I would say that Green Day aren't that much of a "trend" now.. And that makes me very happy =)

I'm glad that I don't see every teenie of my school singing 21 Guns (I find that surprising, I actually haven't seen ANY singing or hearing 21 Guns on their phones).. Now it's more Black Eyed Peas and stuff like that.. xD

Ever since the AI Musical version of this song came out, the real 21 Guns has GAINED in popularity on iTunes. I has jumped up to #45 in the top 100 and all the way up to #2 in the top Alternative music. This single has been out for 6 months and it is still kicking ass! I think this is the most successful Green Day single

It's risen up to 32 on US itunes!  It wasn't even in the top 100 a few days ago. Alot of the older songs are rising up due to year-end lists+itune gift cards for Christmas.

And I know alot of you don't care about chart positions and sales, and I don't either. I just find it interesting and I like to post them.

With shit like Miley Cyrus around, good bands will never get very far on number charts.

Can you explain this? What are you talking about? The Hot Digital Songs?

I forgot to say on the US iTunes top 200 songs

But the good thing is is that it seems like only rock bands are the ones that last for a while these days. Unlike the pop and rap artists/groups who are popular for a couple of years and then disappear of the face of the earth. Rock bands just keep making great music and keep a consistent fan base

Great! I'm excited because I wanna see the Bb 200 tomorrow...I bet the album has gained positions because of the new version of 21 guns :D

I can't wait for the music video to come out! That will really help sales!

Yep, here in the US it is up from 159 to 136!

And 21 Guns (original version) has re-entered the top digital songs on Billboard's chart. Currently at 24

Ha ha ha..I can predict the future... :D ...Sales are around 13,000 I think

I think the new version cannot chart. In fact the same thing is happening to Relapse (Eminem's album): he made a new version of the record featuring bonus tracks,...and the edited version is called "Relapse: Refill"... this album doesn't chart, but the original version of the record has gained lots of positions...so, in my opinion, they incorporate the two versions of 21 guns.

Good choice of words. It caught on slowly but seems to be doing really well right now on a lot of fronts. Also seems to have a lot of life left in it still.

The impressive chart performance this far after the single came out just shows how amazing this song is!

A little OT, but here are some other digital sales I found

GREEN DAY - Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance) : 1,507,000 (34-2009)

GREEN DAY - American Idiot : 1,004,195 (17-2008)

GREEN DAY - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams : 1,955,000 (45-2009)

GREEN DAY - Holiday : 1,029,,785 (17-2008)

And apparently When I Come Around and WMUWSE have both sold over a million.

Every Green Day song deserves to be on top of the charts in my view.

I personally don't like 21 guns, it bores me and it's too safe and mainstream and it probably did well in the charts because of that aspect, it couldn't offend anyone in any way. I however gained mucho respect for Green Day back when they released East Jesus Nowhere as a single, I think they could've had an amazing video though and just took the piss but then again the record company wouldn't keep them on with my idea of whores dancing around the pope. Shame really.

I think I got all those on page 37. Maybe some on 36. I know it's not an official source, but I don't see why they'd lie. And I'm pretty sure they get the numbers from Billboard.

21Guns getting Grammy for sure! Best Sound Track.

btw, that's on 31st Jan if I have been informed right, isn't it?

^Gah, I hope so. I'm not going to get my hopes up though, with the Grammy people nominating people like Drake and Taylor Swift. And yes, the 31st. I think.
