.:Whatsername:. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 ....and that child is a member of the "class of 13". It all makes so much sense now. Christian and Gloria were either a part of (or, I think more accurately) were abandoned by the Bastards of 1969, the original Woodstock-era generation that promised that they'd make everything all better by the turn of the 21st century, once they got into power.... and instead they made it worse. Now C&G have had a child of their own, who gets dumped out into a chaotic world that's fallen apart. The Bastards have missed their self-imposed "20th Century Deadline", and all they can say is "sorry kid, we fucked it all up, now it's your turn" -- they've "been to the edge and thrown the bouquet/of flowers left over the grave". The political system has fallen apart, and we're left to watch the hypocritical politicians slugfest it out when they're really in bed with each other...and all we can do is sit in "the waiting room wasting our time/waiting for Judgment Day."*SHIVER*Whoa. I haven't even seen the video yet, but this makes me REALLY want to. Can't wait to get home... seems like everyone just loves it!
Sara. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 it was very different than I thought it would be, but i liked it especially the ending.

Minority_GD Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I L-O-V-E the new video. When I saw it it was like hearing the album for the first time... I can't dscribe it.It's just overwhelming.Maybe the best gd - video ever.
RobyRoom Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 It was on MTV HITS also, but I guess it's not the same you have in US.
Guest jetblackheart Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Yeah I think we owe Marc Webb an apology.
Vrock09 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Just MTV, but MTV ITALY Dammit im in the US and they're playing some Degrassi shit lol and well if were counting on mtv in the US, ....well we all know how that went last night lol
leacalifornia Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I love it...absolutely love it.... I always get a better understanding or a different view of their songs when they make a music video. The art concept kind of reminds me of insomniac the way the things all move.I cant wait to actually see it on tv!
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Well, I gotta go to school now.If anyone wants to bitch at me for hating the video, you can text me. Well, I don't hate it. It's just not that great. It's kind of annoying that everything is animated. I REALLY love the ending, though. The scenery is beautiful, and the camera work is good, too. What would make it awesome is if Billie fell off the building at the end. No, I'm not saying I don't like Billie or anything. Of course it'd just be a special effect 'cause he wouldn't get hurt or anything. It'd just be cool to see him "fall" backwards or jump or something.I think Billie swore off doing his own stunts after Walking Contradiction.
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 lol@ billie falling off the building.
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I don't know about the whole "more of them on the rooftop" thing. I think the whole point was that we had three minutes of being bombarded with all sorts of images and having to digest all of it, for them then to come on rinsed of all chaos - and you can see the physical change from animation to 'normal' - in front of the city at dawn, like it was saying "this is what we really are, without all the added baggage". I can't really explain it, but that's the first thing I got from it.I think you're on the right track. The transition from the surreal to the real is critical to getting the raw awesomeness that is this video.BTW *loved* your animated GIFs a few screens back!
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 That was pretty sweet.Does anyone else think it's funny MTV in the USA has yet to post the video?Warner's giving the U.S. EJN instead. Only way to see the 21CB video from the U.S. is through the underground.
Vrock09 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Warner's giving the U.S. EJN instead. Only way to see the 21CB video from the U.S. is through the underground. R U serious??? so does that mean that it wont be shown on mtv in the US at all?

RobyRoom Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 R U serious??? so does that mean that it wont be shown on mtv in the US at all?Bastard of 1967 is right. In Europe, UK excluded, we don't see EJN on MTV. The only way to see it is via satellite tv or internet.
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 And if that goes wrong you get results like these xDYip! Maybe that explains Mindfuck #2?
Vrock09 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Bastard of 1967 is right. In Europe, UK excluded, we don't see EJN on MTV. The only way to see it is via satellite tv or internet. man... that sucks... oh well i can always watch it online, but i really wanted to see it on actual tv.. oh well.. lol
Kayfabe Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Great video but it would have made much more sense to have released this as the fist video from the album though.I agree. The video is who saw the congressman makeout lol And Gloria helping Christian fix the carAnd the child of the class of '13 turning to BillieAND!! at the end when Billie turns real to say 'dream, america dream' ect.
OliDayyy Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Woah, I love it!! Really beautiful, definitely one of my favorites :]
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 omg!! crazy first time ive ever read someone put exactly how i imagined the songs!!! green day is amazing huh? lolThanks! The thing that kills me is how much work it takes to get this album. Billie's become a lyrical genius and there are so, so many layers of depth to the songs on 21CB....but it's not anywhere near as "easy" to get like AI was. Much more metaphoric and symbolic rather than clear and realistic, and the less "tight" storyline makes it all the more murky. I'm just glad they throw us a fucking bone every once in awhile, it helps!R U serious??? so does that mean that it wont be shown on mtv in the US at all? We'll have to see if they pick it up eventually, but I think the plan since sometime around VMA time was that EJN would go to the US and 21CB would go everywhere else *but* the US. On three, everyone say "thank you" to the dumb fuckers at Warner!
Abbey. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Smart, sassy, chaotic, funny, thoughtful, vibrant, shocking, beautiful, sexy, Christian into Billie, gunshot - blood, politician suckface, billie’s head from billie’s heart, sunrise, overload, overload, overload, OVERLOAAAAAAD!I hope the boys are thrilled with it. I feel like I just got taken on the wildest ride.

fashionvictim86 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Wow, totally amazing. Different from any video they've ever done. Bravo.
GarinRichards Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 The video was different, but I still liked it. Especially how they still implemented the idea of a plot following the album. I think they could have done with a little less green screen though at some points. It was interesting.
