Seedless_Reject
There was a girl I knew who always wanted to be the one to stand out from the crowdAlways believed that she was gonna live her dreamsThat what went down was gonna come aroundFor all the doubters, non-believers, the cynicals that once were dreamersOne of these days you'll open up your eyesAnd you'll realize[Chorus:]That girl was a one time teenage drama queenA hot, tough everyday wannabeeBut she'll have changed her destinyNow she's a somebodyThat girl was a wild child dreamer but she'll find herself'Cause she believes in nothin' elseAnd you'll look back and you won't believeThat girl was meArmed with an attitude that she knows how to useShe's gonna get there any way she canNow she knows what she wantsNo one is gonna stop herNothing's ever gonna hold her backFor all the doubters, non-believers the cynicle that once were dreamersOne of these days you'll know that you were wrong (who would've know)[Chorus][spoken]Life is a work of art- you gotta paint it colorfulCan make it anything you wantDon't have to stick to any rulesYou don't need a high IQ to succeed in what you doYou just gotta have no doubt just believe in yourselfDoubters, non-believers, once were her dreamersOne of these days you'll open up your eyesAnd you'll realize[Chorus 2X]is this the same song? Supermodel*Robot
Is "She's old enough to bleed now" referring to her menstrual cycle?I thought of it more as she's old enough to get hurt & feel immense pain now.The menstrual cycle theory creeps me out. Haha. Weird to think of Billie singing about that

Rbka
I'd be interested to know who this song is about, as Billie has no daughters...And the menstruation thing (if that is what its referring to) doesn't creep me out. I imagine for a father that would be a scary time. It would be like "OMG. She's really growing up now... theres no turning back"Its a really pretty song. Boston
This is such a beautiful song.I'd be interested to know who this song is about, as Billie has no daughters...It was probably a song that he wrote while recording 21CB. It sounds a lot like Christian talking about Gloria. And her being old enough to bleed just means that she's old enough to fight her own fights, and it scares the narrator because they know she probably will. It has nothing to do with menstruation, I bet.
Juliette
I'd be interested to know who this song is about, as Billie has no daughters...Mike does though... But I think it's also to do with her being vulnerable to real pain now that she's older rather than the menstruation thing.

Trina
I thought of it more as she's old enough to get hurt & feel immense pain now.Yeah, I thought this but he definatly does seem to ...think (?) about periods often...Have you heard Red Tide? Also, "Have you ever ate a clump of a woman's period?"...or something along the lines of that.I mean Billie Joe, really tmi...So today I realised Billie Joe has a menstruation fetish. Nice. lookoutrebelgirl
I really think Mike wrote this song. Unless Joey is actually really camp and it’s about him. jokeSome one said that Billie wouldn’t just throw out a Mike song at the last minute to put one of his own but I HIGHLY doubt Billie as all that power. I’m sure they all talked about and really this song doesn’t belong on the album. It doesn’t go with the story at all. And did you notice that the song they added was murder city that Mike didn’t write but that he got to sing. Maybe that was the compromise.
