The Disappearing Boy Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 good stuff. there is still plenty of time for ejn to be a single.as well as RHS or the static age. now that would be awesome.
.Militza. Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 that's an odd way of putting it Whatever. Did the label chicken out of releasing East Jesus Nowhere or something? Are they too scared to release it? This single choice is tame, unadventurous and extremely disappointing to me. The album is so diverse, exciting, and adventurous. Why are they being so pathetically safe with their singles? It doesn't represent the brilliance of this album at all. If I'd only heard the singles I'd be thinking, "Know Your Enemy isn't quite as good as American Idiot. 21 Guns isn't quite as good as BOBD. 21st Century Breakdown is nowhere near as good as Holiday. So this album must not be as good as the last one!"But the album is amazing! They have now released the 3 most conventional sounding songs on the album in a row though, so who's to know that? I'm at a loss :/Exactly the same here. So much good songs on the album, and they're like picking the weakest. ok, 21 guns is nice, but if they're thinking topping AI, they gonna have to put out something better from album.
Mar Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I love EJN, but I'm also very excited about this after hearing that edited version of EJN. I hope they'll perform this at the VMAs!21CB is one of my favorites on the album.
Hermione Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 im somewhat disapointed too Hermie, but think of it this way. Would you rather have a full (or close to full) 21stCB with correct lyrics, or that wretched censored and re-written EJN going around? i'd rather the band salvage their dignity and use this song the way it was supposed to be, than assimilate a different song just for it to be "mainstream approved".silver lining hun Aww thanks I would still choose EJN though
Angela. Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Why the bloody hell has EJN been played so much on TV and stuff then? Tre even said he hoped it'd be a single. Could it be possible that the label was too afraid to release it because of it's content? As far as I can see they seem to like to market Green Day as a pretty safe band these days so the thought had crossed my mind before. Could that be possible? The idea depresses me.That idea depresses me, too.Prepare for a rant...I think your theory might be right. Warner does seem like they want GD to be playing it safe, and it pisses me off. 21stCB is an ambitious and brilliant album, in my opinion. Therefore, it's logical for the most ambitious songs to be released as singles. And EJN is one of those songs. Warner doesn't want to get any shit for doing something that some people may take as offensive. But you know what? That's exactly what we need more of these days: offensive, in your face, loud, abrasive content. It seems like these days, especially in the US, it's all about playing things safe and throwing imperfections in certain things such as religion under the rug. I'm personally sick of it. I'd love to see GD make a video for EJN, and I'd love for it to be as offensive, in your face, loud, and abrasive as possible. I would love to see people get rallied up over the video and get pissed off.[/rant] Sorry.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 It always gives me chills when the end of Song of the Century turns into the beginning of 21CB. If it was in a video, I would probably cry me too.anyways EJN would be distubing to watch with all the cencore shit they'd put in it.
.Militza. Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I really hate the fact that if EJN would be released as a single, people would be up at arms about it just because it questions something people aren't supposed to question. It's a rocking song, and it's absolutly amazing, clever, and powerful, but because the entire song is based upon questioning the hypocracy of religion, I'm sure the record company is afraid to release it. And if Green Day did release it, a lot of religious people wouldn't be too happy.I'd love to see that! The same thing American Idiot did back in '04!21CB is a good song, but near as good as EJN. Or Static Age, H&H, or Peacemaker.
farley drexel hatcher Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 If the label will let them release a song like American Idiot I highly doubt they'll have problems with them releasing a song like EJN.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Yeah that is so true I can't picture 21st Century Breakdown without the lead in from Song of the Century so I really hope that Marc Webb is wise and includes it in the video.THIS.If he doesn't include it,i'm gonna choke someone. :verymad: Like seriously, song of the century is what makes 21st CB full of emotion, and flavor.^^That sounded ccheessyyybut yes he CAN'T leave out song of the century,it would be like them leaving out jaded from brain stew.
.Militza. Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 If the label will let them release a song like American Idiot I highly doubt they'll have problems with them releasing a song like EJN.And that's what confuses me. They're going by their safest option. It sucks, big time.
NickD Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I guess the plus is that we'll likely see Blue return into the video, right? Not a bad song by any means. Just not a preferred single
Anko Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I knew 21CBD would be a single cool i guess this means it wont be the "new" version of ejn cant wait 4 the vma!!!!Um "new" version? did I miss something?
Rae'n'shine Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I know everybody isn't too confident in Marc Webb directing this video, but I really liked the video for 21 Guns. The video that's uncut, and has the full beginning and the middle slow part, is absolutely amazing, I thought. We need to have some confidence that Green Day isn't going to let him fuck up this important song. After all, it's fucking Green Day! They know what they're doing. I'm guessing that EJN will be released sometime in the beginning of the new year. Of course it will be edited for radio and all it's going to get a lot of shit from conservative, right wing religious nuts. We just have to be patient Ok, I'm done trying to be really optimistic.
Hayley Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Neat. Im excited to see how the vid will turn out.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 i'm happy with this video as long as SOTC is in it.

I totally agree with you, and I'd love to see that too, but it's probably just that they're not very good at picking singles. Certainly seems like it!
HoneyDo666 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I'm so excited! They should play it at the VMAs!It will be EPIC!And yes to Song of the Century, it's beautiful!
GDM Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 EJN has some strong lyrics, but so does 21CB. "Homeland Security," "Scream, America, Scream" as well as "bastards of 1969" is going to get folks as riled up as EJN would have with sodomizing dogs and stuff. Haha. This is a slow burning album. There is plenty of time for EJN to come out.

I totally agree with you, and I'd love to see that too, but it's probably just that they're not very good at picking singles. Certainly seems like it!Yes! I mean why to pick KYE for first single? So much better songs... But ok. And I'm totally disappointed in this choice. I want EJN! I think we all do.
green_melly Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 hell yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!! can't wait to see it! though i kind of expected american eulogy or east jesus nowhere as the next single
Aurora Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 well damn! I didn't know marc webb directed Waiting and 500 Days of Summer!!waiting is definitely one of my favorite Green Day music videos and I've been dying to see 500 Days of Summer for the past month since it's not playing in any movie theaters near me.

I expected a video from them like in december or next year. :/
