Mar Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Regardless of how edited it may be, I will probably absolutely freak the first time I hear it on the radio.
poisonoak Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 so does this mean that they r gonna play ejn at the vma?
Jack96 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 It's been confirmed for months that EJN is the new single.Cool
The Disappearing Boy Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Oooh, I'm interested to hear the rewritten lyrics. Until then, I won't comment on how stupid the idea is. And I remember once watching the video for Teenage Dirtbag by Weezer - they kept the word 'dick' in, but censored out 'gun'. What the fuck? yeah that made me laugh.Well yeah, you kinda have to edit for the radio, but they didn't edit the CD.It's been confirmed for months that EJN is the new single.i don't remember that. where/when was it confirmed?
MascaraTears Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I haven't heard it on the radio yet... but that does annoy me. I do get that something has to be done to make it playable for most radio stations, but the whole principle of the thing... like someone said, the majority of rap songs on the radio are full of awful things that are barely bleeped out, if at all, so why should a song with actual meaning have to get butchered to be "appropriate"?
Tubbie Head Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I don't really see a portuguese radio censoring Green Day... At all
Hermione Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I don't have a problem with words being cut out to comply with broadcasting rules, that's not even up to the radio station. People listening can hear the blank space and find out what the lyric was if they want to. It's only the idea of substituting different words that bothers me - that's an insult to the song and to the listener! If it was sanctioned by Warner then I really don't know why Green Day continue to be on such a label, but I hope it wasn't and it was just that station. Just have to wait and see what it sounds like on the radio when it's released.
Green Daynger25 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I just love how songs can say ass but not asshole. The say ass but bleep out hole. I give it maybe til 2015 when the US finally lets the FCC die. There was an old radio station that was all uncensored until they were forced to stop, only station I listened to.

Songs are censored for the US and they often just use the same version here, but it sounds so silly because neither word is particularly offensive here, especially god. Also why do they bleep 'zip' when it says 'like a zip gun on parade' on St. Jimmy?

Ive never heard St. Jimmy on the radio. Ive only seen the video from BIAB on Fuse. They never censor out the actual swear word. Its always the word before.

The censored version of St Jimmy is ridiculous! Specially when it's on TV, they bleep "zip gun" (or sometimes just "zip" like you said) "Assassin" and "dope" to name a few. When you think about some of the stuff that is left to be aired in hip hop or rap songs it's stupid. And there is really no point in them ever airing the JOS video what with the amount of stuff they blur out.
Maddy. Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 The video for the BIAB version of St. Jimmy is on MTV.com and they silence the "zip" part of "zip gun" weird :/The censored version of St Jimmy is ridiculous! RogueBreakdown Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 starr is okay but sometimes they just get annoying like seriously like when they play too much kings of leon.. and too many commercials..oh I remember a few years back every other song on 98.7 was fucking Maroon 5..... I started out thinking hey this isn't bad to OMG TURN IT OFF OR I'LL PUKE!!! They need to learn how to SHUFFLE music or something I mean come on I could do a better job of playing cool music then those lazy morons.

Vanilla Shake Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Don't listen to radio.Listen to Sirius/XM - all uncensored.
DarrenDookie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Im confused now. If 21st Century Breakdown is the next single, why was this released on the radio?
Alex. Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Im confused now. If 21st Century Breakdown is the next single, why was this released on the radio? my thoughts exactlyunless the EJN video is a live compilation or something?
minorityxdisturbed Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Sometimes radios do what they want, the mix song or they play songs that aren't singles
The Daughter of Rage and Love Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Also why do they bleep 'zip' when it says 'like a zip gun on parade' on St. Jimmy? They do worse here. They censor "zip gun," "assassin," "dope," "cocaine," and of course "fuck."I also don't understand why they censored "fag" in AI and Holiday. They also cut out most of the part where Billie says "Zieg Heil...."Out of the 10 lines in that part, I only recall hearing about 5 or 6. :/Sometimes radios do what they want, the mix song or they play songs that aren't singlesSirius/XM radio do that all the time. I love it.
Sanity Loan Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I just heard EJN on my local rock station Rock 108It was not edited or anything like people have been sayingBut it doesn't surprise me that this station played it because they played the 21CB demo A LOT when it "leaked"
