IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Who gives a flying fuck really? You still got your copy didn't you?I admit I've probably thought about this too much (see the most rambling post in the world further up) but it still frustrates me.
Nova-Caine Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 God don't get me started seriously I have been ranting about this all over the place from day 1.Firstly I think the choice of singles has been bad along with two mediocre videos. Warner has failed to market a band of GD's stature in the UK. I think that whoever is in charge of their marketing and promotion in the UK needs taking outside and given a good fuckin kicking, seriously.I do care what happens to this band, I do care where their singles get to in the chart because I want the best for this band, I want every one to know what a great album 21st CB is but fear that the 1st two singles has harmed the eventual potential sales as well.Seriously something has to be done, there has been no advertising for either single here in the UK, you only get to hear them either on Kerrang radio or kerrang tv, MTV2 or Scuzz, there is nowhere they are played to the mainstream audience.Argh rant rant rant rant! :/
amy_runs Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 It doesn't bother me much, but yeah there is hardly any advertising. Where I live
Lady Liberty Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Yeahh this is true, I live in England and have seen the TV advert for it only a couple of times since may. However, it was on in the backgroud of Corrie yesterday.

chickin'pickin' Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I admit I've probably thought about this too much (see the most rambling post in the world further up) but it still frustrates me.It shouldn't.Alot of bands market themselves anyways, it's only the up and coming bands that need the airtime and TV commercials. Even then not everybody is going to like the band in question. 21st Century Breakdown still sold pretty well in tough economic times, so I fail to see the problem. Plus Radio 1 plays "Know your enemy" and/or "21 Guns" atleast every two days.I'm thinking people are mistaking Green Day for being more important than they actually are.
Welshy Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Think the best thing we've had is the Live at Abbey Road sessions. But with AI they did all the talk shows like Friday Night with Johnathan Ross, Later with Jools Holland and I think there was another one? But maybe they'll do more promo stuff between the America tour and European tour. Might of got more promo stuff here if the album was finished quicker because Murder City went on so late in the process so it migh've taken up some promo time and stuff.

The fact I never listen to the radio is probably due to me not hearing them anywhere Oh and shush!!! *slaps*x

But I agree with the promo stuff in between the two tours, it's possible.
chickin'pickin' Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The fact I never listen to the radio is probably due to me not hearing them anywhere Oh and shush!!! *slaps*xWell they're being put out there don't worry. I have to listen to Radio 1 everyday at work, I got so sick of Know your enemy...a song I never liked in the first place.Didn't they also do a special Live Lounge with Zane Lowe too? This is all plugging the album..

This is all plugging the album..I would love if we had a list of what they've actually done here, what's Live Lounge? I dunno maybe we just had too much from AI and expected it this time around, although I did get a bit fed up during AI. I know im such a contradiction..For some reason I take it personally when they don't get the credit I think they deserve...Yes Jay they are that important hehe
chickin'pickin' Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Live Lounge is basically a mini studio whereby bands play some of their well known songs to the listening audience. In Green Days instance, they played a few new songs along with She. There's a vid of it floating about somewhere...Green Day are that important to you...not everybody.

Yeah I have seen that thanks I thought thats what you meant. What do you mean they're not important to everybody
chickin'pickin' Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I'm glad you realise this. Maybe that's why there wasn't that much TV time?
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I think they did a session with a Zane on the same week as Eminem. The Live Lounge is the one with Jo Whiley where they do a cover.
Nova-Caine Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I'm glad you realise this. Maybe that's why there wasn't that much TV time?Well last time round they had TOTP and CDUK yeah both crap shows but a way of getting out there. We have nothing any more really do we on terrestrial tv in the UK. Apart from Jools Holland which is on for a few weeks per year.It will be interesting to see what happens when they hit the UK in October.x

The Live Lounge is the one with Jo Whiley where they do a cover.um. yeah. That's the one.Well last time round they had TOTP and CDUK...xBoth had viewers with the mental capacity of a stapler, so I wouldn't say it was good for the band at all.
Nova-Caine Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Boooooooooooo I loved CDUK, or was it Cat Deeley hmmmm
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 They were never actually on CD:UK where they ? I can only remember them showing footage of a performance rather than them being in the studio. A guest spot on 'Chums' would have been amazing
Nova-Caine Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 ^^^I honestly don't remember tbh its that long ago now, I was just showing how there are no music programmes on terrestrial tv any more. There is the Album Chart show isn't there on Channel 4 but that's on late as far as I remember.*off topic*You off to Hillsborough tomorrow? I'm considering going x
chickin'pickin' Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I was a mere lad when CDUK was on. Live and kicking ftw though.

farley drexel hatcher Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The marketing was terrible but it's getting to the point I don't even care anymore. The charts honestly haven't bothered me in years and the general reception for the album has been great with better than decent sales for the times we're in, plus a sold out tour. I don't think they have any reason to worry ultimately. But it would suck for a lesser known band just starting out.
CarnageXB Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 There's hardly any, as far as I can tell.Around where I live there are alot
Hermione Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I agree, as I might've mentioned before . They should get shot of whoever's in charge of promoting them and/or choosing their singles. They're being sold short.
