dolce Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 And, yeah, later his teeth were clenched, and it looked like he was screaming/was so angry. His emotion in the video projected the song so well, I think. His emotions came across amazingly, I thought. The first time I watched, even with all the other chaos going on in the video, I kept thinking "Wow, he's been quite a good actor!"
Reject-All-American Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 haha cool! i didnt wanna be the only one lmao Haha! I thought it was also very cool seeing the baby inside the stomach it was amazing!
Netsirk Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I didn't think it was necessarily "tacky" but I found it a little odd (the only part I'm not sure about in the whole video, actually!). I felt like it should've just been Billie but the director then thought "Well, I guess I shouldn't leave Mike and Tre out...". And, I mean, I'm glad he did include them, to me it just appeared like, IDK - forced?yes! "forced" is a good word for it. when they were rolled back out i was like "why did you bring them out to roll em right back in again?!"
greenday801440 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Haha! I thought it was also very cool seeing the baby inside the stomach it was amazing!Yeahh!! And in your sig... Foxboro, Hartford and Boston all the way!!!

Hermione Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 When they were rolled out and then rolled right back t was almost like to show "We're still here, too! In case you care...bye." I'm going to think of it like that every time I watch it now.
Mar Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm only unsure about two parts, and that's the ending and the Gloria and Christian car scene. That's just sorta random. I don't know. And I like how the ending is all normal, but the sun is kind of annoying, and it's just..awkward? What you said! I like the ending, and I think the sun makes the setting beautiful, it's just that the glare of the sun that irks me slightly. Minor quibble, though.I just love this video, and I wish I could see it in on US television, because it would be EPIC. Not that I don't love EJN/that video, but this blows it out of the water. I think it perfectly expresses what the song is about. And for those of you with LiveJournals who are members of ONTD (I know I'm not the only one), go show the video some love!
greenday801440 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 HELL YEAH! yayy a new england GD fan theres not so many that i know so when i see one i get all excited haha im corny, nice to meet chya!! XDDudee yeahh!Nice to meet you as well..I'm Meagan
Mari91 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 LOL the part when the politicians kiss is hilarious, i love that part!!! But i completely fucking love the whole videoi loved it too! though i cant figure out if those are real politicians or notWhen they were rolled out and then rolled right back t was almost like to show "We're still here, too! In case you care...bye." that was the only part of the video i really hated, i felt they should have been there
amy_runs Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I think it was okay... I felt like I was on drugs during the video. I dunno, I thought it would be more.... awesome, you know? Meh maybe it will grow on me
Chelsea Hotel Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I never actually realized how just how expressive he is until watching this (which is odd because I think I've spent more than half my life looking at him ). His eyes can say a million words. That scene in particular you mentioned he really does go through all those emotions in like, two seconds, lol. Pretty cool. I especially liked the face he made at "left me for dead or alive", because he just looks SO sad, it's so believable. I don't remember at the second when it was, but I also loved him praying and looking up. So cool.Ugh, yes. When he's in the TV surrounded by the politicians, you can see the total anguish and rage on his face. And when he literally grits his teeth later, oh my God, Billie.
Reject-All-American Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Dudee yeahh!Nice to meet you as well..I'm Meagan My names Michelle !! its really cool meeting someone from around here, where do you live in New England if you dont mind me asking? oh and sorry for spamming the thread with this off topic-ness XD
Rae'n'shine Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 When they were rolled out and then rolled right back t was almost like to show "We're still here, too! In case you care...bye." I feel like you read my mind during that scene.
dolce Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Chelsea Hotel - Every time I've watched the video I've had, umm - issues.
Chelsea Hotel Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 And for those of you with LiveJournals who are members of ONTD (I know I'm not the only one), go show the video some love! Haha, they just pointed out that it looks like Billie's standing on a box at the end.
-AreWeTheWaiting- Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I didn't think it was necessarily "tacky" but I found it a little odd (the only part I'm not sure about in the whole video, actually!). I felt like it should've just been Billie but the director then thought "Well, I guess I shouldn't leave Mike and Tre out...". And, I mean, I'm glad he did include them, to me it just appeared like, IDK - forced?Yea thats what I meant, I was trying to find the right word .. but yeah it just seems kinda forced .. like "If we're gunna show Billie in real life, we should probably show Mike and Tré too."
Chelsea Hotel Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Chelsea Hotel - Every time I've watched the video I've had, umm - issues. Ah, yeah, me too. *cough* Thing is, I got on YouTube at school and watched it there, so around the fourth or fifth time people were asking me what I was doing. And I was like, "CAN'T TALK NOW GREEN DAY OMFG."
Mar Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Haha, they just pointed out that it looks like Billie's standing on a box at the end.I think that's my favorite part of the video, tbh screw all the awesome visual effects, the most emotion you're going to draw from me is laughter at the box!
dolce Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Yea thats what I meant, I was trying to find the right word .. but yeah it just seems kinda forced .. like "If we're gunna show Billie in real life, we should probably show Mike and Tré too."It definitely felt like an obligatory "We have to be fair and show the whole band" type of thing. Which is silly. Either just show Billie or show the whole band the whole time. I don't see any reason why they couldn't have pulled back the camera after Billie's face became "real", show the whole band, and then, instead of literally reeling Mike and Tre back in like fish, just do a close-up on Billie again.
greenday801440 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 My names Michelle !! its really cool meeting someone from around here, where do you live in New England if you dont mind me asking? oh and sorry for spamming the thread with this off topic-ness XDI'm from southern New Hampshire... loland... so I'm not spamming either..I feel like this video is so accurate, with the politician sliding down the stock market graph, it shows that so many of these guys are just greedy jerks that want loads of money... I also really like when the little boys head turns into Billie's.I think the scene write after Christian is holding the baby, then it turns into him and other kids which are the 'class of thirteen.'
Sarahnade. Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I totally agree with all of the favorite parts Sarahnade said..I love Billie's facial expression when he sings "It's a song that strangles me" He sings it through like clenched teeth! And yeah at the end they zoom back and I'm like.. "Oh heyy Mike and Tre" then they zoom in and I'm like "Oh..bye then...." kind of odd..I showed it to my dad and he's trying to figure who the politicans are (besides Nixon)..lolYeah. I did think it was sort of, "Well, we can't just show Billie" kind of thing. So it was a bit awkward. It's the only part I don't really like. It's like, zoom in, zoom out, zoom back in, done. Compared to the whole epicness of the rest of the video, the ending was just...mediocre? I mean, I love how it goes back into reality, and the city background is beautiful. But something about it was just off.It definitely felt like an obligatory "We have to be fair and show the whole band" type of thing. Which is silly. Either just show Billie or show the whole band the whole time. I don't see any reason why they couldn't have pulled back the camera after Billie's face became "real", show the whole band, and then, instead of literally reeling Mike and Tre back in like fish, just do a close-up on Billie again.I think Mike and Tre should've been behind Billie, so they wouldn't have had to pull out and pull back in like that. If Billie would've been standing out farther, and had Mike and Tre behind him playing, it would've worked better I think.
Reject-All-American Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Did anyone think that around 4:34 was totally trippy? Not trying to sound like a stoner but damn when i was watching that part when Billies head is coming at you a million times i got dizzy it was fucking amazing ahh the whole video is AMAZING and that word doesn't even do it justice, it was just ahhhhh <3
gabbag Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I think Mike and Tre should've been behind Billie, so they wouldn't have had to pull out and pull back in like that. If Billie would've been standing out farther, and had Mike and Tre behind him playing, it would've worked better I think. And then Billie wouldn't need to stand on a box because he would look taller
