Katarina. Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 They are number 16 in the year-end chart with 2.6 million copies sold. (883,250 copies in the US)http://www.mediatraffic.de/year-end-albums.htmNice (: I don't care about the numbers though. I know the album's amazing, so it's all good
Davepalooza Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Thing is in 20 years people will still be listening to Green Day '21st Century Breakdown' album, and not many will be listening to Miley Cyrus or any of the disney stars. It's an amazing album and makes the fans happy. That's all that should matter, not how many copies it has sold.

FreakingGreenDayFan Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Have you noticed that the record is back on the Billboard 200 and still on the UK top 100!
HoneyDo666 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Have you noticed that the record is back on the Billboard 200 and still on the UK top 100!It hasn't fallen out of the Billboard 200! Which is great!I predict, that with the musical, 2010 is going to be a great year for Green Day!

Which is great!I predict, that with the musical, 2010 is going to be a great year for Green Day!I think so too. Don't forget their first show at Wembley. Already 2010 has a lot going for them
Metanoia Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 i cant remember where i actually read it, but in one german albums of the year countdown they were on no. 9 =)
pisquano Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Have you noticed that the record is back on the Billboard 200 and still on the UK top 100!I don't agree with you...the album has been on the Bb 200 for 4 weeks since its re-entry...and now it's falling again. It re-entered because of the edited version of 21 guns but I predict that in one or two weeks it will be out of the chart. Same in the UK...the album is at #91 or something similar...the promotion needs a good single IMO.
Soroush Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 the sales hasn't increased after grammy?21 guns single is selling really good now. what about the album?
pisquano Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 The chart that is going out on Thursday shows the sales for the week after the Grammy Awards. I had a look to the US iTunes and the album last week sold well. Just wait until Thursday
Juliette Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Huhh, I thought they'd have sold more than that :/
Eeefaa. Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Have you noticed that the record is back on the Billboard 200 and still on the UK top 100!american idiot is still in the UK top 100!
GreenPunkPrincess Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Oh well, 2.6 copies sold is not bad, but this record deserves more.I mean, American Idiot hasn't something more than 21stCB, it deserved the same success of it, maybe more But guys, we liked it! This is the important! Who cares about numbers, THIS RECORD IS ABSOLUTELY GREAT!
no name Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 To be honest,I don't care how many it is sold........that's really great..and impressed me a lot......that's enough
green day blink 182 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 i hope it atleast goes platinum though! but ive heard its sold about 900,000 to 950,000 copies so far so hopefully it will be platinum soon:DD
Katarina. Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I don't care much about record sales, but on GD.com they said "from the multi platinum album '21st Century Breakdown'" That would be really awesome!
Hanna__ Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Well, that's still good. When 21st CB came for sale here, it sold gold in the first 10 hours!
Maura99 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 To be honest,I don't care how many it is sold........that's really great..and impressed me a lot......that's enough My thoughts exactly.
HoneyDo666 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Well, that's still good. When 21st CB came for sale here, it sold gold in the first 10 hours! That's why we love Scandanavia! JK, I love Scandanavia for lots of reasons!
Trotsky Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I illegally download everything so I'm neutral in this weird conflict everyone gets so excited over.
Nzap Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I illegally download everything so I'm neutral in this weird conflict everyone gets so excited over. You bad bad person. I only download things that are very hard to find (like a song from a Swedish Punk-band in 1980s) Otherwise I buy the stuff. Anyway, does anyone have any newer info regarding the album sales. Has the tour affected them at all?
pisquano Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I make approximations every week, because I follow every single chart all over the world...it has sold about 965,000 in the US and 2,985,000 worldwide according to my calculations...And it is doing very well in Finland ...some other data: Italy 115,000; France 145,000; UK 400,000; Japan 240,000
Velocity Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I illegally download everything so I'm neutral in this weird conflict everyone gets so excited over. I can understand downloading and I'm not against it, but I feel that unless you have a physical copy of it you can't appreciate the album in its entirety, nor all the artwork that goes into it. D: And those are kind of important to me so I rarely download. Back on topic, I'm surprised that 21CB hasn't sold at least a million in the U.S. Compared to their other albums, that's...not good. It's comparable to Warning's initial sales. And that's disappointing, considering how great both records are.
theclassof13 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Albums sales have lost their importance these days because most of the stuff that sells well is absolute crap! The only thing that really matters is that we enjoy the record and we appreciate for its genius. But it is still nice to know that its selling pretty well!
petros Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I don't think that almost 3 million sales is bad number nowadays... You know it's really hard to sell 15 million or something like they did in American Idiot just because it's very very easy to download whatever you want for free on the internet so...I think it's a success selling 3 million. Pisquano do you know anything about it's sales in Greece?
