Heh, consider yourselves lucky. In Holland we don't have a decent rock station. It's only the Killers *barf* and Kings Of Leon *double barf*

Oh I love the Killers so I wouldn't mind hearing them more on the radio, but I hear you on the KoL...they're everywhere here.

This song should have been the very first single.

no, to me EJN is the best song of the album. so it shouldn't have been the very first single. know your enemy is not a bad song to me. when I play it I feel like dancing but if viva la gloria was the first single it would have been the best damn thing that would happen.

^ I actually do think EJN should have been the very first single. It would have introduced the album with a bang.

Those opening chords? I know if I hadn't heard the song, they'd grab my attention, and the lyrics would keep me listening.

It makes a very ballsy statement, and it would have definitely made an amazing opening single. Especially if they'd had a video worthy of the song to go with it.

True statement. And is what I have thought for a very long time.

Has anyone heard EJN on the radio? When I was in the East Bay this past weekend, I was listening to the radio in the car and they played EJN. I turned it up wwwwaaayyyyy loud and almost crashed the car when I heard "sodomized" censored. It sounded so weird... and wrong. :(

What a world.

Finnally, EJN becomes a single.

Awe, I hate hearing their songs censored, it just sounds weird.

And nope, I haven't heard it yet, I'm listening to the radio a lot more now just to hear it.

They always end up playing EJN when i'm not hearing the radio. :verymad:

Like in sundays at night. I mean if it's a single, shouldn't they play it in the morning too?

I'm tempted to go into a long rant about payola and stuff like that, but I won't. But I bet it's that Warner hasn't "paid up" for the song yet, whether with illegal money transfers or something like that, to get the song played in "drive time".[/crazy conspiracy theorist]

Yes, about a week or so ago.

They didn't censor "sodomized" for some reason on my station. But I guess they are a bit more lenient with that kind of stuff.

I hate censorship as well too, I am strongly against it. It takes so much away from the music that its saddenning.

Am I the only one who hasn't seen it on any TV channels yet? :/

No you're not. Except I don't have any music channels :D

No. I haven't seen it either. I don't think I've seen Green Day videos on TV more than 10, 15 times, in my whole life..... but then, I don't watch TV that often.

Yeah, well MTV here sucks. The only time they ever play music, is at some ungodly hour in the morning.

I think now would be the best time to release some epic singles from the album. Currently, 21cb stands at 58 on the billboard 200, which isn't that bad. Now, I know sales and shit mean little to nothing to some hard core fans around here, but in my mind, this album DESERVES to reach at least 2x Plantinum in the states. The band spent way too much time and effort to let this album collect dust on shelves five years from now like Warning. I think EJN is a step in the right direction to increase sales. Now, this is just my opinion, and fuck, I'm just a 19 year old kid, so what do I know, but I think the next two singles the band should release (specifically to increase sales) are Restless Heart Syndrome, and Last Night On Earth. Here's why. Restless Heart Syndrome sounds like Boulevard of Broken Dreams on steroids. It's an instant classic in my eyes. People would eat that shit up if properly promoted. Last Night On Earth sounds like it was made for teeny boppers. And Green Day (as much as I hate to admit it) need some of the teeny bopper kids they lost between AI and 21cb back to increase sales. It could definetly be the prom theme song of 2010. That to me sounds like the best route to take if they want this album to make a little more of a splash.

But if they don't, they don't. I love 21cb no matter what. I only want it to succeed because I feel it deserves to succeed better than it has so far. It deserves a seat right next to Dookie. I want it to take the seat Warning should have taken, but was taken by AI instead.

Sorry for any grammar errors. I'm in a huge rush. Just wanted to get that off my chest real quick.

This is genius. I've never looked at it that way, but it makes a lot of sense. And I totally agree with you on 21CB getting the recognition it deserves.

I think 21CB is about to get the recognition it deserves. Green Day will always do well at the big awards shows, especially with us voting like crazy for them!

2010 will be HUGE! Let's go GRAMMYS!

21 Guns is actually quite popular, keep voting for it on VH1's Top 20 Countdown! #31 on the Hot 100!

EJN has debuted at #41 on the Rock chart, and #35 on the Alternative chart. More airplay and a music video for 21CB will help that I'm sure!

The album is at #57.

I love your idea and appreciation of the album :D.

I posted this in another thread, but since the first few singles have been chosen already, your idea seems like the best way to potentially increase album sales.

I would go:

Horseshoes and Handgrenades (good hook as lead lingle as it connects to American Idiot)

Restless Heart Syndrome (underrated song, amazing single potential, and similar to BOBD which did well, plus cool song name)

East Jesus Nowhere (for obvious reasons unnecessary to be stated)

Peacemaker (good follow up to EJN, very unique song too, you normally don't hear songs like this)

21st Century Breakdown (apart from being a great song, a good closing single because it kind of brings back the album)

I have created a potential radio edit of EJN for those of you who want to hear what the song is like with sodomized and god damn taken out. It sounds like a professional edit. *PM me* if you would like it.... don't spam this thread with "pm me" or "i want that"

I tried putting it on youtube but can't do it due to copyright (even when it is hidden)

Haven't seen the video on tv yet but when I was having my breakfast this morning. my local radio station played it! And it wasn't censored either which was good. :D :D
