I really like that he doesn't dumb down his language and he gives his listeners credit for being intelligent, which I know GD fans obviously are...

I had used many variants but before the boys, I had never used "cock-smoking". Shame....it's a big part of my life now.....wait...that came out wrong.

^^

I think sassafras roots are used for making these unstable liquids... for some reason I remember that from a class I had...

and it sounds like nobody really knows what billie meant when he said "malakite" yet. lol

"malakite" is a type of rock that can be used in jewelry :) :)

I think I may have been brainwashed into saying 'you know' too much because of listening to so many fucking interviews with Billie

This is a great thread, I've already read 5 pages xD But I will continou... Most of these words are new, but pretty much cuz English is my 2nd foreign language... anyway for example somebody mentioned lobotomy, but I've know this word, cuz it's the same in my own language. I don't really remember, I think 90% of my voc is from Billie Joe. I've been laerning English since the first Green Day song I've heard, but learing only 3 years in school. So I teach myself with helping of BJ. :shifty: And Ya know ... xD

I wanna know what Lushotology means! It sounds... interesting :shifty:

There was a discussion about that before. Malakite is a green coloured mineral and Billie Joe's eyes are green. "She holds my malakite so tight so, never let go"

Nimrod

My e-mail is nimrod-91 and all people asks me "What the hell nimrod is??"

Posted

Nimrod is a Mesopotamian monarch mentioned in the Book of Genesis, who also figures in many legends and folktales. He is depicted in the Bible as a mighty ruler and nation builder who founded many cities, including the great Babel or Babylon. Despite his stance as a powerful leader, his reputation was tarnished by his traditional association with the construction of the Tower of Babel. Outside of the Bible, several ruins preserve Nimrod's name, and he is featured in the midrash.

& I don't know if already someone explained it, but I don't know what 'platypus' is u.u someone can explain it to me.. please?

and still don't know exactly what some phrases mean like "horseshoes & handgrenades" , "dry ice" & some others that I can't remember right now xD

i don't know if you guys realize this, but people are asking the same things on every single page of this thread. it doesn't hurt to go back and read at least the first few pages..

a platypus is a creepy looking mammal.

Beej said something about just wanting to name a song Platypus, so it means absolutely nothing.

The saying is "close/almost only counts in horseshoes in handgrenades." You get points in playing both horseshoes and handgrenades for being close. It would be like saying something wrong in school and then saying "I was close.." Then your teacher would say the phrase.

And John Kiffmeyer named the song Dry Ice because he said he imagined it as the type of song that would have a fog machine while played live.

I saw Sassafras on a highway sign in San Diego. Maybe that's where he got the title.

... sassafras is also rumored to be a cure for gonorrhea.

When I first started listening to Green Day, I never knew what Masturbation meant cause I was only 10 at the time. I asked everyone I knew and they said "ewwww!" ~ So I asked my sister and she told me what it was and I'm like "ooooh"

So I think that was the first word I learnt from Green Day was.

I also learned the word Malakite, but I never found out the meaning :o

Green Day have definately added new words to my vocab ;)

green day helped me to improve my english and i learnt many words and expressions (can u imagine that i learnt what bouleavrd means after listening to bobd??) before green day, i was lost in the chaos...... now i use many words from the songs, but in greek.... but thank to billie joe's quote about the role that music has in his life, i passed my exams in english... my teacher asked me what do i like most and i said music.... then she asked me what is music to me.... haha u can imagine the answer: music to me it is... the air that I breathe, the blood that pumps through my veins and that keeps me alive......... i passed speaking with 9/10 xDDDD thanks to green day and especially billie joe :)
