Teenage Kicks! Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I love the "ha ha ha at your family" and the attitude with which he sings it!... and Song of My Returning ...Yes! That is my favorite part. I also love when it switches and Jason sings, "Our friends will be surprised to see me smiling on you."My brother heard the change before I did. I haven't heard that one.
DeJennsitized Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Just thought of one, "marching out of time, to my own beat now" from Minority. I like the way it's metaphorical to fit in with the parade theme of the song, but it also means being different from the majority; being yourself.I found out the lyrics to Kathleen not long ago, after listening to it for like a year. I found them to be quite funny, especially the last verse;"And we could have some kids, if we're lucky they'll be gayAnd we could be proud parents in the pride paradeI swear I almost cry every year when they go byIf I'd only been a girl instead of a guy"

mandypants19 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I love the "ha ha ha at your family" and the attitude with which he sings it!... and Song of My Returning ...Thats's my favorite part of that song! The "ha ha ha at your family" that is. The way he sings it is just awesomeness
J'net Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Thats's my favorite part of that song! The "ha ha ha at your family" that is. The way he sings it is just awesomeness There's no doubt about it - Billie Joe Armstrong knows how to use his voice perfectly in every song. Sometimes he sounds like a little brat; sometimes he sounds like a sleazy, boozed up, weak-willed scumbag (but still irresistible); sometimes he sounds so plaintive and sweet; then he can sound incredibly sexy (as we all know); evil; adorable; kooky; sick & twisted; wasted; sad; reckless & carefree ... you name it, he can do it!I love the way he laughs at the end of Highway 1, and for a lyric, how about this one:I'll tell you whyWhooo!Alright! From Right Hand-A-Rama and TOTALLY MADE by the way he sings it!

Hermione Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 That is such a perfect description of Billie Joe I love it!I'd just like to second that. A wonderful way to descibe a wonderful voice Today, I love this. So sweet"Open the past and present and the future tooIt's all I've got and I'm giving it to you"Also, Bab's Uvula Who?"I've got a knack for fucking everything upMy temper flies and I get myself all wound up"In fact make that the whole song. It just screams 'tense and angry' so well, in the lyrics and music. Perfect

"I take a look aroundAt the things I've foundI call it blind hateredIf you stop for a while and maybe if you smileYou will realize that we're all the same"GOTTA LOVE THAT. Road to Acceptance.

And this too"I always waste my time just wonderingWhat the next man thinks of meI'll never do exactly what I wantAnd I'll sculpt my life for your acceptance" Adore that song

I would call him a chameleon, except he doesn't exactly blend in with his background Love Ha Ha your dead, too!I'd just like to second that. A wonderful way to descibe a wonderful voice Today, I love this. Something about the tempo and (do I have to say it again?) the way he sings it, makes it so perfect!

Teenage Kicks! Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I love how he sounds like a little brat in this one, of course!"Mom and Dad don't look so hot these daysThey're getting over the hill.."His brat voice is my favorite. "I beg to differ on the contrary"Walking Contradiction! My mom loves the way he says contrary...when she pointed it out.I was like, "WOW I love the way he says that too."
sarita Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 and his voice in "Dark Side of Night" "There's a rain tonight fallin' from the sky..."
Hermione Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 ^Couldn't agree more, I'm addicted to his voice in that song. And oh my, Red Tide....
sarita Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 ^Oh my, indeed! Don't you just love it when he sings the main part? "Is this passion or...Or your red tide"
Hermione Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 ^Mmm hmm, of course. And the sigh right after the main part
mandypants19 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 From Stop Drop and Roll"Sixteen and a son of a bitch, got a gun and a strychine (hah, sp?) twitch. Little girl on the graveyard shift, outta control and doesn't give a shit! YEAHHH!!!!!" Also from Stop Drop and Roll "Losing control, break my sanity! YEAHHHHHHH!!!!" I'm not really sure exactly what Billie says at the end of that second quote, but it sounds kinda like he's saying "yeah". Oh, well. From Broadway"I....I'm just killing time now, I do it all the time now, and it's killing me. I...I polished the bottle, I'm throwin down the throttle, drinkin gasoline" I'm sure I've posted that before but I just really love that song
sarita Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 ^Agree. Broadway is great. I love how he pronounces "bottle""You're spilling all the wine nowOn Hollywood and Vine nowIt's Lushotology"
Hermione Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 From Pieces Of Truth, this is awesome"Little pieces of sticksAnd a bucket of stones"and"Diggin' troubleWith a shovel" I love his choice of words. Basically, all the lyrics on the album are fantastic, they're so full of energy and pizzazz
sarita Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 From Sally:"Well come on baby take a chance and get your shit together."(I always find myself singing that part...)And from 27th Ave. Shuffle:"Junkyard days and toxic waste, still love is on my mind."
Ila Reto Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 From Pieces Of Truth, this is awesome"Little pieces of sticksAnd a bucket of stones"and"Diggin' troubleWith a shovel" I love his choice of words. Basically, all the lyrics on the album are fantastic, they're so full of energy and pizzazz hah those are probably the most entertaining lines from pieces of truth!(even though i know the lyrics, from before when i didn't sometimes i still say "little pieces of sex & a bucket of stones" )from Sally i love the way he says "drop your shadow on a subway wall, back in the shadow we can hear the call" and even though im not a big fan of Aligator, when he goes "'better get your moving!" it comes out more like "spetta getchea movin!"lol im a dork!
Hermione Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 and even though im not a big fan of Aligator, when he goes "'better get your moving!" it comes out more like "spetta getchea movin!"LOL, you're totally right!Oh and that's my favourite line from Sally too Even though I used to think it said "Rub your shadow on a subway wall", which would make it an even better lyric in my expert opinion
hardtoconcentrate Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 ^Mmm hmm, of course. And the sigh right after the main part Hell yeah.
