watsername182 Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Usually in Australia tickets for the larger venues start from around $85.00 AUD and up.There is also postage and handling which can be anything from $6.95 to like $10.00Plus the transaction fee of like $4.95.
Angela. Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 For 3 GA tickets for the GD show I'm going to, the total cost (including fees) was $178.25. But compared to some other... um, popular... acts in today's society, GD tickets aren't so bad. For example, I compared the cost of 3 Jonas Brothers tickets to 3 GD tickets. 1 JB ticket alone (for the Mellon Arena show on July 25th) is... $89.50. (For the best seating, that is.) So, 3 of those tickets without the extra fees would be... $268.50. 1 GD ticket (with the best seating, for the 7/22 show at Mellon Arena) is... $47.25. So, 3 of those tickets without the extra fees would be... $141.75. That's a BIG difference. In fact, that's a $126.75 difference. In general, Green Day tickets are a lot cheaper than tickets from other bands. Yes, the fees do suck. A lot. But I'd rather only have to play a little more for service fees than pay a lot more for tickets.
iLozza! Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 What a rip off.I don't think we payed a surcharge of that much. And if we did, well I'm just ignorant.
warning11945 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I see Paul McCartney's tickets are like $250!I knwo some who wen to see Brittney Spears (I don't know why though), but her mom payed $600 for ONE and she bought two.
punkrockerlori Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I bought my tickets off stubhub. MASSIVE SURCHARGES THERE! :@
Isabel Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 When I saw Green Day on the American Idiot tour, tickets were only €30 but this time around they're €50. It's in the same venue, but the name has changed and the entire place has been revamped and made into a very modern, 14,000 capacity venue which is probably alot more expensive to run. So either MCD/Warner Bros. are greedy bastards or this recession really is a bitch.
Nova-Caine Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 GD have always tried to keep prices down, what they can't control are the venues being turned into corporate whore houses and booking fee's. We have a thread about this on the IC that I started last year discussing how vile the hiking of tickets had become by certain bands then when booking fee's go on top its near on impossible to afford. I just about begged GD not to hike their prices in that thread as well. I refuse to pay over £50 for any band now. The day GD charge that amount is going to be a very painful one for me and I'm not sure what my decision would be
gloria. Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Mmm, I paid 60 dollars for my Green Day concert this summer.I have seats, but they're in the third row of the very first section.I'm not sure if it's a bargain, an adequate price or a rip off.As long as they're not asking for 200 dollars, I'm just glad I'm finally seeing the band I love.
Iwannajumpout Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I do agree these extra charges are bull. I went the paperless ticket route and got hit with a "convenience" charge equal to 15% of my ticket, plus venue fees, and a processing fee. Kudos to GD for not charging something obscene for their tickets, since these extra fees quickly put you in that category anyways. And do I need to mention the whole Springsteen vs. Ticketmaster incident?
