Take me to Christie Road Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 You know that saying "too much of a good thing..."? I remember when you couldn't take a shit without hearing/seeing Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It got to the point where I would skip it on the album. I still have trouble listening to it. So yes, there is such a thing.
Isabel Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 ^ Scary.......but it feels SO right. But only for us. Anything I say about Green Day to someone always results in either a response about how obsessed I am or just a bemused expression.Like last night in work; I was telling someone that the Green Day concert was 106 days away because I had a countdown timer on my bebo page Her: "Err, ok. Where are you seeing them?"Me: "I'm seeing them 3 times; Belfast, Dublin and Manchester."Her: "Okaaay, that's weird."WHAAT?! That's not weird at all! God I'd hate to have such a lack of passion.
**kookai** Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 ....... there is never enough Green Day, they are awesome beyond words....
meghann Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 there is never too much Green Day. i can't even think about not liking them. they are amazing!
~Toast~ Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I took a 2 year break on them because I over did it and now I still don't like them as much as I did but they are still awesome and there songs hold memories.
Juju Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 yes, there is. i spent over a month and a half listening to nothing but Green Day (mostly 21CB) and i was getting kinda sick of them.i took a break and listened to some other stuff for a bit, and i feel much better now. i can go back to listening to GD with no problem.every once in awhile, i need a break from Green Day, otherwise i get sick of them and don't want to listen to them anymore.... and i don't ever want that to happen. EVER.
ainsley_atombomb Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 i guess its always best to switch things up every now and then
gdpony Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 old thread! well, I think there is but, I listen to a few of their songs everyday, and although I've been a fan for almost 10 years, I'm still not tired or over them I really enjoy their music and their side projects, Who knows when I'll get tired of them
Shaekwon Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 You know that saying "too much of a good thing..."? I remember when you couldn't take a shit without hearing/seeing Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It got to the point where I would skip it on the album. I still have trouble listening to it. So yes, there is such a thing. Old post, but this sums up how I feel perfectly. BOBD gets hit with the skip button quite frequently.
PunkRocks and Coke Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 nahh, Im been obsessed with them for 1/3 of my life and im still not sick of them, maybe sick of hearing about hte musical but not the band or their music. and people tell me this is just a phase that ill get over Green Day one day but if this is a phase its a pretty damn long one and i hope it never ends
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 if you love something very much you never get sick of it i'll never get enough of green day.... there is something vital between me and green day's music ... music is forever, not something temporary
Maddy. Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 yes, there is. i spent over a month and a half listening to nothing but Green Day (mostly 21CB) and i was getting kinda sick of them. i took a break and listened to some other stuff for a bit, and i feel much better now. i can go back to listening to GD with no problem. every once in awhile, i need a break from Green Day, otherwise i get sick of them and don't want to listen to them anymore.... and i don't ever want that to happen. EVER. This, completely.
Christina. Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I was actually thinking about this the other day. I've had such an over hyped Green Day year (which don't get me wrong, it was amazing and I love the band to death) but I think now I'm appreciating them for the music they make rather than who they are and their personal lives. I really no longer feel the need to watch and read every new interview that comes out and look at every new photo that's been released. I think when your love for the band begins to become obsessive, that's when it borderlines too much.
Banan Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 no, not for me I listen to other bands as well, but mostly Green Day. So no, i've never gotten "too much" of them, and i never will
dawn71 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Asking is there ever such thing as too much Green Day is like asking is there too much oxygen to breathe....
Juliette Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 When songs become singles and are overplayed then I get sick of them. Probably if all you listened to was green day then you would get sick of them but I think if you've got variety you're alright. Its the same as anything really$
Yin Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 No I cant get enough because I'm an obsessed stalker fangirl who only spends her time cyber stalking famous people fo' da lolz
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I thought there wasn't...but there is. Not as in going to concerts etc. But for some time I listened to mainly Green Day (not all...but like, 80% of what I listened to was Green Day, or something like that), and at some point I was just like, I don't want to listen this now. Not even as in not feeling like it, but just not wanting to, and turning it off. I wasn't sick of them, but there were a lot of moments where I just didn't want to listen Green Day. I still really love them and there certainly are days where I listen to only Green Day or a big part of what I listen to is Green Day, but it just was too much and not enough variety to listen to so much Green Day compared to other music for that long time. There's a difference between too much and getting sick of something.
Conspiracy. Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Sometimes I get sick of specific songs, but it helps to not listen to them for a while. Then, when I hear them again, the great feeling that has been there in beginning comes back and I'm like "How could I ever get sick of this song?"
