IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 It only made number 40 on the UK charts This is bad....Chris Moyles actually mentioned it this morning, he was reading out the lower positions of the charts and said he was surprised to see Green Day so low. It might not have mattered pre AI, but they're supposed to be one of the biggest bands in the world aren't they ?
Nova-Caine Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 ^^Exactly. All this shit is monitored maybe not by the band but defo by the record company, that said though the marketing and promotion for both singles and album in the UK has been nothing short of fucking terrible.Sorry it's a rant of mine right now
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I noticed that, it's bad, but you can't really expect much else. If I hadn't been online looking at HMV.com I wouldn't have known the single was coming out, so the general public won't have a clue! It's not even about the song or the music, and i'm not being biased with that. There was no promotion, at all. I don't think this will matter to a band like Green Day but I hope it makes the label look a bit closer at how they're promoting this thing.
Juan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I don't think this matters anymore, if anything they'll get inspired once moreI'm frankly glad that they're off the mainstream, I'm sure they don't care, they're out there playing for their fansThat's what a band is about, pleasing their fans, not the charts
Nova-Caine Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 ^^^ I can see where you're coming from Juan but it's a good job the tour sold out other wise it might be a bit more serious and trust me the record company does care even if the band don't.
Juan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Record Companies are *this* close from a fork to be stuck in them
Hermione Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I don't think this will matter to a band like Green Day but I hope it makes the label look a bit closer at how they're promoting this thing.Me too. Luckily I'm sure the band wouldn't really care but I think the record company are doing them a real disservice, they've blown it. I missed all the AI stuff when it happened so I was looking forward to getting to see Green Day in the limelight but it just hasn't happened, they are nowhere to be seen. This is a rant of mine too , they seriously do not deserve to be number 40 but that's what happens when you have zero promotion.
Clayish Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 The EP is STILL not available on Itunes!!! Yea this is really annoying. I want Favorite Son on my iPod.
MascaraTears Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 for all of the people from the US who don't have it on itunes... REALLY GOOD NEWS!! I decided to look on rhapsody and they have it for purchase!!! it's playing on my ipod right now :D idk why itunes is being stupid and won't let us have it... but at least we can buy it now. i LOVE this song!
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Little question; I found a copy of the 21 Guns single in a record shop, with only 21 Guns and Favorite Son on it. Is there a physical copy with also 21 Guns the 880 version or She (live in Tokyo) (the versions that've been mentioned) out there, or only this one, and is the one with the 880 version only for purchase on iTunes or something?
Welshy Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...&hl=21+gunsYou can download it in this thread Thought you did have it?
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks, but I meant to ask is there a physical copy of the single (cd in a box) with other tracks on it but 21 Guns and Favorite son (or is 880/She (live) only a download). I phrased it just a little odd.(and yeah, I already had it :])
HoneyDo666 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 No need to worry guys!21 Guns is everywhere now thanks to the VMA nominations! It's climbing the charts and apparently the video has taken over MTV and VH1!It's doing really well on the Hot 100 and the Rock Charts and on iTunes (#13)21CB is up to #6 on the European Album Chart.I think Green Day will do more promotional stuff when they're touring Europe, like during the AI era. TRL and such maybe?
