Pharmakon Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Green Day was my first concert to be in a mosh pit.I really had no idea how crazy it was gonna be.In the middle of the show, I got so freaking dehydrated, that I almost moved out of the mosh pit.I ended up sucking it up and staying in the front, because I knew I would regret it later if I went in the back.I'll be honest, being in the mosh pit was kind of frightening for me.I got really scared the people trying to grab me and kiss me and stuff.I'm still going to go in a mosh pit for Green Day shows only..but I think I'll stick with seats for the rest of my concert life.WHAAAT? I've never dealt with that in a pit!
Prisca Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I would pick none of those spots!I was slightly to my right of Mike, in front of Jason Freese, it was THE GREATEST!I got attention from Mike, Tre, both Jason's and a little Billie. Was pulling faces with Mike all night. and then got him to get me pulled up on stage. Mind you, I am a lover of Mike and all things Mike and wasn't too sad about not being able to see Billie. Had to turn around completely to see him for the acoustic encore but when I did turn around i could see him really well. or i didn't turn around and just gazed at Mike off to the side of the stage I totally get what you mean by that. I was on his side the first time I saw them live. Mike's face expressions are badass! Besides I think one has better chances of Mike remembering you. well personally I like to be on the actual barrier, because although you get pretty squashed and bruised, you don't get pushed around and can't really lose control when jumping and all that.also anywhere around the catwalk people get pretty pushy and crazy because its where most people want to be. again, over to the side in front of Mike is nice I was actually at the end of the catwalk for their free Nokia show and I gotta share that it wasn't all that pact at the end of the catwalk. I had plenty of space by throughout the show to breath & jump. However, that crowd wasn't all that into their old songs which is probably why the crowd was so tame that night. This tour I've actually been against the side of the barrier facing Bj and it's still an awesome spot. Green Day doesn't focus their attention directly to one spot so I think whatever place you got at a GD show it still a good one 'cause they interact with everyone.
Nova-Caine Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Dunno I always went for either corner of the stage, great view and no crushing
Foxboron Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 in oslo, i was standing 2 meters away from mike (left for billie). best place ever!
xLilyx Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I suppose it depends on where you are. If you're at the barrier then yes, you most likely will get pushed around a good bit. But it's grand Lol ahh I want to go so bad. I'm like 5'3 too but i think i'll stick it out for them what time did you get there?I want to be in front of Mikeil them all but I would love to get a good view of mike...as creepy as that sounds

It depends whose your fave. Billie's mine so that's why I aimed for the middle of the catwalk cos I knew how much he used it And to whoever's asking what time we got there, we got there at half 11 but some kids next to me got there at 4pm and still managed to get to the barrier.
Tubbie Head Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I was in front of the catwalk.. And I had to leave in the thrird song, I couldn't handle it, and ended really far away from them.. I couldn't see almost anything =( BUt, Billie was right there in front of me for a few minutes..like one meter, and just for that, it was worth it.. Maybe if I went to the side where the catwalk meets the stage it would be better, I don't know... I'm just too weak for their shows, and that really makes me sad ='(
novacaine_kid Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I was at the side of the catwalk for Milton Keynes and that was a fantastic spot for that show. For the shows on this tour I was down by the front to the left side, not really near the catwalk as such but still close enough to the stage, and at the end of the catwalk about 3 rows from the front. To be honest I was happy to be anywhere near the front at the time, nothing could have spoilt my enjoyment of those shows. I was surprised at how easy it was to get to the front at the O2 though, considering I joined the queue when they already started to let people in.

