Eirik Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 The end of Hitchin' A Ride and Reject are both just gibberish, Billie Joe has said so himself.
Jet Taman Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hey, I'm all about knowing the words to sing along at the concert too--it's just fun to do!here are a few tips to make yourself seem like you know what you're doing (it helped me after I went to the Philly show to know when I went to the DC show).During "Static Age" right before he goes into the chorus instead of singing "Screaming at you..." he counts "1-2-3-4!" It's cool to count along During "Life Before the Lobotomy", he does a crowd callout of "WHISKEY SHOTS AND CHEAP CIGARETTES!". No one, and I mean NO ONE, around me in my section knew the song, knew the lyrics, so I felt really strange being the only one screaming it at the top of my lungs, so be prepared....It's also cool to sing along to the "Sing us a song of the century..." parts that are both at the beginning of the album and right before "Mass Hysteria". To have the whole crowd singing it would be awesome, but I think only the hardcore knew it. To tell you the truth, I kind of faked it myself (that's what she said!)I hope you have a good time, and I hope that helps you a little in your lyrical studying!
Jack96 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I was going to say what everyone else said, so I won't say it. Damn you folks who got in earlier.YAY i got here earlier
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 try looking in the album booklet. they are correct. dont trust internet shit
bjrules Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 With The Grouch, it sounds like he says "ticpointofview" really quickly to me.
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 haha thats funny. i see what you mean. i can hear the optimistic though, but its quite fast
Penguin Puffball Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 In The Grouch, right after "I had a young and optimistic point of view", he's saying "Till I got hurt". (I'm 98% sure, anyway).
Marlena Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Nimrod is probably my fuckin favorite album, but i gotta admit some stuff in there is tricky. i dont think it really matters if you know every single thing correctly, i probably dont either (although i think i do )you mean at the very end? it goes:"hitchin' a ride say 1 3 1 3" or something like that. if you watch bullet in a bible that what he says. (tip: a lot of things you cant figure out in a studio track, are cleared up when played live).yea he says "dont know where to go"it depends on his mood. on the track, its dehydrating, but he changes it up.you mean after he says "i had a young and optimistic point of view"? uhm, well i really dont know either, it's some little humm maybe. they tend to do that alot.i really really dont think it matters. just go with your gut. i usually say "well", because he says that sometimes."Red eye, code blue"it doesn't have to make sense. he knows more than both of us combined. "nail me to the cross and tell me you have won.""this girl has gone far away""you're not my type"the first two: it REALLY doesnt matter. i always say "stick a knife" and "a gun for a gun""lights out i can't take it anymore"nope, it's definately "and you got no reply".Well thats as close as you're going to get it. Not even the "biggest fan in the world" has every lyric 100%, and when you realize that, you'll be able to relax and enjoy the music. It's always open for interpretation, and if you like saying it one way better, go for it. oh yea, and if you think Nimrod is giving you issues, just wait untill you get to Shenanigans. Nobody knows that album anywhere close to complete.hope this helped and good luck memorizing all the albums, it took me about 2 years. So you're from the Breakdown generation?Nah, not from the Breakdown.I'm from American Idiot. After I got AI I quickly bought all albums. That was the best decision in my life Hey, I'm all about knowing the words to sing along at the concert too--it's just fun to do!here are a few tips to make yourself seem like you know what you're doing (it helped me after I went to the Philly show to know when I went to the DC show).During "Static Age" right before he goes into the chorus instead of singing "Screaming at you..." he counts "1-2-3-4!" It's nice to get tips from someone who's already been to a Green Day concert.I'll definetely sing along to every song, because that's so much fun.
chewchub Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 if you think Nimrod is giving you issues, just wait untill you get to Shenanigans. Nobody knows that album anywhere close to complete.this is so true
