And surprise me too, because bands like My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco etc simply do not sound like Green Day, and when it comes to lyrics I don't see much in common either. Yet the fact that so many people love both Green Day and those kinds of bands shows that many people must see some kind of connection. I can't see it.Even a band that probably does sound slightly more like them, Blink 182, genuinely doesn't sound very much like them at all. They sound more like NOFX. I think anyone who groups these bands together with Green Day must appreciate Green Day in a totally different way to me.

I think Sum-41 has credited Green Day as their inspiration.I just remembered how my old high school guidance counselor walked by me while I was reading the article in Rolling Stone Magazine (the special edition issue where they're dressed like revolutionary soldiers) and she thought that Billie was Adam Lambert, that pissed me off. I told her who it was and she was like "well he's just as bad" which pissed me off even more

They don't even sound alike. They get thrown in the same genre, but they don't sound alike at all, at least to me.I don't like them being compared to My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco, and Fall Out Boy mostly. Blink 128 isn't so bad, but isn't not very accurate either. I didn't know people compare them to Jonas Brothers and Tokio Hotel, but I don't like those comparisons either. I also don't like the comparisons to Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Sum 41, but those 3 are because the comparisons aren't about sound, they are usually about who is punk and who isn't and about who killed punk and all that shit. I love GC, SP , Sum 41, and Green Day individually. But comparing them all to each other is just plain dumb and pitting them against each other for a "punk" argument is dumb too.
