Isabel Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Nope. No one's gonna put on some Green Day and listen to it unless they want to and they're enjoying it. If they find they're not enjoying it, they'll turn it off. Everyone naturally listens to the exact amount of Green Day they want to listen to, however much or little that is. So no one's getting too much! Unless they're being forced to listen to it against their will. That's why it's stupid to tell someone they listen to too much Green Day and arrogantly assume that they'll get sick of them, or to act superior because you don't listen to them that often or have "moved on" from them. Everyone's different and everyone enjoys things in different ways. Some people enjoy listening to Green Day every day and always will, some just listen to the occasional song, some stop liking them altogether, and everything in between. As long as everyone does what they enjoy, it doesn't matter. That's very true. Although I do think you can overdo it though sometimes, that happened to me a few years back. For 6 or 7 months straight I only listened to Green Day and nothing else. Then for the next 2 years it was predominantly Green Day and GD related bands (The Network, Pinhead Gunpowder, etc.) that I listened to. Because of that, when I eventually started getting into new bands (various influences from boyfriends, family, friends, etc) I started to listen to Green Day less and less because I felt myself becoming tired of hearing the same songs over and over and was worried that I might grow to dislike them one day. So I gave them a rest for a while and then went back to them at the end of 2008. I've been quite heavy on the GD rotation ever since then but at least this time I've learned that there is more to music than just one band. I think it's really suffocating to only listen to the same band over and over so I'm really glad that I have found other bands I love as well...none to the same extent as GD, but I still give them a lot of time
Silverlight Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I totally agree with everyone who is saying that they're not sick of Green Day, but they take breaks from them to listen to different music. I usually just listen to GD, but sometimes I for some reason, I get in a bad mood and think, "am I over doing it? I payed good money for all these other cds, and I'm just wearing out these?" so I change the music for a while, but then I come back to love Green Day more than ever

theclassof13 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I don't think i could get sick of Green Day permanently. Sometimes I over do it and need a break for a couple days, but after that i'll be straight back into them!!
captain peroxide Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I'm not sick of them, per se. I've just burned out on them. I listened to them pretty much constantly for about two years. Then I switched off with other bands for a while, then back to Green Day. Also, my musical tastes have matured since then (matured here means evolved and grown, not gotten better. Don't want you guys to think I look down on Green Day's music) and I'm more into heavier stuff. So that tends to be what I enjoy listening to more these days. I don't listen to Green Day very much at all anymore, but I still love them and their music to death. And they will always have a special place in my heart, for a variety of reasons.
carasway Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 What is this blasphemy you speak of? "too much Green Day..." Never i say!
Whatsername1533 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Never. There are time though when I don't listen to them for a few days but then there are weeks when thats the only thing that I listen to. I don't think I will ever get sick of them though.
UnderClassHero Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 YES! too much green day is unhealthy towards your sanity. i mean my wall is littered with green day collages it's like a wallpaper. then i have green day finger puppets and green day figurines on top of my bed. and then my friend made some chocolate in her tech class and wrapped it in a package and labelled it chocolate rain.. and then my friend spent a sleepless week writing the whole history of green day+ all songs, covers, bio, etc. on a delivery tube.. WTF?!? lmao. it also affects your homework when you've been on youtube too long watching epic performances.
Nele Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 2 words: No! That's just one word. Anyway, I never thought there was too much Green Day, even though I get tired of their music sometimes. Then I'll just listen to something else, discover new bands etc and get back to Green Day after a while.
TwoDollarAnna Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I listen to Green Day everyday for several hours, and I'm still not sick of it. But my friends and family think i love Green Day too much, i talk about them all the time and i sing their songs (badly ) almost everyday.

That's kind of how I got around the spring of this year, burnt out on them, because they were basically all I listened to last fall. When I think of my junior year of college, I will now always think of Green Day.
Zero. Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 For me, there will never be enough Green Day.... for all my friends and family there is too much Green Day in my life
Sara Armstrong Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 i think i've fallen out of my HUGE obsession i had with them, but i still enjoy listening to them. they will always be my favorite band, so i don't think there could ever be ~too~ much green day for me. yet at the same time i don't think i could listen to them 24/7. and now i feel like listening to green day.
anya. Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 For me, there will never be enough Green Day.... for all my friends and family there is too much Green Day in my life this
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 No, I don't think I've ever gotten tired of listening to Green Day. Sometimes there's one or two songs that I get a little bit sick of, so I skip them for like a week and then I listen to them again I once went on a six-and-a-half hour plane ride. The plane was really shitty with no TVs or anything, so I put my iPod in Green Day mode and started listening about half an hour into the flight. Six hours later (with some food and bathroom and other stuff breaks), I did not run out of Green Day, or get tired of them. At all.
Kitteh Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I don't think I've ever gotten sick of them, but I stopped listening to them as much for 2 years or so recently. I found out they were touring, and bought a ticket because I remembered them being the best live show I had ever seen. (<--- And I've seen a lot) After the show, I am now back in to the 'MUST HAVE GREEN DAY' sickness.
Margo 39 smooth Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 i dont think so. actually well maybe. cause when i was at the height oh my obsession (y'know that part where your just starting to learn all about them and you spend your nights on youtube watching every video they could possibly be in, when they'r the only band you'll listen too, they're all you ever talk about, ect.), i realized i had to tone it down a bit cause i was annoying everyone i knew and i was kinda getting sucked into my own Green Day world. but now i'm on the forum and i think thats helped cause now i get to talk about Green day and people actually care. but ya at one point i had too much Green day. i always kinda thought that one day i'd get sick of them. like it was just a phase. but its been 2 years now and that day is yet to come!
rinu Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I'm listening too much Green Day too but I've given a break now I don't listen them much in these days cause I could get bored with them.
Little Girl Little One Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I don't think there could be such thing as too much Green Day, but I know there are times when I need to distance myself a tiny bit for my mental health. When I relate every single thing in my life to Green Day and I can't go two minutes without them crossing my mind, I force myself to back off, or else I end up like that three-year-old girl crying over Justin Bieber. As cute as that video is, I'm pretty sure it's much less adorable for a teenage girl to be like that. I actually just came off a three-day hiatus last night, but I'm still taking it slow lol.
lastnightonGDA Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I was ichatting with my friend when I saw this and said "is there such a thing as TOO much green day?" out loud. Then my friends says "omg. I am going to kill you"
pasalaska Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I think you can have too much GD stuff (like the people who get special imports of CDs that are exactly the same as their local copy except for a sticker on the cover), but you can never have enough love for the band and never, ever have enough live shows.
