J'net Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I can answer this question. And the answer is ... it depends. If you're wanting to base your decision on where Billie will be, you should know that he doesn't do the same things every night - especially when it pertains to where on the stage he is at any given moment. In Vancouver, I thought Mikey and I had the absolute BEST spots in the house, but I had the exact same spot in Philly, and it didn't seem any better than any other spot (our spot was on the side of the catwalk near the right corner). There are some shows where it seems he spends almost all his time on the catwalk (though I think he tries to make sure he gives everyone some visibility by being all over the stage) and there are other shows where he doesn't. I am thinking about trying for the end of the catwalk next time. But here's MY bottom line. When I come down the stairs, I try to look down at the situation around the stage (without falling down the stairs). If I thought the end of the catwalk looked too crowded, I would try for one of the corners. If they were too crowded, I would try for the side of the catwalk or a spot on the front of the stage (either side). I really just look for which places still have a good space for me to be at the front (and it also depends on how many people I'm with - at each show, there are usually people I really want to share the concert with - of course, sometimes we get separated, and then we just go our own ways, but if we CAN, it's great to be together). It really doesn't matter where you end up, because that could be the place where Billie spends all his time, and you feel like you are the luckiest person in the arena. So ... it depends.
belinda jane Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I was on the corner of the catwalk for my second Green Day show, and it hurt so much, because the corner of the barrier was digging into my skin. I had to move immediately. But yeah, I agree with J'net, it all depends. I'm going to try and aim for the front of the stage this upcoming tour, because I don't think I could handle the end of the catwalk again. Too many people decide to go there because Billie walks down there.
Lauren Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 That's why I hate that "it depends". because you never know. That's why I wish there was no cat walk at all (i don't even understand why there IS one)of course if there's more room in one spot, i'll go there. I guess it also depends on the member you like to watch more. If I liked to watch Mike and Tre a lot, then I'd definitely go to the right of the cat walk and in the corner. However, I love watching Billie and I wouldn't be able to stand if I couldn't see the front of him. but the problem with the cat walk is that i barely got to see Mike (i didn't think i'd see him at all, but he played the beginning of Longview from there and came and gave hi-fives during Know Your Enemy) and Tre was really freaking far away, and Billie was far too most of the time. ugh i dont know what to do
belinda jane Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 ^ No catwalk would definitely be heaps better.
Lauren Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Exactly. I like it when there's just a little 5 foot thing sticking out. I'd get in front of that, definitely. No cat walk means when Billie is stationary, he will most likely be singing from there.
SaintSaturn Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I guess one advantage of being in the lower level side stage is that I will have a great view of Tre. I play drums so it's always nice to see him rocking out.

Stupid catwalk.

Stupid catwalk.Yup! and you won't have to worry about:a) seeing the back of who ever's on the cat walkb) being super far away when no one is on the cat walk

It's just because of where you were that all the people on that side blocked your view. So you were near the right corner of the end of the catwalk. If you were near the left corner of the end, you'd have a clear view right down the catwalk most of the time to watch Mike.Exactly. I like it when there's just a little 5 foot thing sticking out. I'd get in front of that, definitely. No cat walk means when Billie is stationary, he will most likely be singing from there. No catwalk would mean a lot less people could get up to the barricade. So it would be a lot more important to be at the very front of the line.

Juju Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 where catwalk meets the stage.but idk. i like corners.
jenni Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I voted end of the catwalk, but actually I hesitate between the end of the catwalk and the corner...the corner: you can see Mike, Tre, and BJend of the catwalk: according to the videos I've seen, it seems that BJ is more "active" here: touching people's hands, taking people up on stage from here...
Harriet Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I only have 92 sleeps to work this out...*confuzzled* I'm thinking the right corner, where the stage meets the catwalk, so I get lots of Mike and TreBut if Tre plays Dominated Love Slave, will he be on the catwalk or the stage?? I really don't wanna miss that *ahh!*
GreenDayGummyBear Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 i think, go for left side, end of catwalks corner. that way, u see billie pretty much entire time, mike (distant but still will) and tre (distance but still in sight), but idk, i havnt been to a concert before. but that's what my logic is telling me to do. but my logic could be wrong.
shaye Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I'm gonna aim to get the corner where the catwalk and the stage meet, on the right side. Just seems like a good place.
Harriet Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I'm still undecided, but right stage corner is most likely, I need lots of Tre action
MassHysteria Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 So glad Fonda didn't have a catwalk. Anyways, I guess I would only care based on which spot Billie is most likely to pick from for singing Longview
Isabel Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I now wish the Point wasn't done up so the venue would be incapable of providing a catwalk God, it's so hard to decide where to stand. The right hand corner sounds pretty good, but then again, maybe the middle of the catwalk would seem better? Ahhh, such a pickle I'm actually kind of glad that only a handful of the irish people will know that there even is a catwalk, because when everyone goes running in, so many people will be like "wtf is this??" and they'll panic so much that they'll be slower to get a spot. Heeeeee
Sister of Grace Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 just stand where you can see the best..and you probably won't know what spot is the best one until you're inside the venue.
Tiffx Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I'm gonna aim to get the corner where the catwalk and the stage meet, on the right side. Just seems like a good place.I think I agree with this. I'm still confused though.
belinda jane Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Yeah, but you don't have a lot of time to check it out if you're running for the best position. Unless you get a map view thing of the venue.
Tiffx Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 ^ Haha, yeah, but you don't have a lot of time to check it out if you're running for the best position. Unless you get a map view thing of the venue. It's okay I've seen the map of the venue. It's basically the same for all big shows.
belinda jane Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 It looks the same how they had it for their last AI tour. So at least I have a rough picture in my mind.
