Mar Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 In my own humble opinion, the song would have been an interesting fit either before or after THE STATIC AGE on 21stCBD.When some magazine (I'm thinking NME or Q, it's on GDA I know it) listed the track listing when the album was in production, it was supposed to be between H&H and TSA.

Heather.asdf Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 "shes old enough to bleed" grossed me the fuck out, and of course he said it n the song 5? timesmaybe baste on the rumors that billie joe had a daughter near the time Joseph was born...prolly not..but still how morbid to you have to be to come up with "she's old enough to bleed"yeah..

Billie has said before he gets inspiration from everything with his songs, not every last detail has to be about his life personally. And as for that line, double meaning comes up a lot in his songs. I don't think it's morbid at all.
J'net Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 ... what? Why does Billie have to personally have a daughter in order to write a song from that perspective? I don't think it's morbid at all. It's just a fact of life, and Billie has no restraint when it comes to discussing life. That's only one of the many things I love about Green Day's music .
gdkickarse Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Like the majority in here, I think this song is amazingly beautiful! Billie sings it beautifully and there is just so much emotion in his voice. I agree that I think you could take a few different meanings from this. Ahhh this song <3 I nearly cried!
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 This song NEEDS to be either the B-side for EJN or 21st CB. :verymad:THIS

parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I'm convinced they wrote that for you :wink:I think it's interesting what Billie said about the song: "It's about obsession with celebrity and watching people self-destruct."he said it for this song?but I thought this is a cover song they play during tour till this last 5 minutes. the lyrics is weird and beautiful at the same time. I hope he explain a little bit more about it.I think this is a showbiz story. The sweet sound of it is at odds with the whole tone of the lyrics, which are pretty harsh and cynical. 'Daddy's little bundle of joy/ out of a magazine' sounds like daddy's been making a bundle of cash from his daughter's career. The second part of the song, where it goes from 'she is my drama queen' to 'there goes my drama queen' - well, it's like he's lost his investment or his stake. '(un)folding/holding' can have a number of meanings - like the drug reference J'net makes - but the first thing I think of is poker. So, drama queen maybe finds a 'savior' - who or what is she being saved from? Maybe Daddy's control - what's for sure is that Daddy's rushing to find a lawyer and get this thing undone. 'She's old enough to bleed' is the refrain - I feel like that's a reference to how young girls in the spotlight are sexualized at such an early age. It's like this girl is basically 'fair game' once she crosses the line into puberty - she's pushed into an adult world, vulnerable and liable to be hurt, to 'bleed' emotionally. There's also the vibe that this girl is being 'bled' for money.so you mean he wanted to show the feelings of a model's dad?"She's old enough to bleed now."Ew. ...but it makes sense in the song Hold on. maybe he didn't mean this in a sexually way! :/Even though Billie said here that it's a song about the celebrity culture, and that makes sense, I still view the song exactly as you do, and for some reason, I listen to it from Mike's perspective as well. I love the song no matter the perspective, but that's how I view it.yeah. it's about celebrity's culture if he said about it before. but why did he mention this from a father's perspective? and why it is not in their album?
Soroush Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I really love to listen to it's recorded bersion I wish it was in the album.I mean it would have 19 songs or release it as a b-side.it is a wonderful song.if it was in the album it would have been much more popular than LNOE.it it had to be single. because it's awesome
parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I just don't want it to be about celebrities or young model. cause everyone knew it already! obsession with celebs? what could it mean in the song?
parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 ^ yep ;0)but guys! this is a weird song!...... and the melody is sorta Beatlesish.omg. they have remove this song from album and didn't even say why!
Maddy. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Lol at people saying it's about a girl's period,
parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 it could be. more better than being about Hilton's girls.
Maddy. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 But seriously? I don't think it is. I think it's about a girl he met once, that he felt close to. But she did something.. I don't know it's hard to explain and I'm not good with words...
parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Daddy’s little bundle of joy this line why it makes ppl to think about a daddy who earn advantage and money from his girl? it could be mean positive. like his daughter makes him happy for instance.
Maddy. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I'd say he's proud of her, but she is now exposed to the world because she has grown up. So he is afraid for her.. :/
farley drexel hatcher Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Daddy’s little bundle of joy this line why it makes ppl to think about a daddy who earn advantage and money from his girl? it could be mean positive. like his daughter makes him happy for instance.Yeah, that's generally how that phrase is used, to show pride and happiness and whatnot; but in this use, there is some sarcasm there, i'm sure. As is usual for Billie
Maddy. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Yeah, that's generally how that phrase is used, to show pride and happiness and whatnot; but in this use, there is some sarcasm there, i'm sure. As is usual for Billie If it is used sarcastically then the father wouldn't be so proud of her that she's on the magazines and everything.
parinaz Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I'd say he's proud of her, but she is now exposed to the world because she has grown up. So he is afraid for her.. :/this. so abstract. good.Yeah, that's generally how that phrase is used, to show pride and happiness and whatnot; but in this use, there is some sarcasm there, i'm sure. As is usual for Billie right. so it seems that billie made a good game for us all to participated in
farley drexel hatcher Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 If it is used sarcastically then the father wouldn't be so proud of her that she's on the magazines and everything.I interpret it as, "I love you and i'm proud of you but I also love the money and the security i have by exploiting you" - it's all bittersweet. There is sarcasm there.
Maddy. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 this. so abstract. good.right. so it seems that billie made a good game for us all to participated in Billie owes me many hours of time I spent thinking about his lyrics.
