Supermodel*Robot Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 im not sayying he is taking over interviews, im just saying he is taking over the band. like in the end of 21 guns why is it just him at the end and not the band....That's more of a director's choice. Plus the song is about loneliness and solitude, so having him stand alone makes sense.
The Grateful Green Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 That's more of a director's choice. Plus the song is about loneliness and solitude, so having him stand alone makes sense.why him? why cant mike be the one standing there.
Clockwise Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Yeah, Billie Joes really represents Green Day. I don't think he takes too much credit though, he's the driving force behind the band. I'm not belittling Tre and Mike's part, they are a humongous part of the band also. It wouldn't work without any of them. I'm just saying Billie Joe represents Green Day. Now I do get mad when interviews focus more on Billie by the interviewers choice.
Miqui_Dee Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 why him? why cant mike be the one standing there.... are you serious? Go ask the director why it's just Billie. Billie Joe didn't say "and then at the end, because I have control over the band now, I want a shot of JUST ME. and not mike. No way, no how. Just me. Because I must take over."
Tubbie Head Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 BITCHI think the interviewer was in love with Billie.. That's it But yeah.. That was not good, leaving Mike and Tré just looking at her
The Grateful Green Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 ... are you serious? Go ask the director why it's just Billie. Billie Joe didn't say "and then at the end, because I have control over the band now, I want a shot of JUST ME. and not mike. No way, no how. Just me. Because I must take over."wow. all im saying is that billie is always the center of attention. yeah i know hes front man. lets go back to gilman st. and dookie and shenanigans and nimrod. it was about the band. not him.
Supermodel*Robot Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 why him? why cant mike be the one standing there.Dude, he's the singer. The lead vocalist always gets more attention in music videos. That's just the way it is. Doesn't mean he's a fucking nazi ordering everyone around.
SOMERTEN Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I think Billie's central role in the band is a double edged sword for him. He does get the kudos but he also gets most of the hassle and nutters after him. On a personal level though I am a bit bored with interviews being mainly about the creative process and Billie. I find myself wishing there was more of Mike and Tre sometimes. I totally see them as a group and I figure if Billie was all the band was about Pinhead Gunpowder would be as huge as Green Day.
Anja Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I remember that one. I wanted to attack the interviewer. So did I. That seemed a bit unprofessional to me when I first saw it. I can just agree with most of the people here. He´s the frontman, he sings and writes the songs so it´s totally understandable why media and people in general are paying more attention to him.
iLozza! Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Like said, he is frontman. If they guys had a problem with it, I'm sure they'd say.
karma1215 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I think they seem to share more views equally than ever before... especially now. I noticed Billie isn't as quickly to answer questions ...he lets Mike and Tre in. I especially liked how he pulled Jason in the group when one of talk show host ignored Jason all together. To me they seem like a solid cohesive unit.... I love the camerdierie between them. I think that's the thing that make's Green Day work as a whole. The camerderie they have with one another.
miss green day Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Billie always seems to let Tre and Mike in. Those guys are best friends. I don't think it's a problem. Interviews aren't everything a band does, y'know.
TheBullwinkle Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I don't think Billie really tries to take over Green Day, but media sources and fangirls make it out to look like he's the only goddamn person in the band. Yes, he writes almost all of their lyrics. Yes, he writes a lot of music. But Tré and Mike have just as important roles in the band. Pisses me off.
Eirik Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 don't i recall Billie saying "i am green day".Haha, nice job taking stuff out of context.. wow. all im saying is that billie is always the center of attention. yeah i know hes front man. lets go back to gilman st. and dookie and shenanigans and nimrod. it was about the band. not him.Ha... Ha... Ha...Have you seen Longview? You know, their first music video... the one where half of the video is Billie on a couch?
Radioactive1 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I don't think Billie really tries to take over Green Day, but media sources and fangirls make it out to look like he's the only goddamn person in the band. Yes, he writes almost all of their lyrics. Yes, he writes a lot of music. But Tré and Mike have just as important roles in the band. Pisses me off. This.We know he isn't taking over, but the media certainly act like he IS Green Day. But like Lozza said, the band probably find it amusing and if they had a problem with it I'm sure they'd say.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 no i dont think so.not any more than he has for the last 20 yrs or so.
chickin'pickin' Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 The "I am Green Day" comment made by Billie Joe is probably the same way Mike and Tre feel about themselves.
Supermodel*Robot Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Ha... Ha... Ha...Have you seen Longview? You know, their first music video... the one where half of the video is Billie on a couch? Exactly. Billie owned that video. Sure it's annoying when you want to see more of Mike or Tre, but it's the media that pisses me off, not Billie. It's not his fault the market (teenies) want more of him.
Bastard of 1967 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 why him? why cant mike be the one standing there.Mike's on backup vocals on this song...he's not the focal point of attention in this video. Now on the other hand, if they were to make a vid for American Eulogy... I think they seem to share more views equally than ever before... especially now. And how about that gig they did in NYC a few weeks ago when Billie Joe and Tre did a role-reversal -- Tre fronted and played Blue (okay, Blue's replica-du-jour) for one song, while Bille Joe played the drums? Awesome.Sure it's annoying when you want to see more of Mike or Tre, but it's the media that pisses me off, not Billie.Well put.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Like others have said: He's the front man. This is how things ARE with the frontman. I haven't noticed him talking any more than usual in interviews. From what I can tell, things are the same as they've always been. And besides, I've read in a few articles that Mike and Tre called him the 'elected leader' so... yeah. They obviously don't mind it.
metalhead#87 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Its kinda like how the media gave way more attention to John and Paul rather than George and Ringo; but to hardcore beatles fans, they like them all the same.
KeRpLuNkXxX Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Kind of a pointless topic...Billie Joe knows how to be a good frontman, he gives credit to Mike and Tre all the time and he would never take over the band. Media and teenies are the ones who make him the center of the band, but he's not. All of them make this band possible and amazing, and HE knows that. And about that "i am green day", he IS green day, as Mike and Tre ARE green day as well. I don't think he is wrong about saying thath, although some people may take it the wrong way
Trina Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 dont you think he is taking over green day? im sure the guys dont like it. its like they should change there band name too "billie joe and others"they need a changeNo, I do not think Billie Joe is taking over Green Day. You're not in the band and you do not know the members so why are you basically putting words in their mouths? They're mature enough and have been a band and friends long enough to communicate their feelings properly to eachother. If they did feel that way things would get sorted out. And no, they shouldn't change their name to that. And no, I don't think they need a change. This is a pointless topic.
