alexandrez Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Took the words right out of my mouth.I didn't think it was cheesy at all though, but it did give me that Pink Floyd vibe, which is amazing. Really shows how much the band has matured with their style and songwriting. They used to write songs about masturbation and boredom. Now they write songs about what's going on in the world, like Pink Floyd did. Amazing.i was the first time i saw it. that head spinning and then his eyes freeze... it's freaky. but at the end, it made sense... that that's how it's suppose to be.the pink floyd influence I'm talking about is the animation in the video, that's reminds me of "The Wall". not the song/ song themes.
Anja Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 MTV is doing a "Star hour" on Green Day right now which means they are playing GD videos for half an hour. 21st CB better be one of those videos I'd love to see it on my TV screen.
elanorelle72 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 metamorphosis?I loved the satire..the in your face....I took the liberty of sending the link to Michael Moore...I just sent the message...Capitalism ..a love Story is out right now....and I tell you...this song should have been used for the soundtrack...it is so topical..Falling economy...how everything went to hell since Nixon...banking crises...going crazy...( Billie shooting himself)..reminded of the character Floyd from the Wall..it was a very good politically charged video that NObody HAS DARED to do...and the feel of American Idiot is back...oh yeah..full force....
Vanilla Shake Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Actually now that I think of it, the only Pink Floyd album that I can recall being about what was going on in the world was their 1977 album "Animals" (my personal favorite, only 5 songs on the album, the lyrics and themes still hold true today), and some elements of "The Dark Side of the Moon" had that as well, while "The Wall" was mostly about insanity. Yeah, Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands.Didn't they say that one of the Pink Floyd albums was an inspiration for "21st Century Breakdown"?@alexandrez: The entire album reminds me of a Pink Floyd inspired album in my opinion, with the themes and all. And there wouldn't be anything wrong with it. They are one of the most influential bands of all time.
Bohemian+Scandal Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 SO much better than the last two. The politicians just suddenly making out there at the end made me .
alexandrez Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I think i understand the whole album a bit better too. The visual effects in this video put a real emphasis on the chaos that the band have been talking about since the album came out.exactly!i guess this video "is" a window into billie's head. all that confusion he's been talking about since AI.hm... if you follow what i just wrote, then it must suck to watch TV if you happen to be him. or like him.
firewatersign Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I love how artwork is such MASSIVE part of this album- the music video, the art show in London, the live set, album cover....
RobyRoom Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 at first, i was kinda of bummed with some of the cheesy animations. 80's style.but as soon as the part where there is real video kicks in, it all makes sense.that last line is basically what the whole video is about. "Believe what you see from heroes and cons?"that's pretty much what the video is about. it's this crazy Pink Floyd "The Wall" inspired video. questioning viewers sanity i guess.it's brilliant.at least, that's what im thinking right now, as it is 7 am here and i stayed up all night. This vid is definitely generational, like the Pink Floyd's one was. It goes straight to the point of a lost generation. Green Day are the only band alive that care about the younger generations and that don't try to feed them with rubbish like popstars or other rock bands do.
Astrid. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 S I wans;t really up to date about this video and EJN video. But 21CB is on Europe tvs? Or only in the UK??
DePyRoNiCK Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 you can watch it here too: http://depyronick.com/55374-Green_Day_-_21...deo)-dinle.html
parinaz Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 so surrealistic,so amazing. :woot: well done man. this video really satisfied me.YEAH......the graphic is awesome.I dunno what to say.do you think it is gonna be nominated for mtv award 2010?it MUST win record of the year 2010 .it must.this video is among top 3 best green day music video.CHEERS........

Green Day are the only band alive that care about the younger generations and that don't try to feed them with rubbish like popstars or other rock bands do.Only others I can think of (that are still currently active) that don't fill minds with rubbish are Queens of the Stone Age, Muse and Billy Joel, though he's not a "band".Edit: And Counting Crows.
Guest Shangri-La Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I loved the satire..the in your face....I took the liberty of sending the link to Michael Moore...I just sent the message...Capitalism ..a love Story is out right now....and I tell you...this song should have been used for the soundtrack...it is so topical..Falling economy...how everything went to hell since Nixon...banking crises...going crazy...( Billie shooting himself)..reminded of the character Floyd from the Wall..it was a very good politically charged video that NObody HAS DARED to do...and the feel of American Idiot is back...oh yeah..full force....hah i just saw that. i quite liked the opening being Iggy's version of Louie Louie but I know what you mean.
Katarina. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I think i understand the whole album a bit better too. The visual effects in this video put a real emphasis on the chaos that the band have been talking about since the album came out.The video type reminds me of the insomniac era tooExactly what I thought! It reminds me of the Stuck With Me video.
JeanJeanie Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 ...and Billy Joel, though he's not a "band".You're right. He's a god.

firewatersign Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I put the video on youtube and warner took it off in less than two minutes after processing. Didn't they talk things out already? Sorry, if anyone waited for it.
RobyRoom Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 The only fail of the vid might be Gloria fixing the car. LOL It's just a mith. Women can't fix a engine or something. Gloria kick ass, though.
elanorelle72 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 hah i just saw that. i quite liked the opening being Iggy's version of Louie Louie but I know what you mean.zoe,,,were you able to see the video on any network???

The Disappearing Boy Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 i love how green day use imagery in their work, from this to the covers of dookie and insomniac. its great stuff and can be interpreted in so many ways.im not normally a fan of music videos, but i really like this one.
RobyRoom Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Only others I can think of (that are still currently active) that don't fill minds with rubbish are Queens of the Stone Age, Muse and Billy Joel, though he's not a "band".Edit: And Counting Crows.I pretty much agree. I love the bands you've mentionend. But GD are able to speak to more people, imo.

Gloria kick ass, though. Yeah, we can only fix sandwiches.I loved Christian holding the kid and how it morphed... the whole video is a bit of a mind fuck.
