Hermione Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Cop out. Could have made this a truly great video, but chose to do a stupid live-footage bs-o-rama. Lame lame lame. How can you call out Jesus freaks and then make an uncontroversial video?Agreed 100% if this is the official video. They had the balls to make a bold and ambitious album but all that boldness seems to go straight out the window as soon as it comes to releasing singles. This safeness and wussiness is a misrepresentation of the album, it doesn't do it justice. Very disappointing. But IS this definitely the official video? Lol I'm still confused.

Hermione Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Well its been on Scuzz and Kerrang today. They make a song that's a brave statement against the religious hypocrisy they've experienced in America........and then they don't release it in America. Instead they release it in the UK, a place where religion isn't a big issue and the song won't be controversial at all. What's the point of releasing such a bold song if it's going to be done in such a pathetic way?
Ally Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Well its been on Scuzz and Kerrang today.yeah it was on mtv2 as well, waited all day to see it yesterday and saw it once, flicked through the channels today and it was on like 3 times in 10 mins or so

What's the point of releasing such a bold song if it's going to be done in such a pathetic way?Exactly. It feels like such a cop out that they'd put a song like that on the album, but won't bother making a proper video or giving it a full release. It's too easy to preach to the converted about free speech to your fans but duck the issue with a wider audience. I can only assume Warners weren't willing to fund a video or something, I'd be so disappointed in them if this was Green Day's decision.

I get the impression that Green Day themselves don't have much to do with choosing singles though. I mean even when Tre said a while ago that he was looking forward to EJN being a single, he added "and I hope it's a single". It's comforting to know it's probably not down to the band, but I just feel bad for them . Their wonderful album's being sold short.
netty Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 who says they wont release it in the US in the end?
Hermione Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 who says they wont release it in the US in the end?If they do then I will be happy! If they don't, I won't
Welshy Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Good thing about having 2 singles is that we could get more b-sides.
MitchBob Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 This is so confusing. Where does Australia stand in all this? Most of us don't give a shit about religion, seriously these rap songs these days are way worse than EJN, most of the lyrical meaning will just go over peoples heads. I don't care, as long as we eventually get both of them as singles.
Tiffx Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Yeah this is way too confusing. I'll be dissapointed with two different singles to be honest. I wish 21CB will be released worldwide. It will be more successful here than EJN I think. Actually, I just like 21CB better as a single overall. And I want the video played on TV.

They should release them both at different times worldwide, cause these two songs are gonna do the album the most justice. EJN will be just like Holiday, 21stCB will be kinda like a mix between AI and JoS. Then after that I reckon they should release American Eulogy or Before the Lobotomy.

MitchBob Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I get all excited inside just thinking about American Eulogy as a single.I get excited inside from just listening to it. Let alone hearing it on the radio. And the music video would just be epic.
Mar Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 OMG... I came home from school, turned on the tv, on mtv two.. and EAST JESUS NOWHERE WAS ON! Its on kerrang right this second!EDIT: its so much better watchin it on the tv than on the internet, my mum was just jumping up and down cos they made a video to her "favourite song"Very cool, I'd love to see it on TV!(Oh and I'm dumb, I didn't realize Kerrang was a TV channel too!)
blitzkriegdeb Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Here's something I'm confused about. (besides the whole thing)If 21stCB is going to be the next single for the US and rest of the world sans the UK, why did they play EJN at the VMAs? It seems like it would make more sense to promote your next single. :/They make a song that's a brave statement against the religious hypocrisy they've experienced in America........and then they don't release it in America. Instead they release it in the UK, a place where religion isn't a big issue and the song won't be controversial at all. What's the point of releasing such a bold song if it's going to be done in such a pathetic way? This. It's like if they released American Idiot as a single in the UK, it doesn't make any sense and it really puts a damper on how outspoken a band like GD can be.

There are religious hypocrites everywhere too.
newsflash777 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I loved the video, but I will be so dissapointed if this is the official video. They could do better
MassHysteria Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 They just announced it will hit October 19th.
emmaILGD! Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I wish they'd bloody well make their minds up. I saw the EJN live video on Scuzz this morning, it's good, but it could be better.
Clurr Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Hey, if that link doesn't work you can try this one: http://link.brightcove.com/services/player...tid=41459802001x

Mar Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Instead of this video, I saw the VMA performance of EJN on MTV2 this morning. I realize they probably are just still trying to promote the VMAs, but now I'm confused as to whether this video is intended to actually be the single's video or not.

I think something was mentioned on the Idiot Club that a *new* video for EJN will be coming out on October 19th along with the single
