ScreamsInSilence815 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 There's a couple.Horseshoes and Handgrenades, definitely. Also, I'll listen to Macy's Day Parade whenever I'm in a sad mood, and Billie's voice in it makes me feel better for some weird reason. Also, Only of You reminds me of a guy I liked all through middle and high school.
Caden Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 The most influential Green Day song for me is probably She. Its the kind of song that makes me think of my past but in a hopeful light. Like nothing can hurt me anymore. X.x; That sounded incredibly gay and I'm sorry. Oh! And Holiday. It makes me feel like destroying the System. Seeing it live made me go all kinds of anti-war.
GreenDayHolic19 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I resemble the most with Wake Me up When September Ends...I lived he same trauma as Billie when he was 10...the only difference is that I was 13.I also love Basketcase. When I want to go all crazy I listen to that and to St. Jimmy. It`s awesome how much energy these songs are giving to me.Either I`m upset or happy I look at Bullet In a Bible. So I can`t say it`s just one song that moves me. All of them have a little bit of my personality and every each one of them describes me perfectly.

jose armstrong Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 damnit, you guys' taste in inspiration sucks.Beatles have always been my inspiration, George harrison's "while my guitar gently wheeps" (either white album, LOVE version or demo acoustic version) makes me feel something, a desire to be a better musician, better guitar player, just makes me feel great.my favorite Beatles song "Across the universe" is simply the best song ever written for me, no one will ever top that song's lyrics and spirit, very inspirational (of not the most inspiring song ever for me)the Beatles "Love" album is also has a huge motivation for me to perform like no one else, my dream is playing that album from font to back live. (any volunteers?)then there's when who, queen, some green day songs too, (JOS being one).that and pretty much every act that revolutionized musicEDIT: shit I didn't know it was only Green Day
GreenDayHolic19 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 This.uhmm i don`t get you...really i wish I could but i don`t really get your point there
Penguin Puffball Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 thats exactly me too!i think holiday is the biggest song that makes me wanna scream fuck you to just nobody. haha. i know its mean, but it just makes me wanna say it.they inspired me a lot too. its kinda hard to explain, but everytime i hear a green day song i want to write my own songs...I usually listen to Green Day if I feel like writing. I'll just wanna go off and write something, anything, and I'll listen to them.Has anyone else had something happen to them exactly like the lyrics to Paper Lanterns?YESYESYESYESYES!!!!Just I have to change the lyrics to "we WERE only friends".
!Viva La Analee! Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 WMUWSE, Jesus of Suburbia, Minority, Macy's Day Parade, and EJN.
packers182 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Basket Case, American Eulogy, and like some else said Holiday live are my 3.
Brian Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 It's hard for me to choose which songs are influential to me cause I always find a new song to add to the list. But if i had to pick one, it would have to American Idiot.
Juan Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Scattered. There's something very special about that song. Must be the "Well's" in every sentence. 86. Walking alone. Haushinka. Church on sunday
rage-love-life Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Mine would probably be JoS, because it's such a great song and I feel inspired every time I hear it. But sometimes it depends on my mood, too, I sometimes need a happy song or a sad song to get me happy again or stay happy.
Ila Reto Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 every song holds a special meaning or memory to me. unless you want a post that goes on forever, i dont think i'm gonna go any further. what a pointless post from me
Guest Roz Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 There are a ton, but mostly JOS. That song is so emotional and takes so many turns that by the end of it I'm feeling much better, or much more at ease with myself.
Maddy. Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 uhmm i don`t get you...really i wish I could but i don`t really get your point there I mean that every song has a certain amount of emotion for me, that I can relate to. If you get that. I suck at explaining things, you know
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 every single song moves me in another way ..but I gotta go with Jesus of Suburbia

Anja Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 There´s a ton of songs I can relate to in many ways - like Welcome to paradise (I´ll never forget the moment when I heard it live for the first time), Christie Road (walking along Christie Road while listening to the song was just super touching and unbelievable), Dry Ice, Blvd. of broken dreams, Good Riddance, The Static Age and so many more. But the song that influenced me the most just has to be "Jesus of Suburbia". No matter how I´ve overlistened this song, it will always be the one that influenced me the most, especially in my writing and thinking.
dolce Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 A lot of songs have really special meaning to me, so it's impossible to choose just one as being the "most influential". Here are just a few:Good Riddance, because it was my favorite song long before I even knew who did it.Last Night on Earth, because of the line "I walked for miles 'til I found you". It's such a simple line, and I realize it's a love song, but for me that represented me not realizing who I really was until I finally found Green Day. Song of the Century/21st Century Breakdown - I was just overwhelmed hearing these for the first time. You have to understand that the night 21CB came out, my grandfather was dying and I knew at any moment my mom would call and say that he was gone. I was depressed and scared, and really didn't know what to do with myself. Then, I waited until midnight, bought the CD off of Itunes as soon as it was available, shut my door, turned the lights out, and just - listened. I knew the days ahead wouldn't be easy, but right then and there, it was just me and my favorite band. I, if only for a little while, was able to shut out the rest of the world and just be happy. It also really affected me (and would have even without the surrounding situations) just knowing that I heard so many critics, and fans, say that GD couldn't make another great album. I kept my faith in them, but when for a while it went months and months without any news, it was easy to begin to wonder if GD would ever come back, and if they did, if we would even recognize them anymore. But they DID IT. To me, they created the best record they've ever made, and it was absolutely stunning. I felt such pride listening to it for the first time (and still do!). That was a long winded story, sorry. Minority is a very important song to me because of the whole "individuality" message. Especially the "marching out of time, to my own beat now" line. Before the Lobotomy moves me every time I hear it. A) because after hearing it in concert twice, I think it's the most beautiful song I've ever heard live. It's filled with emotion and Billie conveys all those emotions. B) Because of how sweet he sounds in it. Its not often you find a singer (a rock singer, especially) that sings just the way the song calls for. He sings it PERFECTLY. It's so beautiful. That's just a couple special ones for me.