It was a lot for me. I don't know where I'm going to go the next show. Close, that's all I know, but maybe not right in front of the catwalk like I was, although, gosh, what a lovely spot that is.
Leisha-LUNA Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Lol ahh I want to go so bad. I'm like 5'3 too but i think i'll stick it out for them what time did you get there?I want to be in front of Mikeil them all but I would love to get a good view of mike...as creepy as that soundsI didn't get there till after they had started letting people in, and got to the barrier. however that was because some friends that had lined up for 32 hours told the security guard to let me through to the front and he made everyone move for me but I had other friends that made it to the second row and they got there after me/didn't have people move for them. and I don't find that creepy. I am a thousand times worse when it comes to Mike haha. while everyone was watching Billie, I was looking in the opposite direction staring at Mr Dirnt.
Tiffx Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I loved standing on front of Mike! Billie came over a fair bit too, and stood right in front of me.I got a good view of all them at some point throughout the show and I found it pretty easy to cling onto the barrier without too much pushing around and stuff. During some songs, like American Idiot, St Jimmy, Static Age and Holiday there was a huge push to the front so I was really squished during those moments. But that's to be expected. It was definitely a good spot, but for the Sydney show I'm going to aim for the catwalk where I can see more Billie.
Laura! Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I want to get barrier my next show. I'm a bigger girl so I think i could handle it well. I think no matter where you are against the barrier you'll get Billie near you because he practically covers the whole stage during shows. If not barrier really close seats, either one would be good.
Holly Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Well, for the gig I had the pick of wherever I wanted, and so I chose the end of the catwalk thinking that'd be best. But I was one person away from the barrier so I couldn't hold on to it. It was great for the first song or two because I was so close and it was amazing, but before long lots of massive boys and men were just elbowing in front of me and pulling me backwards, so even though I had queued for nine hours I ended up quite a far way back by the end SOO if there is a catwalk next time, I'm going to go nearer to the actual stage and not perched on the end of the catwalk, because then atleast if I get pulled backwards I'll still be closer than being pulled back from the extremety of the end of the catwalk.
billie-joe-geek72 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I was at the corner of the catwalk at my show. And I liked it there, the band came there a lot. But any spot on barrier is good!

I got there early enough to where hardly anyone was there, and I could've gone wherever, and I chose the end of the catwalk too. I also wasn't against the barrier; I was about 2 people away though. And yeah, I had some girls that were really pushy, but the guys were worse. When we were just standing, waiting for The Bravery, some girl was trying to push me to the side a little so she had more room. And if she would've moved just a few inches ahead, she would've had all the room in the world; it just annoyed me. No way was I moving. I waited for about 8 hours, but I had a really great spot. Got a lot of attention from Billie, like a bunch of smiles, getting blinded by the spot light, squirted with the water gun, and him taking my roses. So, it was a great night. Next time, I want the barrier. I might avoid the front of the catwalk..I'm not sure. What I bolded sounds good to me, so I'll most likely do that too.
Tiffx Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 ^ is that you in your avatar? Were you standing in the right hand corner when you got picked to go on stage?Sounds like a good spot.
Isabel Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Yep It's easy to get picked if they're standing centre stage looking around [which Mike was] but if I didn't have a sign I wouldn't have had the same chance, I don't think.

I was in exactly the same position is you and after 6 or so songs I started struggling to breathe and said to my friend "I want to get out. I really don't like it" but then I just thought fuck it, I've waited 9 years for this, queued for 6 and a half hours, I'm staying. My friend had to leave near the end though and she managed to survive Milton Keynes (at the front) and said she felt more crushed at Birmingham than she ever felt there so don't feel bad about getting pulled out. A lot of people do.
**She** Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 . And yeah, I had some girls that were really pushy, but the guys were worse. And if she would've moved just a few inches ahead, she would've had all the room in the world; it just annoyed me.I also hate it when people push too much on purpose. I tried to talk to the people next to me because if you had a little nice chat with them they don't get mean and push you away. Thats my experience. In Hamburg I was in first row at the left side of the catwalk. At first, I was in third row, that was kind of bad and I got really squeezed. After some people couln't stay in the front anymore and left I managed to get into first row. That was so cool. I like being at the catwalk instead of being close to the stage, especially during the encore.
Juliette Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I can't decided where to go for the stadium shows :/ I'm fine with getting crushed but my mum's going too and she said she's not going into the actual crowd. I don't think I could stand being at a GD show and not being on the barrier
madswester Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 you should go where the catwalk and stage meet... i stood there for the show in copenhagen and it was the best
Fauxfink Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 diversify my dear. go somewhere different.
