Sharmellow Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Censorship has been way too uptight lately. What happened to freedom of speech?
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Ugh, it's so stupid. I remember they once played the live version of St. Jimmy on tv and censored the word "assassin."and in an unrelated matter, on Comedy Central the word "holocaust" was censored on Bo Burnham's special.Censorship is fucking ridiculous, and this song is really not the worst out there in terms of content.Totally agree. I have heard the word "zip" censored outta St.Jimmy. Zip. Pur-lease. Fucking assholes
Sharmellow Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Totally agree. I have heard the word "zip" censored outta St.Jimmy. Zip. Pur-lease. Fucking assholes :down:Seriously?
Trotsky Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 The fact that there still is censorship is just a reflection of an immature society. The local modern rock station in my area called 97x is pretty good about it though, they're minimalists with censorship. They just censor the vowel sound of 'fuck'. They leave 'shit' some of the time and never censor god damn.I'm feeling a little disappointed in the boys at the moment. The went toe to toe with Walmart to preserve the intergrity of the music without editing and then don't just edit but actually rewrite for radio. There's voice over technology, Green Day didn't necessarily consent.

somedaygirl Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 No whole line needs editing. I'm guessing the Radio Powers didn't like "sodomized" 3 syllables or "god" 1 syllable. Easy to fix:Like a dog that's been (guitar in front)I never asked you (stretch aaaaaa) damn thingKeeps most of it intact. Rewriting - badly - to suit the RPs looks like a sell-out. Maybe it's just for some markets where the listeners are more conservative...I'm in Houston. But this station is playing Crazy Bitch unedited except for the word fuck so I'd say other more liberal markets may get this version as well. And that vocal I heard was Billie. Or someone who sounds exactly like him singing lyrics he didn't write in a song he did, which I would have to think is a copyright issue.
amy_runs Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 WTFWhen I hear the song I'm gonna scream the lyrics they edit out. That'll show 'em. notThis is ridiculous though. Stupid rappers can talk about drugs and sex and crap but a rock band can't talk bout a dog being sodomized. Tisk tisk
Astrid. Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 At least it's on the radio :/ . All you hear these days is shitty music. So, to hear Green Day once in a while is nice.
Lauren Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Censorship has been way too uptight lately. What happened to freedom of speech? Well, I don't know about the radio, but my dad said technically on cable TV they can say whatever they want. However, radio stations and TV shows want listeners/viewers, and if they leave everything uncensored, it will lower that number because most parents won't want their kids listening to that stuff.

It's not censored at all. But if you look at mtv, they do censor parts. Bit strange
music_that_is Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 So how/where can I find this 'censored version' ?
Trotsky Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 So how/where can I find this 'censored version' ?You people are masochists.
Anja Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 That was to expect. But it still sucks I just heard 21Guns in the radio and they cut out the middle part, the best part actually. Okay, it´s not the same but still
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Wait, if testified is in there twice are you sure the station haven't just copy and pasted another line from the song? They do that with Longview when it comes on TV, so the same line is in there twice, or two lines are in there twice. I've seen it on a lot of songs and it sounds odd.I can't see them rewriting the song for radio, at all

SlappyDJ1 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I actually want to hear this. This reminds me of my plague (new abuse edit) by slipknot. they replaced bullshit with abusive.
Guest Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 well thats pretty lame. im surprised they even released it as a single if they knew it was going to be edited that much.
music_that_is Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 You people are masochists. just out of curiosity. Gee!
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 what just came to my mind:I can remember a song that included about 500 fucks. I think the song was by a German rapper. And I'm sure that they didn't edit anything. Not on mtv, not on the radio.
