It was an amazing performance, I think people who are saying it wasnt good because it was mellow are ridiculous! They just did a huge tour, they never have a chance to just breathe, and plus the AMA arent a big crazy award show its all mellow shit, they did a fucking amazing performance and i loved it Billie sounded amazing. So any negative comments are just ridiculous, they kicked ass. Who cares if it wasnt a crazy performance, it was a great one, and Billies vocals were amazing as usual, especially when he held one of the notes for a while, I teared up

EXACTLY!!!! Also at the VMAS they had there fans there, like remember how the pit was all fans who got tickets?? Well the AMAs werent like that! I absolutely loved the performance I thought it was great, and it really proved to everybody who doesnt know much about Green Day, that they can do softer songs too and really fucking rock, Billies voice is absolutely breath taking, like he literally has the best voice I have ever heard!

I just don't get why you guys would settle for less. Anyone that has seen them live - knows they are much more capable live. I mean, at the end of the day it's all about perspective. So i can't tell you you are wrong. But I think there was so many things wrong with Billies Voice (him missing notes, his vocals sounding off) - that it was obvious.

It has nothing to do with the song sounding "mellow" - the song was just performed awful live. As someone that has seen them live 3 times now this tour (and seen tons of videogs) - by far 21 Guns is the wost song translated live. I guess that's all I can say, if you don't agree with me - well that's fine. I just don't see how you can listen to 21 Guns on the album - then listen to THAT live performance and say they are even close. Even If you watch the early performances of 21 Guns (when they were playing the clubs in San Fran) - they sounded much better.

Nothing wrong with being the Minority, and like I said what you said wasnt wrong, because 21 guns is really hard to play live because of some of the high notes, and especially if his voice was a little wore out from the long ass tour, but I thought it sounded great, I just hate the American Music Awards, It was soooo boring except for when GD performed and won there award

Yeah, I did, too. I think the audience was a factor, and I'm sure they are just exhausted. Jet-lag and touring for so long has got to catch up at some time. They need this well-deserved rest coming up.

He's really talented...I dunno I was laughing at the performance just because of how 'outrageous' it was but that's kind of how he always is right? I saw him live a while ago.

I just got back from attending this. So let me give you my impressions:

Basically, I thought the performance was very underwhelming. I'm not really sure if Billie was sick or not , but his vocals sounded "heavy". They sounded off the entire time. Most of you know this already, but I've been deeply let down by the fact that Billie has stopped singing the "guns" in falsetto. But I've kind of accepted the fact that he can't hit that note live (which is why he is stopped doing it). But tonight...it was just TOO obvious. At the end of the song he tried to hit that high note, and his vox completely cracked. It was really... I feel like they need to stop playing 21 Guns live (on tv) - because it sounds so bad for the band.

I don't want to sound ungrateful. The overall awards show was fun to attend. I got to see some great acts, and it was nice being in the company of good people. But at the same time, I basically went for Green Day. And it was a let down to see them put on such a mediocre live performance. I thought I would never say this..but Lady Ga Ga put on a better performance then them.

Okay, I know i sound like a total hater. And I really do apologize. This is just how I felt after seeing this in person. I even just got done watching the TV broadcast of it, and it only confirmed what my ears had heard. Bah.

You don't sound ungrateful, Kate! You certainly aren't a hater, and I don't think there's anything wrong with not being a big fan of the performance. They're still amazing, and let's hope they can pick it up tomorrow, enjoy their holiday, and kick ass for the December dates!
