Ila Reto Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 ^ lyrically and [melody?], the whole nimrod album is definately a favorite. building on hermione and my do da da lyric mystery, what the heck is"moving on and i always thought i realized you've imagined"supposed to mean? it's one of those songs where you can't figure it out yet somehow you know exactly what they mean by it. and from Uptight"perfect picture of bad health, another notch scratched on my belt""Future just ain't what it used to be"and "Future's in my living room"that song pretty much summed up this past spring for me.
sarita Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 One of my favorites off of Nimrod is Walking Alone.."Sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut or only say helloSometimes I still feel I'm walking alone."I identify cuz sometimes I really should learn to keep my mouth shut!
Ally Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 "do you ever think back, to another time, does it bring you so down that you thought you lost your mind" from having a blast seems to be my favourite at the moment, it just sums everything up nicely in my life. loland "what the fuck did i get myself into, with you" from pieces of truth, reminds me of my ex...

"I've got a knack for fucking everything up, my temper flies and I get myself all wound up!" Billie has a knack for singing any song perfectly to fit the mood and the lyrics and everything together into a single perfect experience.

Billie has a knack for singing any song perfectly to fit the mood and the lyrics and everything together into a single perfect experience.I like the part where he sings "Spontaneous combustion panic attack.." And yes, Billie is truly gifted when it comes to songwriting and getting across whatever mood the song conveys
sharon mitchell Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 From Walking Alone - Walk on eggshells on my old stomping ground.Major revision time - can I just say that every lyric of every song on Nimrod owns me, heart and soul. Whatever place Billie was at when he wrote the stuff for that album, I hope he went there again to write the new album.
Hermione Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 ^I couldn't agree more. There's just something about Nimrod that gets right under my skin. I love Scattered,"Loose ends tied in knots Leaving a lump down in my throatGagging on a souvenierLodged to fill another year"and"If you got on one and I've got no place to goWould it be alright? Could it be alright?"Yeah actually the whole song
chickin'pickin' Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I've been to the year 3000,not much has changed but they live underwater, and your great great great granddaughter,is pretty fine
Lady Liberty Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I do not mind if this goes onCause now it seems I'm too far goneI must admit that I enjoy myself80 please keep taking me away
J'net Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 "If you got on one and I've got no place to go"If you got on which one?I LOVE funny typos!I LOVE this song, too! The first lines"I've got some scattered pictures lying on my bedroom floor,Reminds me of the times we've shared,Makes me wish that you were here."He sounds so wistful when he sings that, and it gives me this strong nostalgic feeling for all (well some) of my past ...

Scattered is one of my favorite green day songs.Worry Rock"yelling at brick walls and punching windows made of stone""where do we go from here and what did you do with the directions?promise me no dead end streets and i'll guarantee we'll have the road."Also one of billie's best solos. So amazing.
sarita Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 "I was head over heels when I hit the manhole coverKathleen walked up, said you alright? No I'm in pain, duh"Is Kathleen a Billie song or an Aaron song?

So .... real life."I was head over heels when I hit the manhole coverKathleen walked up, said you alright? No I'm in pain, duh"Is Kathleen a Billie song or an Aaron song?According to the CD and All Music Guide, it's an Aaron song."I was head over heels when I hit the manhole coverKathleen walked up, said you alright? No I'm in pain, duh"Is Kathleen a Billie song or an Aaron song? And, BTW, I love that song, too. I also love the lines:"In my proud boy dumbnessHalf drunk, half sexed,Half consciousLenny had said, "Shouldn't you check it?"I said, checking is for wimps"and"She said, "Just show me where it hurts"I said, you can pick me up and take me homeOr just join me on the ground"

I wasn't sure who wrote it. I've been on a Pinhead Gunpowder kick lately "Help me back to last year, now that was something elseGive me something to escape from besides myself."
Hermione Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 If you got on which one?I LOVE funny typos!Ahaha, now all I can think of is possible dirty meanings of my typo.... Must've been my subconscious mind that caused it I'm sure I've already quoted pretty much every line from Redundant, but,"Choreographed and lack of passionPrototypes of what we wereWhet full circle til I'm nauseousTaken for granted now I waste it, faked it, ate it, now I hate it"I love how he descibes that frustrated feeling, especially with the way he sings the last line. The song seems so sad and reflective, yet still so full of hope. The way he expresses those raw emotions in such a beautiful, delicate way is amazing to me, "I love you's not enough, I'm lost for words"
Ila Reto Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 i listened to nimrod in class today and i forgot how much i loved that album. Walking Alone is such a wonderful song, it's like admiting your wrong and realizing that you have to know when to throw in the towel. "Sometimes i need to apoligise, sometimes i need to admit that i ain't rightsometimes i should just keep my mouth shut, or only say hellosometimes i still feel im walking alone". Scattered will forever be in my overall top 10. but sometimes i dont understand what the lyrics mean. yet i still get what they're saying. lol
Pineapple Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 i don't particularly have a favourite because i like all Green Day song's but if i had to chose;"stepped out of the line, like a sheep runs from the herd"its amazing, and it has such a good meaning behind it, to be an individual and suchlove it
xXGreenDayStreetXx Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 right now it's Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me from Blvd of broken dreams
Jack96 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 you better run or your fucking life from letterbomb. i just love how he sings it.
Ingrid Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I realized this morning that I really love the line 'I listen to reason if the reason is true' from The Pedestrian, because that is so true.
sharon mitchell Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I had Letterbomb on in the car earlier -So strike a fucking match to light this fuse..........It's not so much the words but the way that he sings them

It's an awesome album.
sarita Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 "Do you have the time to listen to me whine?"Basket Case just came on the radio at work! That's the song that made me fall in love with Green Day back in the day
