Heather! Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Best part of the song is when Billie goes "fucking liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies!"I think we can all agree that Mike is pretty epic, right?
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 It's funny how the song used to make me wanna barf because of the Mass Hysteria chorus. But now I love it! Wonder how I'll like it live.Well, not if they do this OR JoS. I'd prefer JoS over this any time. It's epic live. In part 2 (Modern Age), after Billie screams out "FUCKING LIES" and they go into the instrumental bridge, it turns into a shit-kicker of a jam. Tre's wailing on the drums, Mike and Jason are going to town on their guitars, and Billie's just running all over the stage like a madman. At the very end (during the chorus repetition), Tre eventually silences his part of the rhythm and he stands up behind his drum kit, with this goofy grin on his face and "conducting" the rest of the band with one of his drumsticks as if he were leading an orchestra:(from the band's official compilation video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E-2ofCWgA4)It's just awesome -- hope you get to see it if you haven't already!
Lauren Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I was upset they didn't play this in Las Vegas. Instead, they played Minority as the finale. I liked Minority better as an encore!

newsflash777 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I heard this song live at the soundcheck in Dublin, it was absolutely amazing. The first Green Day song I heard live with my own ears Aw Mine was 21st.anyways,I FUCKING ADORE THIS SONG.
Mar Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I've been watching The Wire lately, and I've constantly thought about this song as I watch it. So many of the lyrics reflect the reality of living in that environment; "America is falling, vigilantes warning you" especially. I think it's a very accurate song to reflect the times in which we live.
