So what we doing this time round door or pub? hmmmmmm :ermm:

We are going to the pub (at least in Sheffield) and that is that. Besides, I'm not in the Idiot Club (I'm not daft :whistling: ) and I wish to demonstrate my vodka & coke amazing disappearing trick.

yeah, that's what i wanted to know. i know my friend got into a sound check but she somehow won a contest or something. i was wondering if they actually gave out passes, though, and/or if there was anything in the UK where people got passes

In case anyone wanted to know, here is what the sound check passes look(ed) like. (You can see them in pictures, but this is a higher quality scan of one of mine)

I didn't know you went to the soundcheck, that's awesome. What songs did they play in Lisbon at the soundcheck?

They played American Eulogy, King For a Day, 21st CBD, Murder City and Billie just grabed the acoustic guitar, I got really excited.. HE STARTS PEACEMAKER.. You know.. That first little bit... and then he stops, and starts messing around with other guitars :( haha.. I got so excited when I heard that bit..

Then we (the group or like.. 15/20 people) started chanting: FOXBORO HOT TUBS, FOXBORO HOT TUBS... and they all turned and looked at us.. With a "WTF?" face.. It was hilarious.. They simply ignored us, and left the stage... But first Billie trew kisses at us, Like he does on BIAB

It was pretty cool =)

But we had to stay in the balcony.. (there wasn't a connection through the baconies and the floor! Sadly.. I'm sure if there was a connection, Billie would have asked us to get closer)

Oh, that sucks that you had to stay up on the balcony. We were right in front of them, at the barrier.

Gah, I can't believe you got Murder City. Would love to hear that song again. Sounds like it was a blast though. We got the exact same songs except for Murder City and well, the beginning of Peacemaker.

He threw kisses at us too :D

:D :D

Yeah, I was really happy to see them playing American Eulogy and Murder City :woot: Especially American Eulogy (they didn't play it at the "real" concert, so It makes it even more special xD)

But wow.. Must have been amazing to see them right in front of you.. with almost no one in the venue! *.*

Yes, the US sound checks had actual passes...nice heavy duty laminated cards on a lanyard thing that went around your neck. Note the Verizon stuff all over it, though - the passes were provided by the tour sponsor. It's too bad there was no actual pass for you guys. It makes a nice keepsake from the shows.

Remember, it's VERY hard for them to hear you.

I got into the soundchecks in Paris! WOOHOO!!!!!!! That was fucking great!

When we entered into Bercy, Green Day was playing American Eulogy. So we only heard about half of the song. Plus... the security of Bercy told us to stop in the middle of the pit, so we were some meters away from the stage... :/

Fortunately, when Green Day finished American Eulogy... Billie Joe acted like he always does, and he became Billie Joe The Super Hero Of My October 4, 2009 Show! He told us: "Come closer! Come on! Come on! Come on!" So thanks to him we could enjoy the soundchecks being right in front of them!

They played American Eulogy, King For A Day, then I got really excited when BJ sang the 1st line of Drama Queen! (but that was it, he only sang the 1st line of the song!). Then 21st Century Breakdown and... upon request... Poprocks & Coke

BJ even asked us to applaud, to sing and to make the now famous "hey, hey, hey, hey" on King For A Day!

That was absolutely amazing!!!

The only bad point: we had to return to the queue after the soundchecks... and it really pissed me of, because the people working with Green Day were agreed we stay inside the venue, but the security of Bery weren't... :/

Man...I wonder what song I should shout up if they will take a request (I know it's not likely but it's happened before)...I'd ask for Uptight or Westbound Sign but I'm not sure if he'd know the words and if they'd remember how to play it.

I'm just so fucking grateful I won!!! :woot: Cannot wait. It's just like...as cheesy as it sounds an experience of a lifetime.:P

What are the odds of getting something autographed during the soundcheck? Slim to none? Anyone tried getting stuff autographed during the soundcheck?

Has anyone got into the soundchecks in the UK/Europe. Is the best idea to go looking for the GD bus to see if they're handing out passes?

Also, does anyone have any other advice for meeting the band?

Um, it really depends. Most likely not. I had both Billie and Tre come over to me, and I could've asked them. but Tre was being mean to me and I was about to faint after Billie played Misery for me, so I completely forgot to ask for an autograph.

Make sure you have amazing karma before your next GD show.

Me too! I was so "OMFG" when BJ started to sing it

On the international dates, it's thanks to the Idiot Club (you win a pass for you + 1 guest) or some radio/internet contests. I don't see any other ways to get in...

I got into Souncheck in Glasgow thanks to my friend who won the IC competition, it was fantastic, We got Maria and even though Billie forgot the words it was one of the best experiences of my life, to be in a room with 40 other people right down at the front, the band were so relaxed, eye contact and smiles with the whole band is a special experience, singing along to King for a Day with Tre whilst pulling faces at one another will always stick in my mind.

thanks Mary you're a truly brilliant friend oh and thanks to the IC for giving us this great opportunity
