My dad (who I consider to be pretty aware and with the times when it comes to new music, and is a fan of GD) was like "This isn't Green Day right? It sounds just like Billie Joe. A lot." I didn't hear the resemblance. Then, not even a week later, my mom heard the same song and went "This is Green Day?" I was like "No, why?" And she said, "Wow, he sounds a lot like Billie Joe." I DON'T HEAR IT! I feel like I'm missing something, lol, because I don't hear how Joel Madden and Billie sound alike.LMAO. I don't think they sound anything alike either! I mean....no offense to Joel or any of his fans - but his voice...it's just so whiny which is a total contrast to Billie's agressive voice. I guess if I had to compare Joel's voice to someone, it would be the singer of Simple Plan. I mean, they're voices don't sound completely alike, but they both have a somewhat "whiny" voice (again, NO OFFENSE PEOPLE. lol) But when it comes to Billie Joe, I don't think you could compare his voice with anyone elses...I mean, I think it's pretty unique.
Katherine Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 You know, bands like Good Charlotte and Fall out Boy, for example, were influenced quite a bit by Green Day. I think that's where some of these comparisons are coming from.

But however much Green Day have genuinely influenced them I just don't hear that influence in the music . I don't hear any similarity.

Most people see Green Day as just another one of those bands. Part of that group.
greendayfan_0491 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The only reason Green Day and Blink belong in the same sentence is if the sentence is "If it wasn't for Green Day there'd be no Blink." I hear Green Day mentioned with MCR and I don't like that either.

Mostly people compare them to Blink 182, Sum 41...so far as Alkaline Trio.I mean I love these bands but isn't the whole point of punk music to be individual?Nothing gets my goat more than people trying to pigeon hole things that they can't comprehend!

She starts talking about how terrible they are and how much they need to just stop making music. So i defend them like any good GD fan would do.
