themole Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Tied for my favorite song on the album. This is hopeful in a world of chaos, disillusionment, and anger. It doesn't know where or when, but the future will be better and we can only help ourselves.
TheBullwinkle Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I absolutely hated this song at first, but now I love it. It gives me goosebumps.
Tiffx Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I crossed the riverFell into the seaWhere the non-believersGo beyond beliefThen I scratched the surfaceIn the mouth of hellRunning out of serviceIn the blood I fell I need to know what's worth the fight Beautiful lyrics. Perfect song to end an amazing album.
OliDayyy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like the lyrics, but I don't like the song that much, to be honest.Maybe that's because I prefered the final song on American Idiot, stronger.I know I shouldn't compare with AI, but that's what I'm always thinking listening to See The Light...
greendayawtw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like the lyrics, but I don't like the song that much, to be honest.I feel the same way, I think the reason is that the beginning compares it to 21st Century Breakdown (the song of course), and i like that one more.
OliDayyy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Yeah, it must be why I don't like it that much !BUT, I like the idea that the same sound appears in the 1st and the last song, it's like the book we were reading is over, has a beginning and an end.
greendayawtw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like the idea that the same sound appears in the 1st and the last song, it's like the book we were reading is over, has a beginning and an end.True
Another Urchin Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 When I compared it to concluding songs from other albums, I found it lacking. But the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it. It's the lyrics that make it stand out.To me, the album is a downward spiral of despair at the state of society, finally culminating in the ultimate sad song 21 Guns (a song I love, but really represents not the death of the characters, but the death of their cause). Then you end with See The Light, which gives hope of change and a new beginning to the characters. Even if not lyrically, it emotionally ties itself to Obama as a positive for American society. The dark ages are over and maybe the next decade can bring out something new and better.
DeJennsitized Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Not a favourite, but I like the way it ends the same way it started, with the two chords. Kind of like they've told their story, but now that it's finished, nothing has changed, or time has resumed, or something like that.
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 At first i didn't like this song so much, but now I love it, and i think it is the PERFECT song to end the album with.
bjrules Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I love the lyrics but the song? Not so much. I like it, but its probably the worst song on the album for me. I think Whatsername was a stronger ending to an album than this.
PNM Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 it's not a great song by itself. but like Song of the Century is the perfect way to start the album, See the light IMO is the perfect way to end it.
Green Day 13 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i think this is a great way to tie up the album! but i dont think its the most memorable songs cause when i listen to the album il finish mass hysteria er whatever its called i cant remember right now and il be like "k time to switch to a new song!" then this comes on and il be like "oh yeah one more song!" either way memorable or not i still think its a great last song for the album
Countrygirl Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Hate it! Seems like something Simple Plan or a teenie band did with no thought into it.
Pati. Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I just love this song,I like the lyrics,I like the melody and it has a very strong meaning for me and it's a perfect song to end an album. At first I thought it was lame, but now it's my second favorite song on this album.
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 i really find some weird relief in see the light
Anja Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Hate it! Seems like something Simple Plan or a teenie band did with no thought into it.Wow, I couldn´t disagree more. I don´t think someone like Simple Plan could have ever thought of lyrics like these in "See the light" but that´s just my opinion. And the melody and all doesn´t remind me of any teenie band.
Clayish Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Hate it! Seems like something Simple Plan or a teenie band did with no thought into it.Not even close.Seriously.....
Sharmellow Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 It was a fabulous song to end the album. The song itself isn't one of my favorites, but it had brilliant lyrics.
Penguin Puffball Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 This song should be the anthem of the summer. It's like finding your way out of this dark world and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
PNM Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 i feel bad that while i'm reading through these last few posts i'm listening to simple plan :$
parinaz Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Well I crossed the river, fell into the seaWhere the non believers go beyond beliefthis is somehow linked to Buddhist believes as well.
punkrockerlori Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I think ending the album with this song was a good idea. When I was listening to the entire thing striaght through, I felt really uplifted after that song. Good way to end off an album
