Lauren Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Christie Road and Pasalacqua are not rare. they play them more than like... Letterbomb!
Spastic Socialite Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Well kiddies, theres only one thing to do.Make a fucking sign and get the song played.Do it.LOL is what I say to that
GDM Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I made a sign for "I Was There" at San Antonio, but didn't pull it out. There wasn't really any "request" moments at SA, anyway.
mad hatter. Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 It's too hard to yell C&V because it has too many syllables. BJA will go 'what ... what's that?' We need to yell something short like 'Android' or 'Jinx' for him to read our lips/ It's hard to get requests out when kids around you are yelling for 'Basket Case' and 'Minority' during request hour.So make a sign...everything that i've seen requested so far has been on a sign. They probably won't hear you if you're just screaming at them. youre going to be in an ARENA...
Zalex Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Does nobody understand the concept of request signs?I got them to play 4 songs via PAPER AND MARKER.
Sarahnade. Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Does nobody understand the concept of request signs?I got them to play 4 songs via PAPER AND MARKER.Haha, you sure do. (Fucking AWESOME, btw.) Yeah, try a sign. A BIG SIGN. But some shows don't allow signs, so, figure out a great way to hide it or something. And get people around you to chant, "CIGS AND 'TINES! CIGS AND 'TINES! CIGS AND 'TINES!" Haha.
Bohemian+Scandal Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 What happened to Paulina and her friend who recently joined???They got Soundcheck passes in San Jose....Did they say anything about C&V?
*withoutadoubt* Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 It also works to just write on your palm with a sharpie - in Philly, I did it, and Bilie Joe saw and read what I wrote (which was 'Waiting'). He dismissed it tho and didn't play it obviously. But I'm not complaining - we got Novacaine I was thinking about this C & V thing, too - maybe it's gonna be one of the songs in the musical and he's just trying it out?

I probably would have a better shot at 86 being played than Take Back.
Green Day Nerd Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 well i needed to add something that i just realized to this thread. If cigarettes and valentines (the song) wasnt recognized as a song from the network album by whoever heard it then i guess that means Money Money 2020 is not Cigarettes and Valentines (the album). so no more speculation about that at least. bout time.
GDM Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 A hardcore charge of "F.O.D." in Hartford got them to sing for the first time. I mean, Hartford was ADAMANT.And coordinated...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK0X9JoNWhw
Heather! Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 ^ :o I would kill for them to play that at a show I went to.I wanna hear more about Cigarettes and Valentiiiiiiiines
fashionvictim86 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Ugh, I think Green Day goes online and see how they suprised us the night before and they're like "well, wtf can we do tonight to blow them out of the water?" Did you notice how the first couple of shows really didn't have any surprises, then they starting pulling stuff out of nowhere. I still loved that they played Novacaine at our show. Seeing Billie Joe right in front of me, so close, singing that. Man, I almost cried. My best friend DID cry during Time of Your Life. Personal reasons.
*withoutadoubt* Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 ^I lost it when I looked over at her during that song. Hehe yeah I should have wrote Take Back or 86 like we talked about. I probably would have a better shot at 86 being played than Take Back. How awesome would either of those songs be live?!!! I read in one of the threads tho, that they don't know 86 anymore, and who really would request Take Back?? Hehe. *raises hand* How funny would it be to hear the middle of that song screamed by thousands, lol.

Personal reasons.Ugh, my tears would have been jerked as well. And I think you're right. I also think they were unsure about what to play from the new album, because they didn't know what would work or not, and what the crowd would enjoy or not. I don't think they know yet, even. They seem to be playing around with Murder City, playing it some shows, and not on others. Same with Last Night on Earth. But I can't help but feel a tad bit jealous. I mean, at my show in July, we got nothing! No surprises. It was still amazing, but THE VERY NEXT DAY, Billie did the Macy's Day Parade acoustic solo, and I was just like...ugh!

Hehe. *raises hand* How funny would it be to hear the middle of that song screamed by thousands, lol.Who Marie? The reason why is because we lost a friend last year in February. Him and her were REALLY close. He knew how much we loved Green Day. In fact, he was a singer in the most popular local band around here, and they would always play/learn Green Day for us. And during the song they played "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy" by Big & Rich, there's a part that goes "sang her every Willie Nelson song I could think of" he changed Willie Nelson to Green Day. Every single time. So anyway, during Time of Your Life, she said she felt as though John was telling her that everything was going to be ok. I could imagine Billie's face if he saw someone requesting Take Back. He'd be like, "wtf, seriously?"
Sarahnade. Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I could imagine Billie's face if he saw someone requesting Take Back. He'd be like, "wtf, seriously?" He probably doesn't even REMEMBER that song! He'd be like, "What song? Take Back? Who's it by? ...Oh, it's OUR song? What album is that off of?" LMFAO. Maybe not that bad, but something close, hahaha. That would be awesome live, though. Getting the crowd to growl and scream. That would be epic.

I know the story, and it's so sweet - she told me about it when she asked me to send her the video I took during that song. I cried, too - I didn't even know the story at the time. The whole thing was just so emotional for me.

That's awesome. That song has also been a big thing for our group of friends, Marie, me, Calvin (the guy at the show if you remember), and Susan (Calvin's wife). That's why I have around my tattoo of the guitar with our initials "For what it's worth, it was worth all the while."
GDM Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I know it's not Cigs and Vals (which is chantable and might get his attention), but there's a full video Mother Mary being sung to J'net at San Jose:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxe3zxBNJbk

Andrick Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 that would be cool to actually hear cigarettes and valentines

I love your tattoos - they are so beautiful, and I love when they have special meaning like the guitar one. Ok, I need to stop spamming this thread and go to sleep. Got a plane to catch in 5 hours. Night'all.
