If that date is correct, 288 days to go! (technical days. 289 if you count like most people.)

:woot:

Can't believe I'm counting down again!

So fucking excited to see them again, I miss them. I'll be there 100%.

I'm so going over for this. I love Ireland, and put the two things together, well that just makes for one hell of a trip

Plus, in Ireland Slane is a yearly event, loads of people here go over annually even if they only like one or two songs, The gig also gets massive media attention over here, and there will be another 3 or 4 fairly big bands aswell that will draw a crowd(ie. My brother last year went for The Prodigy even though he hates the headlining act Oasis xD) any Irish people will know what I'm talking about ;)

And, OMG! I'm so excited for this even though nothing has been confirmed yet! xD

Exactly last year i only went for the Prodigy and not for Oasis!!

It's TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY run. There was serious problems at it this year. Hundreds of people had to walk up to 8 miles in the dark to get back to the buses after the show.

When I meet Green Day in 2 weeks (because I just will, like) I'll ask them about it :P

Yes i was at Slane this year & it was a bit of a disaster! there was like 10,000 ppl more then there was suposed to be at it!! The walk out of the place is HELL!!! Good day out though!! :D

I'd say they'll be more organised about it next year though, they'd have to be. Like I heard that barely anyone's tickets were checked so loads of people who just showed up without tickets got in for free.

Jesus this big long walk doesnt sound too promising

Posted

No, it doesn't! Don't know how I'm going to manage that!

Posted

Fuck the walk, people it's GREEN DAY. I could walk for 100 km to see them XD :D.

Posted

Yes...but this is Slane...in Ireland. One of the most disorganised places in the world

Posted

holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy shit! all those people!

Posted

Oh! It has been confirmed then!

Excuse my ignorance but... Slane is a big castle in Ireland, where festivals take place, with only standing area, right?

Posted

It's really just like any other festival...but we have a castle in the background

And most of the standing area is on a hill, or so I'm told. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing

Reckon I am going to go to this! :D It's about time I had another trip over to Ireland! :D

Just in case you didn't believe me

Click this

http://2fm.rte.ie/previously_played/2009-1...1#track_listing

Then where it says The Colm and Jim-Jim breakfast show click on I want to listen to a recording of the show

The player opens and go to 119:5 and listen from there its announcen on 120:0

Its not easy to select exacty where you want to listen from you might have to listen from about 117:4 They are talking about a new irish film being made just before it

They said its in August, I wonder will this rule them out of oxegen which is usualy at the start of july, T in the park might still want them and usually T in the Park and Oxegen have the exact same line up.

yeah i would say its very unlikley T in the park and oxygen will have green day if slane do.

so for scottish festivals that leaves Rockness, which they are far too big to play

and for english festivals, i would put my money on reading and leeds, especially if they are on this side of the pond in august. damn. i wanted them at download!

I reckon (hope) they might play at TiTP as I don't think they will be doing anything else in Scotland but who knows. I think Download is quite a strong possibility.

To stay on topic, when do tickets for Slane usually go on sale? I can't seem to find that info anywhere?

I can see them doing T in the Park again, but if they're playing Slane I highly doubt they'd do Oxegen as well.

They better do TiTP or I will have to kick Billie's butt! :D Just to warn you Isabel, be prepared to be bombarded with a gazillion questions about Slane once it gets closer!! And even if you don't know the answers, just make them up!

He wouldn't want that!! :o

Haha well I'll do my best to facilitate you....here's one known fact about Slane: Elephants walk around on stilts serving plum sandwiches to people.

Is titp any good? i would probobly go just too see green day, (if they play) as the line up never really appeals. just wondering how the atmosphere is?

i think slane might be a little too far for me, unless i can convince some friends for a road trip!

Sorry if its been asked before but how much are slane tickets? Thanks in advance! :)

A girl who I work with went this year and she said the tickets were around €80. Hopefully that amount won't increase next year...we Irish are very good at saying "Ah here now, come on. Times are tough! Give us a recession price!" :D

Yeah, TiTP is really good, I have always thought the atmosphere is great and everyone is up for a really good time, though I haven't been since 2006 but I will definitely be there if Green Day are. If you wanted to go over for Slane, you could make a wee holiday out of it and have a few days before or after the gig and that might make it more worth your while?
