Writers of most all kinds are kinda...wordophiles. (hey look, I made up a new word!) They collect them, wallow in them, all that. Particularly authors and poets, but surely lyricists, too. It's tough to write good songs when you have a 5th grade vocabulary.

Just because he dropped out doesn't mean he's stupid. Some of the most brilliant people I know are self-taught.

there are a few words that I learned form them, but most of them were mentioned. Ila Reto pretty much covered it, but I knew a few on the list

The new album doesn't have that many "big" words. They just have a political or destructive theme to them, so if you aren't familiar with those, then it might be sort of hard. I can't really think of any 21stCB words I learned...

Gaza is a part of Israel that is commonly refferenced to as the 'Gaza Strip' and it involves the tension between Palinstinians and Israelites whom are fighting over land and its basically a war of religion. The Israelites became a nation if 1948 and they referenced the land as 'rightfully theirs' and they basically kicked the Palistinians out and the Palistinians want their land back. But they won't make a compromise on it. Gaza is usually the worst place to be in Israel where the fights usually happen.

And Nixon involves Watergate (a huge scandal where there was a break in inside a hotel and he stole info.)

I think it all depends on the person. Depending on where you live & the things you're involved in, you might now a bunch of words that someone else doesn't. It doesn't necessarily make you smarter.

I know that, I am looking through them to see which ones I know right now.

Just to see how good/bad my vocabulary is.

Which I do know my vocabulary is better than people I know, and is adequate enough.

But yes, much harder than anyone else by far.

Or if you like knowing the meaning of words and love using big complex words like I do.

And took a medical class to know word parts and meanings and now knows a lot more medical stuff compared to a year earlier and thier meanings.

People say that I should get into semantics courses in college because of that.

Yeah, I know. But I mean you could have the same sized vocabulary as me & know a bunch of words I don't. And vice-versa. I'm not arguing that cool words aren't important. I get rather pissed off at how often people tell me to stop using "big words." Why not read a dictionary rather than stomp on my intelligence?
