saraHsunshine Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I truly think that they have done more for me than any other music (even early Bob Dylan lol) In a lot of ways I have a "great" life. My family is pretty middle class (probably on the upper side of that) so I have never been without food or clothes or electricity or anything that millions in the world live without. I loved my last two years of high school. I have a few best friends and there were some awesome teachers and I actually enjoyed school. Now I am at a University and it sort of sucks. I really just seem to be everyone's "second pick friend," you know, the one that people hang out with when other people are busy. I miss my best friends terribly and I am thinking about transfering. I have recently reevaluated myself, my goals and pretty much my reason for trying. Through everything Green Day's music has been there, you know!? It is like, without them, I would have struggled to find who I am, my individuality and the strength to embrace both of those things. I am just a little girl, lost in a big scary world, who is really thankful to have her favorite band.
Sarahnade. Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 As of right now, they are the main reason I'm still here. Which makes me feel pathetic, but it's true.
Guest ☼ Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Back in '05 they really helped me through a dark time in my life. They were my friends when all my real friends abandoned me. So, they essentially saved me.

Jaymee!! Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Well they saved me on Thursday night/Friday morning during my overnight shift. I was in a lot of pain all night and I wanted to go home, but my manager wouldn't let me, which got me really upset and in a piss poor mood. So I grabbed my iPod and plugged in 21st CB and listened to the whole thing while creating a new display and folding a table of shirts. After listening to it, I was in a better mood and wasn't so bitter towards everyone and everything!

That would have made things a lot easier.

I pretty much wrote my last paper while listening to all like 328 versions of their songs I have lol. I think another thing that they have done for me is help my accept myself, problems and all. I am who I am and I am happy with that so long as I continue to do things as n individual while tyring to help better the world around me.
Jaymee!! Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Man I wish I could get away with listening to my ipod when I was working at this one store. That would have made things a lot easier. We are allowed to either: A) Plug in our iPod into the store's music system and listen to it for the 3 hours before the store opens (iPod's rotate so everyone get's a taste of everyone's music, and people have a chance to hear their own music on the system) B) Listen to our own iPod in our ears as long as we're just running racks/bakers or folding clothing...basically, things that don't require a lot of interaction. Again, only allowed while the store is closed. So, when my iPod is on (which is quite often because everyone loves my iPod haha), Green Day/FBHT's is a pretty common thing to hear

Every place I have worked had SUPER LAME and annoying music playing. Same thing on loop.

poisonoak Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 i just take less shit from others and more able to control my feelings
saraHsunshine Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 ^ I think that the taking less shit is a huge part of it.
ria Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I have been out of work since May. It wasn't Green Day so much as the GDA & Idiot Club that saved me from depression. It kept me occupied & distracted. It was a little hard after the Hartford show because there was nothing to look foward to. I am still out of work but I just pop in a GD cd. & zone out.
Bubbles. Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you?
Bubbles. Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I love all Green Day songs, and I've already replied to this... but the songs Jesus Of Suburbia and She are the ones I can relate most to, those two songs absolutely f*cking complete me.
*_kiwi_* Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 yep the saved me, and more than once. they simply turned my life upside-down
brandnbyr Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 they're a good thing to keep ur mind off of severe depression...
WestboundSign! Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Green Day saved me that often, that I can't even tell you everything. What's in my mind now is the story when I was on a skiing trip with my class years ago. This time I realized that most of them were pretenders, they all began to call me names, to talk about me in a rude way or whatever. Many people would call it mobbing, I just didn't know what was happening to me. I always was alone, I had my iPod and my Green Day picture.. and I was listening to their music all the way through. Even more than I already did at home. Green Day('s music) taught me not to give up, to be strong, not to listen to the others and just to be who I am and don't be ashamed of being myself. I don't want to know what would have happend to me if I wouldn't have had Green Day that time. It was worse than it sounds like
oscar is a nimrod Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Green Day has made me realize that me and my friends are not the only losers and we should embrace how we are. also all this has made me way more socially capable. Before Green Day, I was just another shy kid that nobody cared about or maybe even liked (10/39, Dookie and Kerplunk helped me through this). now I have come to terms with myself. Green day helped me discover myself and made my life complete. Green day also inspired me to take up guitar seriously and write my own songs which has given me motivation, direction and a purpose inf my life. I love all of them for the new life they have given me! Green day did save me
angry_robot Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 saved you from becoming an empty shell person, etc. Exactly THAT thing. Sometimes there're moments in life whan you feel disconnected from people around, or you suddenly realise that you've got nothing to talk about with people who you thought were your friends. And in these moments I always think about Green Day, about their beautiful music, there're many songs that helped me in different situations: When I come around, Time of your life, Redundant, JoS, Letterbomb, there're just so many of them. And it's a wonderfuul feeling, when it's been so many years, you were dissapointed by so many things wich you belived it, but Green Day are still the same perfect. They're like constant in my life.
fadi_7 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 they get me into troubles and help me get out from them
