04rebhop Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I learned what Orange Mocha Frappachino was from watching Bullet in a bible. I was only about 12, and i don't like coffee, so i guess that's why i didn't know what it was.
Hermione Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 The only word I've learned because of Green Day is "salud". Took me ages to find out what it meant too, since it's Spanish so it obviously wasn't in the English dictionary I was looking in. I think I finally found out what it meant from someone on here.
Nikki_Nimrod Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Since i was only ten when i started listening to Green Day i've learnt quite a few....propaganda, pulverize, vigilante, insubordinate, barrio, salmonella, masturbation, vendetta, methamphetamine, and some others i can't think of at the moment haha. I've actually had quite a few vocabulary tests with questions i've only known the answers to because of Green Day songs
Elissa. Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I find myself saying y'know in daily conversation
HoneyDo666 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 beretta=semi-automatic gun of some sortNot to be confused with buratta, which is a giant ball of mozzarella--quite delicious actually. That's what I thought Billie was saying for a while
troPunK Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I often use to say "Victim of Authority" when I use to see such situations happening, usually in politics Apart from that:WhatsernameWhatshisfaceBrinkPanhandlingLushotologydeceiversstatic-age
-Billiejoezee- Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I've learned everything from them. mostly Drugs.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Haha, loads of words, mainly because English isn't my native language. I'm not even making a list because it would be endless But for words I didn't know in Dutch either (after I translated it from English to Dutch)... not many. The only ones I can think of right now are lobotomy, malachite and sassafras (although the latter two aren't even in my dictionary.)Granted, I haven't looked up all the words I don't know in English, but still.I don't really think that's fair to say, though, because it's quite possible the the dictionary has the simplest translation of words, so yeah. idk
janiliz06 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Oh my I have a lot. and ones that are in progress on finding out what they are .cause english isnt my native language.some words are really odd is not even in the dictionary still to these day I dont know what malachite or banshee are just to name some.beretta=semi-automatic gun of some sortI didnt know what beretta means... so thanks.
HoneyDo666 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 ^Malachite=a green stone, so Billie uses it as a metaphor for his eyesBanshee=a hag or woman/monster. There's a banshee in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when all the students are fighting off the Bogart. Hope that helps!

Demented or Disturbed Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I think I have a pretty good vocabulary, but every once in a while I have to go look up one of their lyrics I've learned what malachite, sassafras, extortionist, neo-gentrified, maladjusted, lobotomy, sodomy, clout, deadbeat, eulogy, non-denominational, dog and pony show, novacaine, vegging, effigy, liquidated, pressure cooker, panhandled, molotov cocktail, salt of the earth, contraband, patron saint, jilted, salad days, charlatan, catch 22, and xanex mean. When I was little and I first heard Basket Case I learned melodramatic and neurotic XD I've personally always thought that crosstops was another word for crossroads. The Foxies also taught me strychnine. I love words and the fact that my favourite band is teaching me new ones make me very happy

GoodRiddanceGE Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I´m German so Green Day tought me almost every single English vocabulary Particularly words like contradiction, moron, deadbeat, booze... And the list goes on and on because I still learn from them today!
Marki. Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 English is not my first language, so Green Day taught me a million words They're the reason I am good at english - my friends always ask me when they don't know something in their english homework and I'm like: I am NOT a vocabulary , I don't know everything xD And they're always like: "Yes you are, how can you know THIS word?" "Just listen to Green Day, that's it!" I learn some new words from GD songs everyday
Poo Flinger Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Cuz you still get points for being close to target in horseshoes, and with hand grenades, if you're close you still blow up what you were aiming for. You get points for being close in horseshoes?!
BadgerLALA Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Haha, loads of words, mainly because English isn't my native language. I'm not even making a list because it would be endless My English got much better after staring listening to Green Day But also b/c I started to hung out here at GDC where I had to both write and read in English all the time. So thank you Green Day and GDC for giving me B+ in English grade.
NaturalxDisaster Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I've learned a lot from them, and my English got much better when I started listening them And it was also easy for me to study English, maybe because everything my teacher taught me i could relate with the songs, and the vocabulary too.
davegrohllover Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 You know , You Know, You know, LOL Something like that.
