I've only seen the acceptance speech so far (thank you MTV and your wonderful copyright claims) but it wasn't too bad. Granted, the cock joke went down like a fart in a lift, but Katy Perry and David Hasselhoff were more embarassing to watch.

From some of the accounts I've read, the night seemed like a bit of a disaster really. It looks like Green Day only performed two songs as there was a gap from Robbie Williams cancelling (apparently over budget cuts to his performance) and they probably acted like they did due to frustration at having to endure being there.

I don't think so because even Foo fighters and U2 actually played a two songs medley :)

And well about Robbie I heard today that he's stuck in a sort of paranoia of him forgetting the lyrics of his songs on the stage, he said that atm is not going to perform live or touring, he needs time to get over this

But maybe it's just a rumor

I watched this last night. I taped it and fast fowarded it all except the parts Green Day were in. I don't have time to waste on 2 hours of crap...but the begginning... :D Awesome performance...

Acceptance speech understandable they're tired! I think they need a well earned rest after the rest of the 21stCB tour.

Katy Perry did get on my goat. I like her music but jeez she cannot present.

I found it funny when Billie was sitting at the piano and she was on it. I was like What the- is going on here? And Tre...always love seeing Tre.

I have all most of the clips from this show on my blog, including the wentz interview with mike and Tre. They are vodpods from the ema site plus the BBC interview where Tre thanks England. I don't have that thing with Katy Perry or the Swedish chick. There's a link in my sig to the site.

It's on two different posts. Just an FYI if anyone hasn't seen most of them and don't want to go hunting for them.

I saw the acceptance speech on that (thanks) but the other two just say something about copyright in my country not enabling me to see the video. Or something :(

I watched the snippets of the preshow interview and then the acceptance speech. My take was this: They look tired. They've been going nonstop. I can't imagine expending that kind of energy night after night and traveling when you weren't performing. I also think that between the preshow interview and their award, they had consumed some spirits  which probably just intensified the irony and their indignation that "the Hoff" was presenting their award. I'd be insulted if a drunk David Hasselhoff (or a sober one, for that matter) presented any award that I received (tidiest toilet, consistent dental appointments). His whole shtick made my flesh crawl. I know the man was big in Germany (I was living there when his "Looking for Freedom" was HUGE), but c'mon. And Katy Perry -- not for nothing, but what's the point of her? The whole thing was just misguided and tragic, in my opinion. And they just seemed over it. I can't say that I blame them one bit.

I agree with you completely.

In the heat of the moment, a lot of us (including myself) sort of jumped to conclusions and got upset for, when looking back on it, was for no reason at all. Of course they're exhausted, and mix that with a couple drinks, not wanting to be there, and getting an award from David Hasselhoff - that equals some possibly strange behavior. And it's 100% understandable. I don't know why so many of us got upset - I think we may be a wee bit overprotective sometimes.

It was stupid, but the concern was out of love, and was never meant to criticize any of the guys.

Billie played that little technical mishap off like the super-pro he is! God love him and Mike for basically reading each other's minds! They did such a great job despite their being, most likely, completely exhausted! This is why I love this band! They give their all no matter what and they rock!

I got the links from links from the ema site, if they are still up.

I can't see them on my iPhone since it's flash. But I think those work.

But people from England may not be able to see them. I know I saw a link somewhere for english viewers but I don't know where it is now.

At least the mic mishap gave us that hilarious picture of Billie and Mike (which I'm too lazy to go back and find in this thread)!

I think it was before the last jump, billie had a hard step forward, which made the shoe left on the stage.

And when I first saw mike doing something at billie's back, I thought he was helping billie keeping his pant on!!! :D

You can see clearly billie's pant was dangerous low when he got on the stage... :P

I watched it again this morning, and he does actually pick a show up at the end , I can't believe I didn't notice that before.

It was really an adventurous perform...

I noticed that he picked something up, but couldn't tell what it was. I'll have to watch it again. Still all in all, a great performance. I love the fact that anything can happen when they are onstage. It's always spontaneous seeming, even if rehearsed. Just another reason to love them as a band.

We actually figured that he might have said "kack" instead of "cock" which is german and means "shit". Makes more sense when you consider that he said sorry for using bad german language.

Well, if he really said that, it confirms my theory... shit!, That's what I think about the mtv awards, and I also think that by Billie saying "Cock/Kack award", it was really meant to show what a joke these awards are, directed to the credibility of mtv. Even though they have received so many of those!!

I mean, Tokio Hotel, best group? really..

It's not even about music anymore!

Yes, I did notice that something was happening that wasn't planed  Wouldn't it be amazing if his pants actually fell down during the performance?

Robbie (and I think Eminem) were both due to perform at the awards but cancelled due to 'schedule conflicts' (or at least in Robbie's case). However, the rumour going round is that the budget for the show was cut, meaning their performances wouldn't have been as spectacular as they perhaps wanted. Hence Green Day and Foo Fighters performing twice to fill the gap.

I wondered why they both did 2 songs, thank you for the clarification. I had no idea they were filling in for absent performers. I just thought it strange they did 2 songs when they don't normally.

I'm so glad I recorded this. Now I can watch their performance over and over again. Gosh it was brilliant.

The part where they go into Minority gives me chills.
