pisquano Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 ^ Sorry, but Greece didn't have an official chart until the beginning of this year...so I don't know if it has done well there...The only thing I know is that, this year, it has never been on the chart...So I must think it hasn't been a success...Even don't know if it has reached the gold status (3,000 copies)...Anyway, I give you two links to the official Greek Album Chart Website in Greek Website in English
Michael128 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 This probably isn't the right thread for this, but whatever. petros Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Anyway, I give you two links to the official Greek Album Chart Website in Greek Website in English Oh thank you very much for those^^
YehItsRyan Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 One thing about these charts is they only tell you one half of the story. The other half of the story is the longevity of a record, for example how many people will be listening to it in 20+ years time. Look at the Beatles, Led Zep, Queen they all have albums which everyone loves. Although on a personal note I still get people telling me they listening to Appetite for Destruction by GNR which is the best debut album ever in my opinion. I think this will be the case with Dookie and AI both great albums which people will be talking about in years to come.

LouLou Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 and 3.5 million around the world. For some reason I was thinking that it wasn't doing as well as that, so I'm pleased...not that numbers mean a whole lot, but its nice to see
dudley dawson Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 So a year and a half later and this still hasn't cracked a million...look I love the album, but this certainly did not live up to expectations. I could care less about album sales though. What do all of you think the reasons are for this "flopping", at least compared to how well AI did?
Katarina. Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I don't care about album sales, especially not comparing it to American Idiot. AI was released in the right year, at the right time etc. I love 21st Century Breakdown, maybe the reason why it hasn't sold more is cause of the shitty promotion. American Idiot was everywhere, where is 21st Century Breakdown now? 3.5 million albums world wide is awesome! At least people still know what great music is.
Stormy Haze Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 3.5 million albums sold worldwide is amazing! And don't forget that there will be most likely people who will buy their albums in a few years. Per example, I'm going to buy 1039/SOSH soon, almost 20 years later.
pisquano Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Guys, I've added the info in Wikipedia, because I asked Paul Grein (who can search on Soundscan database) the data. He's given me also other numbers, so if you want I'll put them here Let me post two Know Your Enemy is at 815,000 digital copies sold and Bullet In A Bible has sold 545,000

CD's are going to be gone soon, so you have no argument about album sales.

Laura! Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I bet in 5-10 years down the road all we'll have left to buy are digital copies.
Stormy Haze Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I bet in 5-10 years down the road all we'll have left to buy are digital copies. Probably... I hope not I love having the albums in my bare hands and putting them in the players and stuff... It might just be me, but I simply love that.
pisquano Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 It has sold 1,005,000 so far in the US (Paul Grein/ Wikipedia). I'm wondering if Reprise will ever certify it platinum. Many other songs and records haven't been certified: Bullet In A Bible (over 560,000 copies) American Idiot (5,992,000 copies - 5xPlatinum to date) 21st Century Breakdown (1,005,000 copies - Gold to date) Warning (1,165,000 copies - Gold to date) International Superhits (1,915,000 copies - Platinum to date) Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (2,095,000 copies - Platinum to date) When I Come Around (700,000 copies) ..... (Gold for songs or records which have SHIPPED more than 500,000 copies, Platinum for more than 1,000,000)

It might just be me, but I simply love that. SAME!! i always prefer having the actual cd and everything rather than just buying or downloading it from the internet. plus, the Green Day booklets in cd's are always entertaining to read
pisquano Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 green day rock band sales? We cannot say, but it hasn't been a success at all. More or less 200,000 copies. Dookie is at 8,030,000.
DecanoLP Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Their new album will sell many more untits than 21st Century Breakdown, I'm pretty sure about that. There are many hints it will sound more like their old stuff again which would please a lot more people
Guest Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 rock band 3 (Wii, Xbox 360, PS3) +- 763,636 green day rock band (Wii, Xbox 360, PS3) +- 692,755 worldwide sales (wii + xbox 360 + ps3) http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com
