Cool love this song. WHy arent they playing it this tour?

My guess is that they use the slower songs for a bit of "downtime" for the band and the audience. Time for everyone to calm down a bit and catch their breath. They probably felt like 21 Guns, Are We the Waiting, and Boulevard provided enough of that for a show that's really focused more on being high energy. That's just my guess, but it makes sense to me judging how it feels during the show.

I absolutely love this song... I actually didn't like it at all when it first came out and was being super overplayed on the radio. but when I started really getting into GD, I began to love it. Then when I found out what it was about it made the song even more touching and beautiful to me, and ever since I saw GD in concert the song has made me cry... it's just so sad and gives me this huge sense of longing, like I want to just relive the concert a million times. yeah, so I just love this song. sosososososo much.

Awwwww, what sweet thoughts! I wish I'd met you in Philly (or did I?).

aww no I didn't meet you, in fact I didn't even join GDC until a couple days after the concert unfortunately... although I definitely saw Lauren at the end of the catwalk with the cone on her head, haha :D

I love the version from BIAB.

Also the one from Gillette Stadium for the Katrina Relief, mostly because I was there. XD

I always loved this song. But I started to get tired of it when it was being overplayed. I have recently renewed my love for it though. :)

Kind of a random timing to do this (not really actually, I'm listening to it now actually), but I figured that even though I sometimes probably (have) annoy(ed) people with my endless  's, I hadn't ever really put anything like it in this thread, so, let's confess my love to this song once again but finally in an appropriate place.

I love this song  A lot. A whole lot. It means so much to me. Thankfully, not in the way that I've lost someone and therefore can relate to it. But this was the song that introduced me to Green Day (which is already a thing I very much love it for, seeing as Green Day, well, not gonna get too deep into that but I'd consider it one of the best things that ever happened to me.), it's one of the few songs I really loved the first time I heard it, got stuck in my head immediately and didn't go out. It's a very beautiful song, I don't think I need to explain that one. And last but most certainly not least, it's the song that Billie played on my request at the Rotterdam concert (and after that was permanently added to the set, spare one concert in Australia or something, the LA New Year gig, and two or three Asia/Japan gigs. aaaaaand it was the last line of the last concert of the decade, too. Sorry I begin about this once again, but really, I don't think I'll ever shut up about it ). Which, imo anyway, was and is amazing.

Wow, I really kind of sound like a mental patient in here

Yeah, I didn't really care for the video of this song, but I still love the song. The lyrics and music are so honest and heartfelt. And every time I see Billie Joe and the rest of the band perform this song, either live or on T.V. / DVD, it almost always brings tears to my eyes. It's just so powerful and raw.

This song is so personal to me, it's almost hard to explain why, but I'll try my best.

Back in September 2006 my grandad (who's helped raise me since the age of 2) had a stroke and was put into hospital for about 6 months. I remember on the day it happened I shut myself in my room, turned the radio on, and this was the first song that I heard. I cried my eyes out to it, but at the end of it all it made me feel like someone else had gone through a similar kind of pain as me.

I know the feeling, my dad passed away last July, and about all I could listen was Green Day, for some reason other music annoyed me too much.

So when it came around to organising music, I requested this song to be played, and then when I heard it played live in Sydney, it bought me to tears all over again. It is one of the best songs on American Idiot, and is the hardest to listen too.

So... right at this very moment, give or take a minute or two, it's exactly two years ago that I heard this song, fell in love with it, and became a Green Day fan. I thought it was amazing from that first moment on, and I still think that. Since that moment two years ago, I requested it in Rotterdam, Billie played it, it's been played at nearly every show since, they even started playing it partly full band, which was the greatest thing ever. I love this song.
