I doubt Green Day would just pick random cities like that, since Birmingham is the second biggest. It might be an upside though, because maybe they will do something similar to the American tour for the other dates, where anybody could get in for free. Or maybe it is just the LG Arena. Might have something to do with the fact they have just refurbished it.

going to the sound check would be great, but you just have to be lucky i guess

over here nothing ever gets refurbished lol and if they built a new venue it turns out that the plans weren't approved and that it is in fact illegal lol

please dont join just on the off chance that they might to a sound check for the gig you are going to... or that you might win a pass for this! if you cant afford it... leave it.

I`ve been a fan for years and only seen the band play 3 times so far because of lack of money! and I`ve seen/read all the posts by people who have been to dozens of gigs.... and yeah, its bloody frustrating!

stuff it though. having the money to go to loads of gigs does not make you a better fan! yeah, its not nice when you know you are missing out on something special..... but its not the end of the world.

I`m going to shush because there are loads of things about this that frustrate the living hell out of me. I`ll only go and annoy the living shit out of people if I keep going.

I understand how you feel Netty. For years all I could do was listen to people telling me how great the Green Day shows were, and it really hurt. And I've been a fan for at least 16 years (I didn't write down the exact date I first heard Kerplunk!, but I still remember my reaction to it). So I've gone through a lot of hurt to get to this year when I can indulge myself for the one and only time in my life. I still like to see people who really deserve it get into special events, and it upsets me to see people who don't even appreciate what they've got breeze right in. But, yeah, I'll shut up now, too.

What I cannot believe is that the bid for this sound check pass is now up to $825! I know it's for a good cause, and I hope to see it get a lot higher now that it's completely out of my range BUT I hope the people bidding have the money to just give away. Really, if the sound check ends up being anything like the one I went to in San Antonio, I wouldn't even pay $50 for it. It was great - it was lovely - but it couldn't compare with the actual show! The absolute best thing about it was getting to walk into the arena first and choose my spot on the rail without having to stress about it. I still hope I get into at least one of the UK/Ireland ones because I think they may be planning something more special for those, but it's the shows I really want to see!

Yeah, if I don't get picked for the soundcheck I'll be disappointed but I'm going to be as humble as I can. After all, I'm lucky enough to be seeing them live in the first place! I know people who aren't going to any shows and they're really bummed about that.

Green Day will be hosting 10 very special and intimate IDIOT CLUB only exclusive SOUND CHECK PARTIES during their upcoming European Tour, which kicks off September 28th in Lisbon, Portugal.

I wonder if that means something excited

I thought you had to enter a contest or something to get picked for it but i found out on the site you just become a member and hope to be picked! must just pick at random or something.

erm, no you have to enter. its a random draw but you do have to enter for which ever show you want to go to the sound check at. they dont know which gigs members are going to so you have to enter the info and then they pick people.

its kinda upsetting how the idiot club is posting it on GD.com asking people to join the idiot club to get into soundcheck,.. because besically you're just paying to go to the soundcheck then. They shouldve done it for existing members or at least only posted the info on the idiot club only :/ well thats what i feel anyway.

(then again im only saying this because i really want to go to the soundcheck in dublin and the more people that join the less of a chance there is, it really is a smart way to get new members )

I just think its a bit of a slap in the face to existing idiot club members because its not really an Idiot Club only exclusive soundcheck like theyre saying it is if theyre posting it all over the main site asking people to join for a chance to get in.

I understand that they're marketing (or whatever its called) to get more members but they should at least have more than 20 chances to get in if theyre inviting the whole world :/

Members can enter for all sound check parties as long as they already have tickets for the show.

Members should only enter once per party. this isnt the EMA`s or whatever, so please only enter once!

Members will be given their passes at the venue itself. they wont be posted to you. instructions as to where and when you will collect them will be emailed to you three days before the gig.

Whether members will be able to stay in the venue after the sound check party to wait for the gig will be down to the individual venues. this is not something the IC can guarantee.

Wow! Has anyone seen the current bid for this auction? It's now at $7,500! I think it's great that Green Day is raising that much for this charity and that someone is willing to pay that just to go to sound check.

And since they posted about it on GD.com some people might have even joined the IC just for this. I've come to the conclusion that the IC is crap. Their only concern is getting people to part with their money to join.
