Guest Shangri-La Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 That. Is. Awesome.I don't even know what it tasted like but my mouth is watering right now. except it was pink frosting instead of red.. and with blue lines because we couldn't mix the colors any darker:(still pretty amazing though.
Storer Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 That makes me feel old...I was in first year of secondary school when it came out. And now I'm in first year of college, crazy...it doesn't seem that long ago to me. AI was basically the soundtrack of my school years. This is exactly the same for me!
Jimmy the Kid Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 There's no other album that's as important to me as American Idiot. It sounds cheesy, but it changed my life and also my taste in music. And it was the first (and the last so far) album of which I liked every single song. There's really no bad song on AI, it's amazing. It's still my favorite album, because it means so much to me, but also because the music is simply awesome.Sorry for my weird English, I have some struggles to express myself today This is for me, and since we are the same age, is kinda funny... Still, i enjoy every song from warning too, so that makes a difference "Jimmy" from my nick comes from AI, i called myself Jimmy after tha album, and that stayed LOL
Trina Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 They really asked you for an ID for a CD?It's possible!I remember when I went to buy Insomniac. I was 11 and I looked alot younger...maybe 8 or 9 and the girl wouldn't sell it to me! I had to get my cousin to buy it. I got the album on accident for Easter in 2005. It was the greatest accident of all time. That's so cool!!!me and my sister made a heart grenade cake the day it came out Ooooh Yum!Sometimes we get Green Day Face Cake
Maddy. Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Sometimes we get Green Day Face Cake You. Made. Me. Hungry.
Agija Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I can't believe 5 years have passed since AI was released. I was listening to it almost all day yesterday.
fashionvictim86 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Wow, a lot of the stuff you guys are saying is the same way I felt when I heard Dookie.I first heard this album when I was 11 years old. I had seen the American Idiot music video, right when it came out and I became obsessed. I fell in love. I found something that I could call my own. I found myself. I found my identity.Just replace American Idiot with Longview and you have me. I don't think 5 years was that long ago though, when you figure I'm still in the same fuckin' place I was. What I did was took the day off work, went to Best Buy and bought like 5 copies (not including the book with the CD, that's another I have) and gave 3 of them away to friends. I always do that. I remember when Warning was released and I was working at a different place and I couldn't get off work. So I had my best friend go over on Oct 3 and buy a few copies and bring them to me at work. Now I did get the day off work this year for the 21CB release......and have about 3 copies left.
Ally Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 A.I Became one of my fave albums,BOBD,holiday,St.Jimmy,WMUWSE,and whatsername helped me alot through my depression. I would constantly hear it for two years. And it helped me alot. Thats why i'm glad this album came out at the right time to help me.the same songs helped you as helped me, though St Jimmy inparticular helped me, most people know on here now that its cos of AI that i am still alive really, my depression was so bad but somehow St Jimmy made me realise i didn't need to be depressed, my situation was similar to yours to my grandad died the november after the AI release, i got AI for xmas and in the january, i listened to it walking school (that makes me feel old since i have just started the last year of uni!) and it was as if all my depression was flowing out of me. So AI holds a special place for me and still when i get stressed or angry, St Jimmy always makes me calm, its weird.
gmcloughlin Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 American Idiot is the reason I stuck by Green Day. I liked the International Superhits stuff before that.I had Insomniac and IS before AI came out, but it was when I listened to it 1st, I fell in love. Its the most important GD album to me. Not my fav, but the most important.
shoegazeloser Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'd rather celebrate the 18th anniversary of Kerplunk.

Brian Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 It changed my perspective on music all together.
