Bands You Hate Green Day Being Compared With

I think there's two ways of comparing - one is "Oh, MCR is better than Green Day". I hear alot of stuff like that (not specific to MCR, just my example) and I don't care about that. People have their favorites, and it'd be silly to assume they were wrong outside of my own personal tastes. The other way is "Oh MCR, they're like Green Day, right?" - and in that sense, it bugs me when people compare them to stupid bands. MCR? No, not in the slightest. But, I honestly don't think I've heard many people actually do those kinds of comparisons. When people ask me who Green Day sound like - I don't really have an answer.

well, yeah, put in this way, it makes more sense. people fight over the stupidest things, whether it be a band or person.

exactly, im not that fond of blink, but that doesnt mean that people don't like them. each band has their own style, let them be who they want to be

(though, it is wrong to compare the Jonas Brothers with Green Day that's just disguting )

I agree with Blink-182. As frightening as it is, I've heard the Jonas Brothers. I don't really like any of the other pop-punk bands that came after them like Sum 41 or Good Charlotte. I think one of the reasons Green Day gets more hate than many of the other punk bands that sign to major record labels is that Green Day's sound was duplicated by bands that didn't really live the same punk way, but got grouped into that classification, so people think of Green Day and Good Charlotte as the same kind of musicians, but in reality Green Day lives a whole different way. Of course, they probably also take more heat because they actually succeeded unlike many others on their jump to a major record label.

Fall out boy, all time low, all American rejects, 30 seconds to mars, my chemical romance. I hate them all, there are probally more that I could add to that list.

Bands I understand being compared to green day are blink, the offspring and weezer. But green day is much better than all of those of course.

The people who compare Green Day to those bands are the ones who don't know the music. They look, for example, at the audience and see that there is a high amount of screaming fangirls and draw the conclusion that they play the same music and have same attitudes etc.

But generally, I don't really think Green Day are like any other bands, but it just might be because of the sort emotional attachment I have to Green Day, ect ect.

Which isn't true. I have yet to see a modern pop-punk band come even close to where Green Day is. Period. On any level.

However, I do like comparisons when publications mention how awesome Green Day is, and how everyone else should kiss their feet.

Well I came in here to say MCR but I see everyone has already mentioned them.

People who think so are of the opinion that the similarity would be that both bands are considered popish rock that is directed at a market of teenage audience, of course that is such a simplistic view which is not fair.

i dont like them being compared to ANY band. Green Day arent like any other band and shouldnt be grouped into a classification with Blink-182 and Sum 41 and such. Green Day are individual and unique and i wish people would stop stereotyping them.
