I'll probably go to to the corner, where the cat walk meets the stage. Because let's face it - end of the catwalk you'll probably see a fair amount of billie, and maybe touch his hand or whatever OR corner where you can see everybody, including billie if he's not on the catwalk

whereas at the end, if billie's not there, i doubt you'll see much.

But if you've already been to a show, you can change for the second one right? It's just a bit more awkward for the guys only going to one show, bit of a decision lolz

Well.. I'll try to stand right in the midle of the stage.. at the end of the catwalk and hopefully right in the barrier.. For me seems like it's the best spot.. And I think you would not only be able to see Billie but also the rest of the band from there.. Because well... you're right in the middle!

Plus.. I can't handle the idea of not being able to see Billie Joe playing Good Riddance and probably other acoustic songs! :pinch:

But I don't know.. I never went to a concert with a catwalk, so I can't actually tell if that is a really good spot :/

Quite an useful thread for those going for the first time, though it seems there's no perfect spot you can get. From what I read I guess I'd like to stand in the corner.

No catwalk would mean a lot less people could get up to the barricade. So it would be a lot more important to be at the very front of the line.

That's true. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I'm gonna go for the corner this time, though. I didn't like being really far away, although I was in heaven when Billie played right infront of me.

Interesting dilemma, indeed! It seems that it changes a lot for each show.

I know it would be better in many ways with no catwalk but of course the whole reason they have one is so that more people can "get" front barrier spots and thus more personal interaction with BJ and Mike or whoever. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason regarding where he goes to pick people for Longview. At the Pittsburgh show, he pretty much wandered up and down the stage (although not the catwalk), taking plenty of time to watch the screaming people before choosing. The girl pulled up to sway with him during Are We the Waiting was right at the end of the catwalk. The JOS guitar player was on the far edge of the stage.

Whoever asked if there is much fan interaction with the band in the front seats - yes! In PIT, Billie Joe climbed into the seats for the first few rows during KYE and played the solo there. He doesn't really look there much for singing/playing volunteers, though.

^FYI D, he has been going into the seats at all the shows. Not sure about the beginning two, I honestly just dont remember, but I know he did in chicago and a few shows before and most all of the shows after. Which is pretty dang cool me thinks!

Definitly the third. I tried to get that spot, but I ended up in the middle of the catwalk. It was a good spot, though.

I was just looking at some awesome photos of him in the stands on the Albany show thread. :) It's nice that he gives a little BJ love to those who can't brave the pit!

End of the catwalk for sure!

You get to see everything on stage without having to turn your body! It was amazing when I went, Billie spent more than half the night right in front of us on the tiny stage at the end of the catwalk, than he did running around the stage.

I just watched a video from a show in NY in 2005 and they had a catwalk on that tour. I don't recall there being one at the Irish show the last time, but I'm not sure if that was just because the venue might not have had the proper equipment to provide a catwalk. Hhhmmmm, we shall wait and see!

well i guess it varies from show to show... he was barely there for us. :/

I got my picture in my signature of Billie and Jason from my spot on the barrier at the end of the catwalk without reaching out or anything so...no complaints here. (:

yup. the same thing happened at our show. he did the saxophone/kazoo solo from there. he also did the second half of KYE, and the first half of She. Mike came by for 5 seconds during KYE and gave high fives. and he also started the Longview bassline there. The Pink Bunny was probably there for about 30 seconds. Then I'm guessing Billie was there for the encore acoustics, but I left before that. So yeah, it's amazing when he's there... but for more than 3/4 of the show, he's not.

My spot was the corner of the barricade, right in between Mike and Billie Joe. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Well, in DC I got on the barrier just to Mike Dirnt's left. It was amazing. I could see Tre a lot better, I was right infront of Mike (and I got two of his picks!) and I could see Billie most of the time, too! Billie DOES run around the stage, but when he was stationary, I could see him perfectly.

The only negative was that for the acoustic encore, he was out on the cat walk. but I didn't mind. I had awesome interactions with Mike and especially Tre.

I'm definitely choosing this spot again next time if I can.

I wouldn't know since I've never been in the pit

at the nashville concert i got at the end of the catwalk, directly in the center and im definitely glad thats where i went for. at the show i went to in 05 i was by the stage right in front of mike, and it was great, but billie interacts with the crowd a lot more when hes out on the catwalk aaand it was just better. haha.

Depends what you wanna see- a lot of Billie, Mike & Tre, everything.

I was right in front of Mike on the barricade four nights in a row and I loved it because he remembered me each time. Sure it would have been fun to see Billie all night but I doubt I would have been remembered or gotten much personal attention like I did from Mike.

Posted

True. I like Mike and Tre because they seem to do more personal interactions. Billie looks great from far away 'cause he's interacting with the whole crowd. But even when I was right in front of him, he really didn't interact with the front too much.

Billie is kind of my favorite member, but I think being in front of Mike is better. You still have a good shot at Billie for most of the show... he barely goes out on the cat walk, anyway.

This post might be pointless, because I haven't been to a concert yet... but most people who were standing in front of Mike say that it was really cool, because he was interacting with them so much, so I think that's a good option. I don't like the whole catwalk thing anyway :/

side, because you can see front, side and back.

Is there a catwalk? I hope/thought there isn't one at the show I'm going to!

I'm planning to go in front of the stage, somewhere in the middle.

Out of your options.. I'd say none, or as close to the stage as you can.

there will most likely been one..There was a catwalk last time they played Rotterdam too, and they've been using catwalks at all shows this tour too :)

Last time I started out pretty close to where the catwalk ends, but during the show I moved around a lot and ended up somewhere on the left side. I wasn't too close to the stage but I still got an amazing view of everything and I wasn't squashed against a barrier all the time. So I wouldn't worry about spots too much.

then again... you'll still always be behind people whether you're looking at the stage or the end of the cat walk. so it'd suck if they're really tall and you can't see.

Gahhh I can't decide!! I was on the front corner of the catwalk barricade for the first show, the exact front center on the catwalk barricade for the second show, and on the barricade directly in front of Mike for the last one I went to.

They were all amazing. I got to hold Billie's hand when I was on the corner of the end of the catwalk, and I gave Mike a high five and held his hand when I was in the center the second time. But I did like how much Mike acknowledges the people in the crowd in front of him, and the band really does spend a lot more time on the actual stage.

I still can't choose, but I'm interested to see what other people said so I'm going to have to pick something.

i'd say side even though you would get squashed probably, but i prefer being seated instead of standing, i begin to feel all weird after a while when im standing in the middle of a large hot and sweaty crowd!
