As a single, how successful has "21 Guns" Been?

I haven't heard it on the radio once here, and I've only seen the film clip once on T.V. Shame really :/

I have not heard it on the radio i have not seen it on the tv even with KYE i only heard it once on the radio and that was when it was getting its first ever air play. My boyfriend always texts me when he hears something about Green Day when im not with him twice i got a text to say 21 guns was being played on the radio. I have not seen any advertising towards this album at all there is one big poster on the wall of zhivago's but u have to look up to see it, there is nothing in HMV they have the t-shirts but unless u were looking specifically for them you would not find them as they are mixed in with other shirts. I have seen no advertising no art displays no nothing to promote this album there wasn't even any advertising or promtion when tickets went on sale for their concert. The only reason I knew the relase dates for 21st CB, KYE, 21 guns and the tickets sales was because of GDA in saying that 21 guns being no.22 in the top 50 singles and 21st CB no.36 in the top 100 albums is not bad at all.

All the charts indicate is a rough idea of how full the bandwagon is gonna get. Sure, American Idiot got a massive amount of sales and lots of airplay, but I'd estimate that about 80% of those "new fans" who caught on with American Idiot no longer follow Green Day. Green Day has a substantial permanent fan base and as long as we're all buying the product the band is doing fine. I'd rather have room to move on this wagon. Fuck the charts.

But I think the album's gone up in the charts. Well, according to the Sainsbury's instore album chart (which I base most of my facts on, it seems ) it's now at #18, as opposed to being in danger of leaving the top 40. I would think that's due to 21 Guns, but maybe not. I myself haven't had a chance to buy the CD single, because I haven't seen it anywhere.

Edit: Online UK album charts put the album at number 27, which means it's up seven places from number 34.

21 Guns was #4 on the Hot30 Countdown on the radio last night.

And it's been #11 on iTunes for the past week.

That's not too bad I guess. Better than KYE anyway.

I think the fact that the song is doing so badly is a sign of how good this album really is compared to AI. Sure its got good songs but it doesnt have that one song that will get people talking. the only song that comes close to that is EJN and i personally think that it will not get anyones attention. KYE only did better cause it was out beforethe album and we all wanted a new Green Day song, anyone who will want the singles most probably already have the album and Green Day never change their songs for singles so it gives us no reason to want it. We just have to admit that 21CB was a big risk for the band to take and it proably wont pay off so the best thing to do is wait til the touring is out of the way and then work on a new album that isnt a concept album or even take a break and focus on FHT or The Network

the same (& only) station that i've heard it on also played the entire jesus of suburbia like an hour later, and BOBD was on earlier in the morning.

although, i only listened to the radio at work. so it could be played more.
