-Billiejoezee- Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Oh wow I just heared it.Its wonderul lol.I love the LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLapart lol.
sallysimpson Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I did get to see it! Madison Square Garden, 28th July. I couldn't believe it! Generally though, i don't think many people knew it unfortunately.I was there too and just about lost my mind when I heard the opening chords. I'd have given anything to see the Who play this live (seen R&R Circus and I have Live at Leeds, but . . . .), and now that both Moon and Entwhistle are gone, I thought I'd never have the chance. As a HUGE Who and Green Day fan, I thought they really did the song justice. It was tragic that the audience didn't seem to realize what a big deal this was. Alot of the people in GA stood looking perplexed. C'mon -- it's GREEN DAY covering THE WHO! Only way this could have ever been better is if the bands performed together -- my vote would be for the complete Quadrophenia and American Idiot -- but I'm greedy that way.
Mar Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I just read an old review of a FHT show where they did this song, and the amount of jealousy I felt for the 300 or so people at that show (I'm thinking it was the Little Rock one) was insane.I'm going to be honest, I wasn't familiar with this song before hearing this cover. What can I say? I was raised on Top 40 growing up! But I love their version, and it helped me discover the original and other great Who songs.
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 This is myfav green day cover song. I couldn't really imagine it being a Green Day song tho. But its better than the Who version.

Unfortunately, like you, i didn't know the song at the time. But i love it now, both The Who and Green Day versions.
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 It was really weird..in the spring, before 21stCB came out and when i was still in high school, my english teacher would always play us a song and have us write about it and whatnot, and one day he played us a video of the who playing a quick one while he's away... and the whole time i'm watching it, it reminded me of green day. Just because the song was so long and it kept changing riffs and stuff. and then after school i get home and look at itunes and it shows that green day was coming out with a cover of it. it was just really weird lol weird

Robin105 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I love this song. I'm still on a high from hearing it live at MSG. I still can't believe they played it. I was going nuts. It's almost like they heard me because I said when I was there "I would like to hear A Quick One While He's Away."
Isabel Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Ok, I think I may be a wee bit obsessed with this song now
beness Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Great song, the best cover of a song by Green Day. The Who classic sounds so new age, a great tranfer of music through time.
greendaytone Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I love this song. I'm still on a high from hearing it live at MSG. I still can't believe they played it. I was going nuts. It's almost like they heard me because I said when I was there "I would like to hear A Quick One While He's Away."I kinda felt the same! I made a thread about requesting this song at that show. And then hey presto, they played it. I went crazy. It's a great song, and a great cover.Glad Isabel is enjoying it too right now
JadedGirl84 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 It's such an awesome cover. It's just so EPIC. Aww, that is so cool that some of you got to see it live. I would have lost my mind if they had have played it at the shows I went to. Lucky lucky people.
