FHT weren't really garage rock...I mean they had the 60's garage rock style. Real garage rock is like the White Stripes.
Aside from the fact that this is insane, The White Stripes are barely garage rock. Of the big three revival artists, they're the least garagey. The Hives fall into the category much more easily.

The defining garage rock band is obviously The Kinks. From Kinks to Face To Face they were very garagey.

London Calling is a cohesive work of chaos and Sandinista! is an experimental hodge podge. They're two different styles of doubles, man.

But yeah that'd always be nice.

Granted, London Calling and Sandinista! are different beasts entirely, but I guess what I was trying to say is that both albums fuse various genres into a cohesive (but chaotic) whole. Throwing them all together in one sentence was confusing, though, I admit!

I wonder how good Mike's reggae bassline chops are...

Sandinista! cohesive? Now I've heard it all.

Word to the mo'fucka. I had to listen to that album so many times before I became close to appreciating it properly.

And EVERYBODY knows that Green Day should go into the Indian Minimalist Techno Genre.

I want to see them do rap, just for the lulz.

I made this really tight playlist (seventy five minutes) of songs from Sandinista!, non-album singles, and b-sides from that period. It's really tight and I don't really listen to Sandinista! that often anymore.

Sandinista! is like The White Album or Use Your Illusion. If you think it's perfect or cohesive you're on fucking crack. Great collection, though.

I voted other, cause I'd like it to be a surprise. I gotta say, this thread make me so excited, I thougth Green Day were in another side band!

Okay, okay, haha, maybe not COHESIVE, but I think it does have its own flow. Call me crazy, but no matter how schizophrenic that album is, I think the songs all fit well together and "speak to eachother" in a way, even though it's a long slog and it's got its share of obvious high and low points.

Sandinista! is a very good driving album on long trips, as well.

better for driving is METAL MACHINE MUSIC

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS IS THEN AOIJGIOAWHOIGHAEWROIHG

1. TAKE THE ABOVE WORD OF GIBBERISH AND TRY TO PRONOUNCE IT

2. NOW IMAGINE THAT PRONUNCIATION IS IN THE FORM OF SHRIEKY GUITAR FEEDBACK

3. THIS GOES ON FOR SIXTY FOUR GLORIOUS MINUTES

METAL MACHINE MUSICCCCCCCCCCCC

I think that Green Day should do some sort of soul-pop-rock melting together like Graham Parker, Elvis Costello, and Nick Lowe do.

Lou really should make Metal Machine Music II: Still Metallin'

If GD made a Parker/Costello/Lowe style song or side-project, I would shit myself. They could totally do it too, they have it in them, plus they're friends with Elvis. Make it so.

Yeah, I just realized that one. They could totally do that shit.

Have Billie channel all that pub-rock/power pop he listens to, get Freese to play some Steve Nieve riffs, and I'm sold.

I hope they won't do any side project..never been a fan of anything they do besides green day.

I´d like to see them play Folk Punk. That´d be so cool.
