HoneyDo666 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 This isn't the O2 arena in Dublin only holding 14,500 people. This is Slane...we're talking about 100,000 people.Honestly, I think they can do it. They wouldn't be in talks if they couldn't pull in the crowd. Shoot me, I'm an optimist who believes in this band.
valentinesandcigs Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 :woot: the only downside is that it looks like it takes 3 days to get the hell out of that place :/ but if its during the summer i think i know where my vacation will be spentoh and if its a festival type thing maybe foxboro hot tubs could make an appearance as an opening act :starwars: i pray to god this is true or theres gonna be some light saber battles going on up in here
Punk Rock Love Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slane_ConcertWhy can't this be in the United States? Dammit.
Isabel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Honestly, I think they can do it. They wouldn't be in talks if they couldn't pull in the crowd. Shoot me, I'm an optimist who believes in this band.Because it's not just Green Day playing, that's why they are in talks. There isn't a fanbase big enough in Ireland to have just them playing at Slane Castle...trust me People buying the tickets won't just be going for Green Day, they'll be going for the other 3 or 4 bands as well
Alan86 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 There isn't a fanbase big enough in Ireland to have just them playing at Slane Castle...trust me This is true. We'll need some help from the rest of the world.
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 My new banner for Belfast and/or Dublin:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v115/Izzyh/Slane.jpg[/imgyou spelt 'nod' wrong
Isabel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 you spelt 'nod' wrong I'm starting a trend, ok?? It was deliberate!
Armageddon Flame. Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Plus, in Ireland Slane is a yearly event, loads of people here go over annually even if they only like one or two songs, The gig also gets massive media attention over here, and there will be another 3 or 4 fairly big bands aswell that will draw a crowd(ie. My brother last year went for The Prodigy even though he hates the headlining act Oasis xD) any Irish people will know what I'm talking about And, OMG! I'm so excited for this even though nothing has been confirmed yet! xD
Isabel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I have no clue what you're talking about...I bleedin' love Oasis!!
Mrs.Kerplunk Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 omg the slane festival is fuckin huge...it would be totally awesome if they'll play there
norcalgreendayfan Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I think I might have to fund a trip to Slane in 2010 depending on when the show occurs if Green Day is Playing.
fatherotti Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slane_ConcertWhy can't this be in the United States? Dammit.that's exactly what I said, Goddammit why does Europe get the special treatments? :verymad: we have way bigger venues here in the States but when Green Day plays here they only playthe small time arena's :verymad: :verymad: :verymad:I think the Home fans in the states should get better treatments
NoVaCaInE! They did plenty of secret shows over there in the states, so. I think we deserve a little love.
NoVaCaInE! Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Ireland, I got you on my mind its about time too He can piss in all the suitcases he wants then.
NoVaCaInE! Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Now THATS dedication I'm proud of you Isabel, i would do the same.
Isabel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 We're still normal and self controlled though, right??
NoVaCaInE! Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 We're still normal and self controlled though, right?? I hope so ...
The Muffin Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 omg, that place is huuuuuuuge!I'd totally go there if Green Day were playing. It's in summer and in Europe that's exactly what I said, Goddammit why does Europe get the special treatments? :verymad: we have way bigger venues here in the States but when Green Day plays here they only playthe small time arena's :verymad: :verymad: :verymad:I think the Home fans in the states should get better treatments Well, you get all the secret shows, signings, meet-and-greets... VMAS were in New York too... And Foxboro Hot Tubs. AND AMERICAN IDIOT THE MUSICAL.So every side of the Atlantic gets special treatments. And I think gigs in smaller venues are 'better'. You can interact with the crowd more.
Isabel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I've never seen people show such interest in Ireland
