Laura! Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I was in the backseat of my friends car. They were playing BOBD over and over again. And pretty soon I fell in love with it and soon after that I fell in love with Green Day.
Elissa. Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I think I was in the car and I heard Wake Me Up When September Ends....either that or BOBD
Conspiracy. Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I think the first GD song I heard was BOBD because it was on the radio all the time..
umbjisfhinefum Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 i went over to my best friends house and she was like "you HAVE to listen to this cd!!"then she played jesus of suburbia and eventually the rest of american idiot that night....got hooked
Holly Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 It was January 2005, I had been part of the cast in a pantomime, and it was on the last day at the after show party, we were all dancing around on the stage when suddenly American Idiot came on. Me and my friend started jumping round the stage, I'd never liked or listened to music like this before but I thought it was amazing! I'm guessing when i got home I tried to look for the song or something, I can't remember. But I wonder if I would've ever liked Green Day if I hadn't heard them at that party, scary thought.
jm_xd Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 See that little black circle?I was standing on that corner when I heard my first GD song. It was "Jesus of Suburbia". can't imagine better song to hear in that place than JOS.
janiliz06 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I was in my room watching the top 20 . and Warning was on. I dont remember the spot thought. But that was the 1st GD song I listen, like and learn.
ScreamsInSilence815 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I was at home, cleaning the house with my mom...think I was about 7. And I heard Good Riddance on the radio.
Neonknights77 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 My first Green Day tune was Burnout. My dad had Dookie on cassette (I still have it to this day) and we listened to it while we were driving somewhere. I was either five or six.
viva_la_gloria! Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams many times but i wasnt a green day fan thenthen i was in the bathroom listenin to the radio and suddenly there was this Boulevard of Broken Dreams songnext day on vh1 i saw know ur enemy and also a green day interview and live performancesit blew me awayrest is historyi aint jus addicted to them...I AM TOTALLY OBSESSED !!!!!!!!!
ClassOfEleven Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 My earliest memory of hearing a Green Day song is when i saw their Basketcase video and thought it was the funniest video ever because of the guys in the background with masks on. I didnt become a fan then though.
katieackles Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 We did "fitness" at my primary school for 15 minutes every morning. It was a small school, so we all did it together. This was a "stations" game where you'd get to a "station" do and activity, then move when the whistle blew. I was setting it all up. We always played songs in the background. It was American Idiot (I was in year 6... which means I was about 12?). I was in love. That was the only positive thing that school ever did for me.
biwic Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I was in the front seat of my cousin's car when I was about 9 and I heard Good Riddance on a mix cd she had. I asked, "who is this" and she said Green Day. That was 9 years ago. Little did i know, how much they would influence me.

AndrewW91 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 In a car. I'm pretty sure it was When I Come Around back in the 90s.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 In September 2004 I was in my brother's room and he had MTV on. Then, American Idiot came on and I was just shocked to find a band me and my brother both liked!
Mellyboots Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 In the car with my family in 2000. My sister had made a mixed CD and there were a lot of songs from Warning on it. The first song I heard was Misery.
iLozza! Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Mmm I think I was in the car, on my way to visit my great uncle and his family. I remember the journey and what songs we listened to on my brother's mp3 better than the actual trip.
Banan Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I was born in '95, so since dookie came out one year, one month and 12 days before i popped out, and my parents always had a music channel on, like MTV, i'm pretty sure i heard Basket Case or When I Come Around then. But the first time i can remember, was probably around 2001- 2002-2003 or something. I used to be a lot to a friend, who had this CD with a lot of different songs on. One of them was basket case , and i remember that i didn't want to admit that i loved the song, because i was into shitty music like Britney Spears, Sugarbabes and stuff .. But i always asked her if she could put the song on repeat. they've been my favorite band ever since!
GreenDay4LifeChick Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 In the morning on my way to school in the car. I remember thinking what band is this?
ncgal Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Hmm, it was when the Longview video came on MTV in 1994. I don't think I heard them on the radio first, it's been so long though, yikes.
Salmonator. Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I was crying, and I finally listened a Green Day song i've had on my iPod forever, but never listened too.
jimmydiedtodayandsodidi Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I was in fifth grade going to the Liberty Science Center on a field trip with my school. So, I was listening to this classical cd with obeos and flutes and i only liked part of one song, but i was very bored. My batteries died, and i asked my friend if I could listen to her cd player for a bit. She didn't really want to give it to me, haha, but then she said fine, and it was American Idiot, so the song came on and i literally pretty much started crying cause nothing had ever moved me so much in my life. And i remember seeing the statue of liberty and just giving it the finger So, i got my own cd a few days later, thus starting my rock passion.
Penguin Puffball Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 My cousin's house, back in '05. I heard Holiday for the first time there.
