Job Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Yeah. More people pirate songs in 2010 than they did back in 2004-2006. That, along with the fact that the only close thing to a huge hit from 21CB is "21 Guns," and even that song didn't have the widespread impact of "Boulevard" or even "Wake Me Up."
HoneyDo666 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 So it's unofficially platinum? It rocks, s'all that matters to me! Our boys work their asses off and they are loved the world over! I just got Green Day: Rock Band for Christmas and I can't wait to play it...my Wii is at home in Toronto and I'm skiing in Utah.
in_your_face Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 nah...i don't give a shit about album sales. what's with all the calculations? it isn't necessary. Moreover, it isn't accurate! Maybe teenage albums are sold more than the senior band albums, and they may have reached the pinnacle, but the best music is still produced by the senior bands such as Green Day itself.
Danger! Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Actually, one of the reasons why they didn't sell as many copies this time around was because there wasn't as much advertisement. Have you guys noticed that?
pisquano Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Their new album will sell many more untits than 21st Century Breakdown, I'm pretty sure about that. There are many hints it will sound more like their old stuff again which would please a lot more people If it is, I'll go around my town like Blink-182 in "What's My Age Again"... ; no, I don't think it will. People don't buy records anymore. An example might be Katy Perry. She counts three solid #1 hits for Teenage Dream, and her album has been out since August, but she hasn't sold 1 million yet. I think that if the singles will be good choises the album can reach 1 million, but I doubt more. However, I searched on that siteSales for Rock Band and you can easily see it has sold 0,21 m = 210,000 copies
The Platypus! Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 We cannot say, but it hasn't been a success at all. More or less 200,000 copies. Dookie is at 8,030,000. I thought Dookie had gone 10x Platinum, surely that's 10,000,000 copies ?
pisquano Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I thought Dookie had gone 10x Platinum, surely that's 10,000,000 copies ? No, these data are correct Certifications are based on shipments, not on sales data. So Dookie has shipped over 10,000,000 but sold about 8,030,000. That's why songs and albums whose sales data are not far from 1,000,000, for example, would be Platinum. This is why I put in the list above also records like International Superhits, which is not at 2,000,000, but has shipped that amount for sure.
Rage & Love. Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 the less people that listen to Green Day the better, in my point of view.

Silverlight Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Seriously, just because they're album didn't sell to well, it's not their fault! I think it's because radio station and Music Channels have brainwashed people into liking shitty 'manufactured' music
