Ugh, that's weird. Lmfao.

Yeah, I would've laughed in that dudes face if he gave me that. I'd be like, "No thanks, I'm good." Haha.

No kidding. I didn't know what it was and he just handed two to me so I took them. They're on my wall :P

^^Yeah. I'm not sending a hateful email, but I'm working on an email right now that I'm going to send. I'm just asking them why they did it, basically. I'm pretty proud of how polite it is, haha.

Scientology is probably another inspiration for East Jesus Nowhere.

I think this is just more of a reason for GD to perform EJN at the VMAs, kick those bitches in the ass!

It could very well be, haha.

And, omg, yes! They should.

:)

And I just sent an email.

I kinda doubt I'll get a reply, but, whatever.

Of ALL the bands to choose from. Really.

I know! Haha, that's exactly what I though.

I do kind of find the irony amusing, though. They write a song about religion, and some religion plasters them on some posters without their permission. I think it's funny that it happened, even though I don't like that it happened. But I can't help but finding the weird irony funny, lmfao.

do I really need to ask this again?

Ah, sorry, I forgot to reply your post. There is no proof in this thread. I have asked before as well.

Scientology is organized crime, most definitely.

I have disdain for almost all religious groups and think most of them are profit seeking, but scientologists definitely go the furthest to prove that.

When reading my post, I actually thought, that part of this applies to the christian churches as well...

I refrained from calling it organized crime explicitly, because I don't know enough about them, but I have tendencies to see it that way.

I'm actually surprised, that the public opinion in the U.S. is so different from the one in Germany regarding Scientology. Or at least it seems so to me, but I have only limited access to that of course. I remember the uproar in the German media about Tom Cruise playing Stauffenberg in Valkyrie. This decision faced a lot of critizism, because one famous supporter of an organization, that is known for using methods near to fascism to control their members, was chosen to play a person, who decided to act against a fascist regime. Scientology and some U.S. media then commented back by "drawing the Nazi card" like: Germany still has fascist tendencies because of not respecting the freedom of religion.

They have been accused several times for harrassing and threatening members, who wanted to get out of this so called "church" up to the accusation of murdering them.

My impression (due to what I have learned at school or from the German media) was always, that it is not a religion, but a multicorporate enterprise with criminal tendencies. They use psychological tricks to get control over their members and exploit them financially. They are also accused of conveying a fascist mindset. Here in Germany they are under surveillance by the intelligence service, because they are also known for infiltrating important positions in the state and especially the industry.

Thats what they need to do in this country, they need the CIA to keep tabs on them and their members and well the Germans pretty much hit what they are all about on the head

I couldn't believe this when Bex told me on the phone this morning. Using their name in vain to promote such a distasteful cult... bah.

I know it really pisses me off that the Scientologists would stoop to the level of using Green Day's name for their own shamless promotion. That really burns me up and pisses me off

*snort* The idiocy and well as the irony of this whole thing is quite funny. Another reason I wished I lived in California, hah. I am looking forward to Billie's response as well, should be interesting.

*Sigh* If I lived in the States...

I remember when we talked about religions at our Sociology class. The professor said scientology is actually a cult, even though they say Church of scientology.

So basically, they're lying from the very whole beginning. And now these posters... Bastards.

Man, I want to kick someone's ass.

I just saw this on FB, what the FUCK?

Seriously! It really does just make them look extra laughable and desperate, even more than usual.

I think a state has an obligation to defend secular freedom, first and foremost. Freedom of religion should always be secondary to freedom from it.

We tolerate religion so god damn much here they can control us.

I don't know if David Campbell is Beck's father, but from what I understand, Beck is a Scientologist. Which disappointed because I like Beck.

I want to see the posters. Not that seeing the posters would somehow make me think the scientologists are right to use Green Day to promote themselves, I'm just curious. It's never cool to take somebody's image or their work and use it to promote yourself without their consent. I can't blame Green Day for not wanting to be tied to that shit. Some friends of my family's live next door to some scientologists and they've got some crazy stories about them.

I concur. But I want to wait to see the context and hear what Green Day has to say. It's difficult to convey calls to action from a Facebook status, methinks? Is anything on the Lushotology Church on Facebook?

haha, i couldn't figure out if that guy was being truthful or snarky about that! haha...
